8 years ago I purchased this set from a dentist and his young wife. Bought it (with the bases) for $350. Took it home and disassembled it thinking it could be the pump. ( wasn’t sure) it was only 1 1/2 years old and after spending over $300 on a service tech, put it up for sale. Took it apart, found the pump and upon opening it just a tiny bit of water came out while the tub still had water in it! Took the filter out and along with it came a small training bra!! lol. Yanked it out and of course had water everywhere! Here it is 8 years later and it’s malfunctioning. Sounds like the pump is trying to pump water out, but possibly blocked. At 76 don’t think I can bend down that far without getting up again. Got son in law coming in two days, but forgot the steps to get to that pump. Knew the screws were there but forgot about the clips. Anyway, thanks for putting this out there. Great refresher and for those DIYers , it really is easy!! Thanks again! Good vid!

I just had my filter cleaned out on my Maytag of less than 1 yr, so it was under warranty. The repairman said, Be careful because next time it will not be under warranty. They only allow one repair like this since it's not the fault of the machine. He said the next time it will cost $349!! Why, I asked. This young'un said, This is a very dirty job! The guy knows absolutely nothing about dirty jobs! He didn't get dirty whatsoever! Crazy!!!

Absolutely a piss poor design. Most “Normal” washers have the plug in the front for convenience especially for people with small laundry rooms where there’s no room for this without completely removing a stackable washer dryer set it. This is a disastrous design

Couldn't agree more. I have no idea how to move my heavy Maytag washing machine which is in a corner. Can't even budge it. Maytag decided that sleek looks were ore important than functionality. I'll know which type of washer to avoid next time.

Took the drain hose off and blew it out too. Lots of crud in there. Thanks for the tips! I think in my case it needed both things fixed. What a great day! I was searching how to repair the door’s hinge and found a video showing how to replace it, then I found the hinge on Amazon for only 42 bucks. Then that search led me to this video. I’ve had the washer for 15 years, didn’t know it had a filter that needs cleaning. Saved a lot of money today not calling a repair person.

@@goodtimesfunforall778 I spoke to soon. Lol. After I removed all the screws and plastic tabs, I then realized the filter was accessed at the front. So I cleaned it from there, a bit of slime but that was all. It then gave an F20 error, which turns out to be an inlet hose issue which was quite clogged, mainly the hot side. Likely calcium from hot water tank. I replaced the broken door hinge as well - 42 bucks on Amazon. Seems to be working great now.

We have a similar model maytag. It was displaying a f9 E1 code which is the code for clogged drainage system. I followed your info and cleaned the drain trap but it was mostly clean. This led me to inspect the drain hose itself which was pretty severely clogged with gunk. Gross... I sprayed the gunk out of the drain hose. That was fix for us. This info got us on the right path to fix it. Also the whole washer area in clean now that we cleaned up behind the machines. Thanks so much for the guide. 👍

Thank you so much! This was totally the fix I needed.
For anyone else embarking on this, here's a shortcut: the cap can be quite difficult to remove, and it's really hard to get two arms in that space, especially if you're 6'3" and 230lbs like me.
I found a solution by using one of those red-handled spring clamps. It gave me the grip and leverage I needed.
Good luck to all who follow in my footsteps!

If you would have covered that o-ring with plumber's silicone lubricant or as a last resort cooking oil, you would not have any problems screwing that part back. It would also make it easier the next time you remove it because it will be lubricated and preserved (if you used plumber's silicone lubricant).

We remove ours after every load, rinse it, and leave it in sink to dry, which may be excessive, though it doesn't take long. My wife lets me know when I forget.

Good visual. I'll try entering the situation from the back. SUD CODE NOW. Before was F32 (Cleaned drain hose), the F21 (started rince/drain cycle) working Then SUD. That drain at bottom looks promising! Thanks

Thank you for walking me through this process!
Just a note tho, i know that vinegar will damage the rubber hoses, and some other parts which will eventually cause the machine to leak, especially on front loaders. So maybe at the 4:03 mark in the video you might want to reconsider using the vinegar to clean the o-ring and opt for something else to help you clean up your washer.
I found out about the vinegar problem after I had added some to several loads of puppy laundry. Not long after, my machine sprung a leak. When I researched the leak I found it is a very common problem.
    Thanks again tho!

Thank you for the help! (Stupid design for something that needs regular attention!) The machine weighs 200 pounds! If Maytag wanted to be out in front of the rest, they would have a one clip front access door to do this and include a washable plastic try to catch the mess as it rolls out. Thanks again for making this great video!

Just attempted this on my Maytag Maxima X model and discovered the drain/filter isn’t configured the same way as the one in this video. I will have to disassemble the entire front side of the washer in order to get to the drain/filter.

As many are saying, this is a great video. I also like that people found another way to do it that requires even less screw removal. My problem is, I have a Maytag Neptune Front Loader which doesn't appear to have the clips in the back nor the panel underneath. I'd love some suggestions on how I can get to this pump without taking the front off. Thank you.

Theres no other way, you must remove the door seal as well. Its almost as if they make it harder and harder to fix it yourself
