A long time ago you gave me the best advise ever in one of your previous troop type videos. Archers, I have followed that and I have never looked back. Best CIV, best equipment, best Skill damage, best ski. Types

Infantry dont have much going for them, but there is so many cavalry players that i believe that infantry is still pretty strong. If lets say there is 50-70% of players who plays cav or consider themselves cav mains, having an infantry march countering almost every march on the field isnt something to ignore. For that reason it makes infantry stronger than suggested in this video but i do agree that infantry do lose on paper by quite a bit. (btw the 50-70% is from what ive seen from my own experience it is not factual statistics)

You mentioned which troop types counter each other at the end, and it would be helpful to understand just how big of an impact that plays. Is it simply the variation in base stats that accounts for which troop type counters another, or is there some other bonus/effect?
Depending how big of an impact a troop type's ability to counter another is, that may be another factor to consider. Archers seeing the troop type they counter on the field 40% of the time, infantry 50%, and cavalry 10% (using the vote results for approx usage).

lilith hates inf. because lot of f2p and low spenders go for it. you can just see that by them saying they won't add inf. castle to soc shop. Cav>>Arc>Inf Imo. Infantry have absolutely no pros compared to other troop types. And for inf. mains stop saving 650000 season coins for SOC shop infantry city theme. They won't be adding that until games dies.

I think it balances out everything infantry related is easy to get as a f2p. If they made infantry op there would be no need for cavs or archers. Everyone would run infantry to save money
@@star9221 I mean scipi prime is great but other than him.. I don’t know. Honestly nevsky is arguably the best commander in game followed by william xy and joan. Cavs just crazy imo. And Infanty is just trash as of now. Lilith knows that lot of f2p and low spenders go for inf. So they won’t enhance it. Always been like that
I recently messaged customer service and they said they are already planning to launch inf skin due to high request from players.
@@vishnuajay1422 nop thats not what ive heard from the conference lilith held recently in korea. If they release infantry theme castle in SOC shop the gap between F2P and P2W will be decreased. Thats not fair for medium spenders like me. Honestly, there should be way bigger gap between F2P and P2W players

Cavalry has the best overall equipment by far.
Archer has the best set, but 0 flexibility. Every non-set piece for Archers is attack, they only have 1 health piece of equipment outside of the set but it overlaps with the health piece from set.
Infantry is about the same as Archer strength overall but can get their patterns a lot easier.

Isn't it possible to just mix both archers and cavs together? I'm new to the game so idk how it really works but couldn't you just choose the ottomans or Germany, depending what you want as a main troop, then support that main troops with the secondary troop? For example, I can choose ottoman (since im f2p) and get great commanders for them, but then when in battle, put the cavalry with all the health stats in front of the archers. I got no clue how the game works so bear with me lol
Well you can mix ur army i usualy go with 3/1/1 build 3 cav 1 inf 1 archer and putting cav infront of archer dosent work like that i think.
I like the cav blue set, it has so much march speed. In fact I went out of my way to get the entire set and have the fastest march alive
You must mean the windswept set . And it is equally for cavalry and infantry

I disagree with archers being second from a f2p/low spend perspective, purely because of how focused, squishy and slow archers are in the open field.
I run 2 cav, 2 inf and 1 archer. Worst trades most focused down is my archer pair every time.

@@jimmydebus3717 Because YSG is so versatile and you don't need to use him with archers if you put him second, especially in the early game.
I use ramases for barb forts and peacekeeping because of the defense reduction and healing
Archers are underrated mostly because of how bad they are in pre-SOC and how difficult it is for a new player to specialise into them. However, if you are willing to suffer through KVK 1, 2, and 3 with just being in a supporting role and saving lots of GH, then archers do get paid off in a big way in SOC. Most players don't specialise into archers because they don't want to wait all the way to SOC to finally get good commanders, but if you are willing to do that, then its a good path.
I don’t think specializing in one unit type is good for anyone. You will run out of troops in SoC and not have enough of the other types for filling rallies and garrisons.
@@pmin5554 By specialize, I mean 3/1/1. No one ever means (or should ever mean) literally every march.
@@alnorth I think having 3 archer marches is big waste. You literally have to have 2 cav marches before working on third archer cuz Xy, nev, willy and joan are all so good
@@ollimikkola7168 Fair enough, you do have to acknowledge however all the other intrinsic advantages archers have. We have by far and away the best combat civ in ottoman (I switch to germany during offseason). We also have the most forgiving set of free to play and low-spender equipment with an amazing epic set, and our full legendary set without KVK helm or weapon is also the best. And we have a vast wealth of good field-fighting commander selection too. Lilith has kind of stacked the deck in favor of archers in SOC. Yes, going hard into archers as a brand-new player really sucks badly early on and it means basically punting KVK's 1 through 3 as a weak support player while hoarding gh, but if you are willing to do that I think its worth it.
@@alnorth The thing is being focused on 1 troop type is just dumb. EVERYBODY should aim to expertise Scipio, Guan, Nevsky, Joan, William and boudica. I agree that archers have most decent open field commanders but only boudica is top tier. going for third archer march is just a bad idea currently. Also Cavs pretty much have better epic gear than archers, just the helmet has to be blue

I think the amount of health and defense stats on epic and legendary cav equipment edges archer equipment.
Forget gear, archers are slow and get massively focused. Reason I'm only running 1 archer march, 2 cav, 2 inf.

Just a question Chis,
Why is it that in real life the cycle of which troop type trumps who is Infantry strong against Archers, Archers strong against Cavalry, and Cavalry strong against Infantry. Yet it's the opposite way around in RoK? Anyway, love your videos and I myself, am more of a mix but leans towards the archers. :)
RoK has it the right way around, which is what we can see from history because pikemen (inf) slay Cav, Cav have the mobility and armor to smash archers, and archers have the range and arrows to decimate infantry.

Hospital cap is nice, but not really a premium field stat. Certainly not when compared to march speed and skill damage. Arabia is great, and in that regard cavs have a META rally civ but miss out on a field/garrison civ.
It’s cav but I advocate for archers so I have more troops to kill on the field 🥸

I would do Pakal/Harold Guan/Leo Alex/Scipio and keel Martel and a Richard on the bench

The issue with archer commanders is that most of them are MGE comms which are far harder to invest in than wheel ones.
Also, the 6 piece archer set being great is a down side, NOT an upside, because set BPs are far harder to get for non whales. You can get the non set cav/inf gear much easier.
Archers are a great late game whale option, but theyre really bad for the average player.
I've always been curious as to exactly what it means to "counter" a troop type...it says deals increased damage, but I wish we could get exact numbers on that.

I like Calvary over others. At the moment I can only run 4 marches, 2 infa and 2 calvs. But I lean heavy to calv because of their speed

I don't think your analysis is fair, you don't really mention about the rally/garison where Cavalry shines in rallying (cities, pass, barb stuff...) and it's absolutely insane that Zeno is still relevant for infantry. Actually, I feel that archers commanders are getting outdated way too fast compared to Infantry and Cavalry.
In my opinion, the fact that the open field is packed with full nevsky, xy, joan make your archer march really weak.
That's also funny that archer is the only unit that can't do cheeseburgering like A/T - Pakal/Haral.
Also keep in mind that archers start to be viable way later in the game stage than cavalry or infantry.
To finish, what people really underestimate is that a lot of events favor cavalry (everything linked with barbs basically)
Hopefully, everything will change with the new updates, we really need to give more love to archers.

What would you say is the best civilization for f2p? I was told germany because of its action point recovery and troop training. But started off with china because of the build boost. Im currently CH12 431k power and am hitting a big climbing wall. Your thoughts?
I’d stay China until you upgrade to ch.21 and unlock T4 then switch to Germany

Since the release of that video, Lilith added lots of infantry commanders and I think the commanders are for now bettter than cav commanders, sargon and Tariq are being unstoppable

I'm cav for 2 reasons. I like the march speed and the equipment for cav has tons of health
But this is not optimal for many reasons eg in season of conquest you will not have enough support skills to add to five marches.

Archer: Ottoman Empire
Cav is the king now..the only strong open field for infantry is guan, scipio. While for cavs, gosh there's a bunch of choices.
I think the problem with archers is that their absolute best commanders are locked behind mge.. most players can't compete on that specially against whales.. unless it's a fixed mge.. the strong archers you can get from wheel is only boudica and ysg.. Cyrus and Ramses are also in the wheel but commanders like Nebu, artimisia, and tomyris, are arguably better than those 2..

Infantry probably got upvoted due to Zenobia’s dominance. Archers are the only troop to not have an overly OP meta at any time. Remember A/T at release??? Unstoppable. Zeno at release??? Unstoppable. Archers have never had a turn of being unstoppable.
Amani art garrison was insane when it first released. And Henry rallies right now are really powerful. I do strongly agree though that archers are very overdue for a meta garrison.

Archers just cost so much. Infantry and cavalry can get by with many 5511 commanders, while archers need to expertise almost everything.
The KvK city themes are exceptionally ridiculous as an infantry player.

It’s great early game as the blue equipment is the best. It’s the best troop type for pve too. Late game I would not recommend anyone stick to one troop type.

Most people who are focused on inf and cav prioritise their archer march dead last, so they tend to have worse equipment and nonexpertised commanders more often. That's not really the fault of the unit type.
Calvary is the best. Lilith hates infantry because f2p players use it

If cav is the strongest, why is the kvk shop so heavily biased against city skins for infantry. Seriously, give us, inf specialized users, a break.
They won’t because infantry users are usually f2p or low spenders. Its good for lilith to enhance and provide for cav/arc mains because they are the ones who actually spends money into this game. There’s absolutely no reason to give a legendary infantry city theme to f2p infantry players. Thats not fair for spenders
