I noticed at first that the driver seat was pressed against the table but when you moved the seat forward to drive and reach the clutch, I knew the drivers area wasn't too skimpy. Nice to see someone actually has manual gears again.
Hey Andrew, please be careful, on this part of the world, not only the driving wheel is on the wrong side, also all cars and trucks are! Thank you for sharing your trip with us.
Thanks soooo much for sharing!! So much fun to watch with I was actually there! You crack me up and I am totally sure Doogle was checking out the steering wheel situation 🤗
The steering wheel is there so your passenger can drive . You are on holiday , so dougal drive the van ! which I must say the van looks very impressive.
Excited for you as you begin this new adventure Andrew! Hope you'll share the lovely views and share some musings along the way. Interested to know how you find the bed comfort. I love how Dougal matches the cab's interior finishes, very important! ;) Happy Trails!
Hi Andrew, Storage galore, nice size refrigerator,....these vans as you mentioned are best suited to 1 or 2 individuals.Enough about that! Dougal really enjoys camping with you, he's a loyal companion! This will be a fabulous serious, as usual! 😘
Just recently found your channel, when I was shopping for a van I couldn’t get to see a Vlow so great to see your Vlogs. In end I chose a Hymercar which is very similar. It will be interesting to see how you get on!
I love the shelf in the kitchen very useful to put your washing up liquid and other kitchen stuff or charge stuff you don't need 24/7 once again a brilliant video honest and funny :)
Keep an eye on the compressor fridge. Now you have a van that is charging the leisure battery , you may find it a different experience! Especially if the weather gets really hot !
Yep, I'm already noticing a difference - it's working LESS hard and cooling better in the warmer weather, which is what folks said would happen. I don't understand it but it's the same with domestic freezers, isn't it?
I hadn't heard of carado until watching this video, I'm now looking at their vlow v601 at weekend. keep up the good work Andrew and look forward to the review next month
Hi Andrew! We're back on a 4G mobile signal so have been able to catch up with this at last. I was giggling a lot at the steering wheel bit at the beginning! Hope it's going well, we are looking forward to more of your trip. Stephen
Great video it’s nice to see the everything is on the correct side. I am surprised is see it’s not an automatic. Most people on this side can’t drive a standard drive.
You dipstick !! Hahaha !! Quite like the Adria me thinks, but still very nice ,lots of storage , for all your stuff , oh , it's OK if you say so says Dougal !! what's for dinner then after all that unpacking, you have me knackered !! And you even arranged the sunshine and birdsong, heaven !! That looks more homely now , who said underwear !! Can't wait 2c Croatia, lucky man, happy travels u2 !! Greetings from sunny warm Belfast , Spring has Sprung , the snails are out !!
Finally I won't feel discombobulated watching you drive. Steering wheel and traffic lanes are in the correct position. lol I can't believe there are no cup holders. I have 6 in my car and some times they are all full.
Love the internal and external colours. Makes a change from the usual White. Dougal seemed a bit overwhelmed, bliss. Really looking forward to the rest of your adventure. J&P
Oh. I am sure a man with your photographic skills will have a work round. Looks a nice Van Andrew and the storage is very impressive for its size. J&P. PS Hope your settling in now.
Did you feel you could truly relax and lounge about? I always feel most van conversions are brilliantly thought through but, come a rainy day, can I read a book for a few hours and be generally slobish?!
Sorted a van now !its ur fault to much inspiration lol. From Paul Jenny and Rocky at Ayr camc Just a thought I wonder what side the steering wheel will be on😂
Ok,,,,A. Love the color! B. Oh, my, goodness, STORAGE! C. Not a rattle to be heard! And I give them bonus points for knowing which side the steering wheel belongs! Haha
Hi Andrew im going to hire a motorhome this year thanks to watching your adventures, just wondered if you knew of any good companies? thanks in advance Darren
Sadly not Darren as I've never had direct experience. The only hire company I know is Harris Classic Campers on the Isle of Harris if you want the true 'classic' experience.
When you think about it the steering wheel is on the right side, who normally sits their, Dougal does, maybe it's telling you something, it's time Dougal had a drive, I'm sure he would love the change and Andrew can have a rest.
Looks very nice, that washroom is rather on the small size. How do you make toast and grill bacon 🥓 Where have you left your pick up while you travel, didn’t see much oof Dougal, was he camera shy ☺️
I’m British, but I live in another country in Europe. Pros and cons with both UK and here - British standards, courtesy, civility, road behaviour, make me genuinely proud (even though there has been a decline in my 54 years). Here (not saying where), it’s dietary habits, warmth of heart, climate that wins. My point is - I think that driving on the left, rhd, is a flaw in the otherwise world leading British culture. A couple of nations in Europe changed over in the first half of the last century. Too late for the UK, now. The mega road infrastructure wouldn’t be able to switch over. Maybe we should have had more foresight, or less arrogance, 70 years ago. Ciao for now (ok, it’s Italia).
Cheers Gordon! You're right, it's a bit too late now. And I wonder how many tourists we lose out on because they are (justifiably) nervous about driving an RHD on the left. Still, looks like we're not learning from history, eh? :-/
Hello, I just bought one my self, but i have not got my VLOW jet. So pleace let me know about the heater and the hot water, . How does it work? is it a god heater or not? Thanks for all your videoś, i love them.
Hello Emil, this Vlow has only gas (LPG) water and heating. I guess you can get mains electricity as an upgrade but I am not sure. The water is great - you have an ECO setting (40 degrees) and a HOT setting (60 degrees) and I found there to be plenty of hot water for a shower. The gas heating is very efficient and the iNet control means you can easily set the temperature, and of course you can then use the iNet app on your phone to switch on the heating or water when you are on your way home from a day out.
Looks very tight for rear passengers and a bit of a cop-out on the raised floor. Where is the rubbish bin? Just a few points and all too common on commercial conversions.
Do you prefer this to the sun living? It looks more classy. Do you prefer the engine? How much is it? And sorry I missed your live stream. Cheers Oliver
My suggestion would be to lose some storage and make the washroom slightly bigger. Also the second wardrobe looks like the shelf has a quick release clip to remove shelf
*goes to check wardrobe...* I think you might be right Steve, as the clips are different. But I can't release it. I'll add it to the 'Ask Carado' list, as I didn't get a handbook with the van... :-/
Hi Andrew. I am trying to decide between camper vans from what I believe to be the two the two Hymer Group "budget" brands - Carado and Sunlight. I believe they are now produced in the same factory, to similar quality controls, and they seem quite similar in pricing. Is it possible to state whether they are targeted at different markets and wallet sizes, or are they really quite similar in most respects please? I find the options lists on camper vans very confusing when trying to compare like with like, so any guidance on this would be gratefully received :-)
I am not 100% sure as factory lines change and some brands are made in one factory and some in another. But you are correct in saying they are of same DNA and same parent company. I would say a lot of it is marketing. At the end of the day, I would say that proximity to the dealer should be instrumental in your decision so you have easier access to after-sales support. Cheers!
@@andrewjditton Thanks Andrew! Ruth and I really like the Carado V132/V337 that we've recently come across on their web site. I need to look at these more closely, but they appear to offer camper van dimensions with the look, feel and insulation of a semi-integrated. Sounds like an attractive product. Might even replace the car since I don't need to commute anymore, and with an engine upgrade it could tow the Eriba Nova 442 L for long stay holidays - total flexibility with the ability for short hiking weekends with just the Carado, and with the caravan for main holidays with our fast-growing son. Reflecting on your "same DNA' remark, both Sunlight and Etrusco seem to offer very similar van models...
I love it❤️ I also love the video 👍 It seems similar to the tribute we've been looking at, we are struggling between tribute and hillside vw conversion. Any tips and advice welcome
I'll always say Julie, it's about you and your needs and not about the van. All I can do is highlight their strengths and weaknesses. The difficult decision is all yours I'm afraid, sorry!
Hi Andrew great video and funny especially the steering wheel being on the wrong side cracking video can I ask is the van shorter than last one u done review of lonely it looks a small van but very nice in and out cheers Andrew .kev
Hi Kev, it is exactly the same size as the other one, just laid out very slightly differently to squeeze in the extra wardrobes between the dinette and washroom.
Chris Stevens I just had a look on the website, it is listed as being HxWxD cm 72x71x45. I was interested to see if my chair would fit as well. Hope that helped, also if you go to their site Https://carado.de.en you will find information on range in English.
The driving wheel is in a perfectly normal spot, the Brits have it weird. 😗 ✌ And I've driven in Ireland. I was frequently heard to mutter "Drive on the left." I think when we go to each other's countries, we need to put notices on our cars "American/British Driver", so people will understand why I'm suddenly on the wrong side of the road, make turns funny, etc. Kinda like the Student Driver placards. The van is lovely, a lot like the Hymers being sold here. The cupboard space is wonderful.
Carado is part of the Hymer Group Lisa, which explains the similarities. That sign would be a great idea... even if just to explain my poor road positioning!
I have a friend who lives in London where her British husband works and vacations in Spain where some of her family lives, and asked her how she deals with it. She says it's the driving wheel position. She finds it impossible to drive a British car on the continent and vice versa. She's originally American, so grew up with the left wheel, then got used to her husband's car in England. But she can't handle the wheel being in the wrong place for that area. Interesting how our minds deal with the confusions.
Lovley video. Looks a great van of that type. Storage? I should coco. Blimey. Looks well built and a great adventure ahead. Just a small point, you maybe need to get Dougle to be less hyperactive. All his jumping around and silly exited behaviour in the van will wear you down, just tell him to rain his boisterous side in when your filming. Pmsl anyhoo ill just finish with great van great dog and great presenter.
Hello Andy, that looks like a great van. It would be great to meet up with you as We are your fans (family of 4). You would be able to compare your van to the one we are using that is just a bit longer. We are now in Croatia on your way. Currents staying in Amines Sirena campsite in Novigrad. Tomorrow we will be 'bing to Termy Catez in Slovenia.
That would be fun! My plan is Thursday still in Austria, then Friday hopefully Camp Soca in Slovenia. Sadly it looks like you are East and I am West. After that, I really don't know until Split on Wednesday to collect James.
It's all those new neural networks forming in the LHS of the Brain :) Is the clutch still under your left foot?? if so you are using both sides of the Brain just to change gear :(
Sorry Mike, my omission as it was raining when I did the outside. The usual place under the bed, with a drop-out vent and a sealed door. Will cover in the review, cheers!
Andrew , the first image with the van and title is very good. You're getting so professional at this! I was making German potato salad when I turned on the vlow. How appropriate 😆. That dinette looks very close. Must be made for matchstick people. Lots of storage though. Have fun!
annette fournier The dinette is always the problem in these van conversions. This is a nice one though, apart from the decals. They do not appear to be stuck on very well.
I know the idea is to use the acsi app, but in case you have no luck, maybe you could check the campercontact.com website or app. We plan our trips with our van mostly using that app/site and certainly in Germany you can find lots of places where you can also arrive almost any time of the day (just don't disturb others). You also have promobil and others if you want. Maybe it is an idea to check those out when you can go on another trip with a motorhome ;-)
First impressions are good Andrew. Looks solidly built and looks smart as well. There's always going to be some give and take when comparing similar vehicles, so looking forward to you putting it through it's paces over the next couple of weeks. Is Sir Dougal slightly happier with his new abode?....🐶😊 Nice one Andrew. Safe travels...👍👍 Andy.
I am astounded why you aren't picked up by the BBC or some North American channel. Go to Charlie Boorman straight away and get some damn media contacts. Or with that Scot. Ewen someone? It's like I'm watching Olympic athletes and no one is paying attention. Wake up media, Jewel/Andrew/Dougal ready to go, duh!
Cheers! I met Charlie Boorman on a train from Paris once and I had just finished reading 'Long Way Down'. I was so excited and he was such a gent. I'm very flattered to be compared to such a Gentleman. I'd love to be to Caravans and Campers what Charlie is to motorbikes ;@)
Here, here, definitely a real jem, gets my vote any day, let's bang that Jeremy Clarkson one right outta the water with his views on caravans, Boohoo, has 2b BBC2 tho, no adverts or interruptions, it would be brilliant, your a natural Andrew,my friend, not forgetting Douggiefurball, I'm away to write the script !!! Best Wishes from Linda and Lilybitescole, my pure white rescue cat , who doesn't sing !!! Lol
Good work Andrew - feels like you're gaining some well deserved momentum in this space.
Cheers Paul!
It’s been ages since a good “halooo”! Thanks for the fix 😁👍🏻
I noticed at first that the driver seat was pressed against the table but when you moved the seat forward to drive and reach the clutch, I knew the drivers area wasn't too skimpy. Nice to see someone actually has manual gears again.

No change there then... ;@)

Love this adventure so far it’s getting exciting !!!!

Great looking van inside and out
It looks slightly better laid out than the other van you had
Germany look nice too
Brilliant.. Looking forward to seeing Austria ad the rest of the Journey.
I love the shelf in the kitchen very useful to put your washing up liquid and other kitchen stuff or charge stuff you don't need 24/7 once again a brilliant video honest and funny :)
Hi Andrew and VIP Dougal Happy travelling. Look forward to seeing your journey Ann
Thanks Ann!
Hi Andrew good video loads of room in van for clothes and nick nacks look forward to more vids
Looking forward to your adventure, Billy & Kirsty.
Suggestion to Fiat: put the steering wheel in the middle to fit all needs 🤪. The Carado looks great so far.
Ha ha! Perfect! :@)
Love the camper and so missed your catchphrase HELLO
Another excellent vlog. It’s great to see all that storage, although it just encourages me to take more stuff! I must learn to pack light.
Andrew Ditton yes it’s very odd ;-)
Loads of storage which is nice. Loved the video as always.

Hi Andrew, first impressions it seems well sorted, time will tell.
Drive safe.
Thanks for that little peek. Looks like a good 'un. Have fun. 🖒
I hadn't heard of carado until watching this video, I'm now looking at their vlow v601 at weekend.
keep up the good work Andrew and look forward to the review next month
Nice one, Lee!
Cool photo from Dougle and you! Very interesting car, but looks like most other too.
Hellooooooo! Always my favourite bit! Ive only got short arms so the steering wheel will be too far away if im sat on the right. Nice van!
Mr Ditton..... MAJESTIC start to your adventure ! To bad you don’t like to come to Italy 😢
Time is against us :(
Maybe some other time !!
Have you ever been here ? Just curious
Twice. By motorcycle through the alps and down to Ancona for the ferry to Greece and back. Also by train to Pisa, Sienna, and Elbe. Loved it.
I’m glad you did. Lori and I plan to move there from Alabama USA, get a van and tour around Europe. We love your Carrado,
My wife and I are looking at this sort of size, looks great. She must have a WC, I’m more interested in the campsites etc.
Review coming soon Ken, stay tuned!
Hi Andrew! We're back on a 4G mobile signal so have been able to catch up with this at last. I was giggling a lot at the steering wheel bit at the beginning! Hope it's going well, we are looking forward to more of your trip. Stephen
Nice vídeo. Have a safe trip.
Great video it’s nice to see the everything is on the correct side. I am surprised is see it’s not an automatic. Most people on this side can’t drive a standard drive.
Automatic is an option but costs considerably more and is less fuel efficient, hence manual being the 'standard' spec over here.
Happy trails Andrew
Cheers Bernie in Palm Springs
Cheers Bernie!
You’re funny! You had me laughing so hard non stop and it’s midnight. I think I woke the neighbors up! Lol!
Love the internal and external colours. Makes a change from the usual White. Dougal seemed a bit overwhelmed, bliss. Really looking forward to the rest of your adventure. J&P
It is a lovely colour, but a pain to photograph! ;@)
Oh. I am sure a man with your photographic skills will have a work round. Looks a nice Van Andrew and the storage is very impressive for its size. J&P. PS Hope your settling in now.
Really impressed with the storage except for the lack of cup holder. Seems like a Fiat thing. Nice interior...another great video.
Gillian Wilson The cup holder seems to be a free option instead of the lockable compartment on the fiat base build on most conversions
Merci Andrew ☺ but i missed your vidéos with your caravan.......😥
Andrew is a profesional of Van , is fantastic., !! Buen viaje amigo ¡¡
Gracias amigo! :)
😂 you had me cracking up at the beginning. Look very nice 👍🏻
Did you feel you could truly relax and lounge about? I always feel most van conversions are brilliantly thought through but, come a rainy day, can I read a book for a few hours and be generally slobish?!
In a word - no. This layout definitely suits outdoor living in warmer climes Christopher.
Sorted a van now !its ur fault to much inspiration lol.
From Paul Jenny and Rocky at Ayr camc
Just a thought I wonder what side the steering wheel will be on😂
Yay! What did you go for?

Andrew, I bought a van in dusseldorf in August last year, it could be delivered next month
Seeing your new adventure, makes me impatient ,👻
Thanks Carado

Check out my earlier vid of Camper Van Essentials for the toast question ;@)
The second wardrobe looks like it has little bits to push in to allow the shelf to come out?
Yes, you're right, those clips are different. I still can't work them and there is no manual so I'll ask Carado, thanks!

Which Airstream do you have?
I have the International 532, sadly no longer made. The Missouri is the closest model you can get today.
Andrew Ditton how long is it
Forgot to say, isn't there a cup holder to the right of the console?
No, that's an ashtray and too small to hold a cup.

🤣🤣🤣Dougal cracks me up!
Might it be pronounced 'Flow' as a V is spoken as an 'F' in German?
Andrew , the first image with the van and title is very good. You're getting so professional at this! I was making German potato salad when I turned on the vlow. How appropriate 😆. That dinette looks very close. Must be made for matchstick people. Lots of storage though. Have fun!
I agree with your comment about the dinette ... I'd need a Henry VIII type cut out to squeeze in there!

The dinette is always the problem in these van conversions.
Useful to know, thanks!
First impressions are good Andrew. Looks solidly built and looks smart as well. There's always going to be some give and take when comparing similar vehicles, so looking forward to you putting it through it's paces over the next couple of weeks.
Is Sir Dougal slightly happier with his new abode?....🐶😊
Nice one Andrew. Safe travels...👍👍 Andy.
Sir Dougal finds the new accommodation acceptable ;@)
Fancy that
They put the stearing wheel on the wrong side..
Big👍
Now it just made me think if in English Andy and Andrew is the same😳 If not sorry
I'm so excited Andrew! I'm first btw!!!
Lol
Can you sit up in bed unlike the previous one please?
Nope, same rules apply :-/
