Jimin has been called the Korean MJ and the Korean Chris Brien. Absolutely he idolizes and gets inspiration from MJ, Chris Brown and Usher. They’ve always been his favourites. He is the one member in BTS who has been formally trained in popping, locking, contemporary, and modern dance, including ballet. He is the reigning King of KPop and has been named a dance prodigy by some experts in the field. He’s also beautiful beyond words, not just outside but inside too.
He did have a hand in the choreo as well. BTS has ridiculously good choreographers inside and outside (contract); but as a soloist he has input and always puts his own ‘spin’ on the moves.

Jimin has a unique voice and in BTS he contributed mostly to the high range. Jimin's voice is the icing on the cake for BTS songs. He added so much color to them. Jimin studied contemporary dance and his dancing usually incorporate contemporary interpretive dancing, his performances are works of art. He has this grace that marked his dancing as "JIMIN". Yes while the choreo copied others or has whoever and whoever vibes, Jimin injected himself into them making his dancing unique. World Champion Figure Skater Yuzuru Hanyu said he studied Jimin dancing to be better at his skating. What we see in this MV is something anybody has never seen anywhere - the choreo are all made of different moves, they keep going but they moves are all different, its like a story flowing, a big part of interpretive dancing. Jimin is such a trail blazer. Other than King of Kpop he has also been voted Best Kpop dancer for 6 years in a row. Jimin is the undisputed iTunes King with 5 songs getting an ALL KILL (getting #1 on the iTunes of all 119 regions that has iTunes), WHO is set to join. Other than Jimin, V from BTS has 1 song with the AK, BTS has 1 song (actually a solo song by Jimin but under BTS album) and then nobody else, not even Taylor Swift. iTunes is one place where payola and ads cannot reach, driven solely by fans and hence we can see that Jimin is immensely popular ALL OVER THE WORLD. Jimin wrote all the songs in his solo albums (this from the 2nd MUSE, first one FACE was critically acclaimed). Every Jimin song has a different sound. Check out "Set Me Free Pt2" and "Like Crazy", "Serendipity, "Lie", "Filter" and you will be amazed by how different they are from each other. "Smeraldo Garden Marching Band" is a fun song though with a fun choreo that anybody can do because its a song for fans. Jimin doesnt mind doing simple kiddie things because he doesnt have an ego. So Jimin also has the title of Versatile King. Jimin's song he wrote for himself PROMISE is the most downloaded song of all time in Soundcloud. In a recent video interview, RM (leader of BTS) said that BTS is successful primarily because of Jimin. He added that Jimin is very visible and helps to elevate BTS. This is true, I got into BTS because of Jimin. Jimin is also known as an angel because of his angelic voice and his personality in real life always helping others and putting others above himself. It is to no surprise that when they made the main theme song for the Fast and Furious X soundtrack called "Angel", they invited Jimin for it.

All 7 members of BTS (3 rappers & 4 vocalists) consider Michael Jackson to be a musical mentor for them - although not just music, their performances, quality music videos and even fashion have been influenced by him.
I got into BTS because of Michael Jackson (he’s my ultimate idol) through the tribute they paid to him via their song Dynamite. As a MJ fan the thing that pleases me most is how constant they are in their respect and admiration of him. The leader of BTS, RM rapped about how cool Michael Jackson is in one of the first videos BTS posted to TH-cam in 2012, before they even debuted. And it has been constant ever since…
Maybe because I’m a huge MJ fan, I fell really hard for BTS. They’re all round entertainers like him. Their music sounds great in the studio but they’re even better live. They always put on a great show. Once you explore them more you’ll see what I mean.

@@GeoffreyJohny Yes there are lots of great guides and documentaries. The best one (my opinion but I’m sure many others will have recommended this also) is Taylor Mari’s Guide to the Bangtan 7. It’s about 45 minutes long but don’t worry plenty of ARMYs will watch the whole thing with you!

✨Jimin’s name is credited in 6/7 songs, writing & composing for his already highly successful, record breaking 2nd album MUSE. (Jimin even was the one who choreographed “Who” the title song for MUSE! Jimin is also credited producing, with the exception of a couple of songs. Even on Jimin’s previous FACE album, (Jimin’s song “Set Me Free Pt.2” is from his FACE album), though Jimin wasn’t credited producing, aside from Jimin composing most melodies, & pretty much writing all the lyrics, he indeed was involved, participating, as shown in Jimin’s FACE production documentary. Even though also not credited for song “Who” from his MUSE album, Jimin is always hands on, coming up with the concept of the song, what he wanted the lyrics to be about & mean. The concept photos even have Jimin in more of a rocker look with electric guitar, “Who” which is the title track which indeed MV of which does always get released the same time the album officially drops! The look of the MV, the quality of the filming, and especially the way Jimin looks, the way he walks, but most of all, his on another level, breathtakingly spectacular vocals, stratospheric high notes, Jimin’s equally breathtaking, absolutely spectacular, also on another level, dancing, as well as the stunning choreography, which Jimin created, along with the amazing backup dancers, makes this all the more enjoyable, to watch! Absolutely everything on another level. Jimin rushed to Hungary only for a ever so short couple of days to film this MV there, cramming in as much as he could just a month or so before leaving to the military, end of December last yr. Military is mandatory for S. Koreans, Working non stop on first FACE, then immediately after on MUSE , til the very night before he left for military the following day! Jimin is avery much a fan of MJ yes, infact all of BTS do seem to appriciate MJ. Jimin is a trained comteporary dancer and he has a lot of experiance from being in BTS too.
BTS is apart from Jin are all int he military currently but by md/late June next year they will all be out.

So, when Jimin was a trainee, his favorite artist was Usher. And Usher, as we all know, was hugely influenced by MJ. So, yes, you could definitely say that MJ is one of Jimin's influences. :) Also, if you're into the dance side of things, his favorite dancer -- again, when he was a trainee, at least -- was Brian Puspos. And Brian recently was one of the members of Jung Kook's dance crew for his Golden album. Brian also choreographed BTS's "Butterfly" and Jimin's BTS solo "Serendipity." 💜
