- Ajax's Abdelhak Nouri collapses to the pitch during the 72nd minute of their friendly vs Werder Bremen. The 20-year old midfielder born in Amsterdam of Moroccan descent went to the ground untouched. Medical personnel have been attempting to administer CPR and use a defibrillator. The match which was being played in Austria has been abandoned.
UPDATE: Nouri was transported by helicopter and airlifted out, Ajax officials have confirmed he is in stable condition. Please keep him in your prayers!

This is damn tragic and disturbing. Its permanent brain damage according to doctors/news outlets and at a summer friendly like this aswell for basically nothing before his career kicked off. Only 20 years old and being struck by something you see as a hobby/joy. I feel for him and his family its going to be tough to get over this hopefully Ajax will support the kid and his family in all the ways they can.

Nouri collapsed in the game against Werder Bremen on July 8.
He was treated for 10 minutes on the pitch before being taken to hospital by air ambulance and put in an induced coma as doctors rushed to save him.
But after waking up, the youngster now sadly suffered "serious and permanent brain damage" due to a shortage of oxygen.
One of his brothers, Abderrahim, revealed last week that the midfielder can’t walk, talk or even recognise his family anymore, with the chance of recovery virtually nil.
apparantly he is now improving, and had communicated via being able to move his mouth and eyebrows, or it least thats the news report I read

This is a failure from the the emergency medical service on the field. Even if you collapse on the street like this, you have more chances of survival than on this field where a emergency car was available. Nouri breaks down at game time 71 : 42, at game time 76: 40 I still can not recognize heart pressure massage. Until then, the important 4 min have expired and the brain begins to necrotize. The camera turns off and at game time 81 : 30 it may be so that the emergency medical service is reanimating . So helpless as the 'skilled workers' are , one is sure: the rightous medical care starts when the helicopter arrived. Even if you could not save him, the emergency medical supply is not acceptable.

Having been at the Bolton vs Spurs match where Fabrice Muamba collapsed, I understand what the fans are going through with what has happened to Nouri. I cant imagine the emotional stress his friends, family and teammates are going through though.
