Since negotiations have been happening since April or at least talks. the only thing that makes sense to me is they are probably using the advice from a consulting firm and this is all part of their plan

Maybe they shouldn't take so long puffing their chests then. The sooner they give an acceptable offer, the sooner the workers get back to work. It's Boeing's own fault they are dragging their feet. The end result is the same but they are the ones throwing temper tantrums not wanting to give an acceptable offer. They know exactly what it will take. It's just a matter of how long Boeing wants to drag it out before they give them what they demand.
This last offer was stellar. No entry level employees in the area can hope to even get close to this. The strikers are being selfish, and thousands of people have lost their jobs or have been furloughed.
Think about this: Boeing had 45 billion in cash when they put that stupid MCAS System on the 737 MAX that ended up killing 360 souls, with the two crashes. Then Boeing had to go out and raise 62 Billion dollars. And now the company needs another 19 Billion dollars. What did the company do to get this Karma?

And the union wants pension restored (never going to happen) 40% pay bump (maybe) more sick time & vacation time, better health insurance. False. currently the starting wages are $16-26/ph, there are 11 different grades, max out max grade takes 6 yrs and is $51/ph (very few ever get that high) the Avg machinist pay is 75.6k. yes many can make much more and thousands are well below that figure, hence the AVG number. the company squandered $68-Billion since 2012 on stock buy backs and dividends.. all while pay the workers 8% wage increases spread over 10 years!

The Striking Machinist House Rents, Mortgages and Medical Bills could determine how long this strike could last.
These numbers are incorrect! Because Boeing didn't sell $5.5B in planes in the quarter doesn't mean that it won't make that delivery next quarter. It delays the sales but doesn remove it off its order book!!! $10B is unrealistic and not the real cost which is around $1B a day.
This is about ideology and class warfare, the billionaire class would rather burn the business to the ground then capitulate to a union. They will pay themselves hundreds of millions then layoff productive workers while they produce nothing themselves.

Boeing's China strategy is failing them here. If they had set up a proper China branch with airplane construction the way Airbus has, they could bring in spare parts from overseas and be less vulnerable to strikes.
The finishing center in China is part of the "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" strategy. To secure orders from Chinese airlines, Boeing has to provide something beyond the airplanes (investment, technology transfer, etc.). The company's supply chain is already spread across the world.
Boeing should pay appropriate residual wages.
