yea the effect has been changed,more colors and the background bug is worse,it shouldn't disappear,look like nintendo have some issues in super fx emulation.
the mosaic effect is being applied to the foreground, though. this seems like an intentional change, though I can't quite understand why (doesn't seem like flashing the background like that would be good for epilepsy...)

I was really little at the time, like 6 years old. When I got older, about 9 years old I was like "wait, is Yoshi.....? Nah, just my corrupted mind". I showed my best friend who was 14 at the time and she was like "yep, Yoshi's definitely not just 'dizzy' there". And then I had to show my friends at school this old Mario game my parents let me play where Yoshi takes drugs. They didn't believe me, so I invited them over to the house and I played this level and we all laughed about it for a solid 20 minutes. And then I showed them the other two levels with fuzzies "Go Go Mario" and "Watch Out For The Spinning Logs" and in those, especially the latter of the trio, eating a fuzzy wasn't as fun and safe as it was in this level. I didn't care. I ate fuzzies anyway.
I wanted to revisit this level because I thought I was exaggerating as a kid by saying that it had made me want to throw up (multiple times), but upon revisiting the level years later I have found that I indeed was not exaggerating.
I guess everyone's reaction before laughing is either "OMG, I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS!" or "WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED???" when we all touched our first Fuzzy

I was 6 years old, playing my mom's copy of the game so I was just some innocent kid who thought Yoshi was dizzy, then I was some not-so-innocent kid when I was 9 who realized what was going on and showed her friends from school "this really old Mario game where Yoshi takes drugs".
On a side note I just wanted to say how cool it was to have Gary on the last episode, I’m big fan of Wof so you just made my day big time, it’s always cool to see some of my favorite internet folks hanging out together.

Looks like it still doesn't render 100% correctly to me -- I don't recall the background flickering out of existence when you touch a fuzzy in the SNES version.
There's normally a pixellated flash of light when you touch fuzzy, so it looks to me like they removed the pixel-flash as part of their crusade against epilepsy-inducing effects - the fade effect that appears now reminds me of some of the revisions made to the NES mini. So likely not an emulation error but rather a bit of deliberate tampering.
I know we all laugh about this but it's really serious. Yoshi got heavily addicted to fuzzies and ended up gaining a ton of weight (as seen in Super Mario RPG) Luckily he got clean and lost the weight right before his tennis career really started to take off.

If you look at yoshis eyes when hes dizzy you can see that his eyes are wide open and filled with rainbows
