Hi! 👋 It truly is a beautiful woodland with some very ancient trees. The deers were so loud, we usually hear them in the evening when we're camping but not very often during the day! I would've loved to have seen the stag! Thanks, Natalia! All the best to you 😊

Thank you! I finally got to hear deer barking. I once had a Texan roommate who said his brother looked for mushrooms. He would find them under cow dung, but he didn't want the sheriff's deputies to see him look, as those mushrooms are hallucinogenic.
My company is closed down from Christmas to New Years, and we're having great hiking weather (temperature ranges from about 8°C in the morning to about 23°C in the afternoon), so I've been indulging in some hikes myself. Christmas morning I encountered a disoriented woman 90 minutes in. She didn't seem to understand my directions, so I tried to guide her myself. At one point she went on a different fork of the trail than I. I told her that trail led back into the mountains, but she kept going. I hope it worked out for her. Friday I went back there and wasn't interrupted by anyone, but my own infirmity caused me to take a side trail over the mountain pass instead of following the loop. I still took 4½ hours, but at my age I don't think it prudent to push myself more than that in one day.

I'm glad you could hear them! We've heard them in the night while camping, but it's not often you get to hear them this close during the day! I was half expecting the stag to come charging out of the bracken!
      Haha - magic mushrooms!!
Glad you've got time off to enjoy some hiking! I'm off too until the new year, but sadly, we've got some very murky, foggy weather hanging over us, so very limited daylight hours. We've been out on a couple of short walks, so it's not all bad. We usually head to the coast on gloomy days as they're quieter and quite atmospheric.
I walking routes are a lot shorter now even in summer weather - my head says "go further!" But the body says "OK that's enough!" 🤣
Enjoy your week! All the best, Jenny 👍

You should give it a visit, it's very worth it! The barks were so loud and close... certainly stopped me venturing any further into the woodland! Haha! Yep, see you in 2025!! Take care, Jenny 😃

Loved the wood Jenny - there were some old veterans in there including a dew fungi for your fungi fest. I have to say I like a nice spot of bench life too if it's being offered. The location is key though - a couple of gooduns here. Well, good listening stations for the deer. Awesome sound. Hey, I'm an owl pellet enthusiast too. I love to fig inside them - you're not so odd tell Robert. That was a good walk. Have a great 2025 both. All the best. Mark

It's a fantastic woodland, isn't it... it has apparently been passed through many families, bishops, and noblemen over a 1000 years! It really is a gem of a woodland. And the two times we've been, we've only seen a handful of people, so it seems to be quite a hidden gem. Haha... Robert certainly loves his benches - I joke about him having a TH-cam channel dedicated to benches, haha! I was really excited but also quite terrified that a stag was going to come charging through the bracken. It was that close! I decided not to venture any further into the woodland but return to the path haha! I was actually annoyed at myself for not taking the whole pellet home! When I was a child, my mum would be horrified to find my bone finds spread over the kitchen work surfaces! I'd even collect animal sculls! To be honest, I still can't resist a good bone find!
Thanks, Mark. All the very best to you, too 😊

@@bumblejennybee88 Great to hear of the history and present day Jenny and of Roberts bench life - not a bad idea there. That stag sounded epic. Re-the bones and pellets keep on searching and enjoying. A pleasure.

Hi jenny robert, great vid as always. Another woodland that looked awesome for camping 👍. What was robert looking for under that corrugated sheet (slow worms adders?)

Hi Rob! Thanks... it's a great woodland, isn't it! You'd definitely be hidden away on a stealth camp! There were a few of those sheets... we were hoping to find slow worms. I did find a newt and something that scurried away, shrew sized. We're definitely going to go back in spring/summer this year and hopefully might find an Adder. It's been years since I've seen one!
All the very best to you for this new year, 😊
