Mike + the Mechanics were great. Living Years, a total classic. I loved Silent Running too. Genesis was good, but Mike's move to his own group was just magic to me. I used to play How Long at the radio station in the late 80s, it was still in the rotation for an easy listening station back then.

For me "How Long" is one of those multi-faceted songs that I can listen to again and again, each time finding some distinctive element that I can focus on, and then return to the whole piece. It's like a classic movie. There is so much there that I can pay attention to the different parts in different combinations endlessly.
I wonder how it felt for the bass player to play that song over and over knowing it was about him. Reminiscent of Nicks and Buckingham on a couple of their songs. It's weird that he doesn't like his early voice ― it's iconic! I admit I was taken aback by his speaking accent given his singing voice. What a delightful man, especially for giving props to his favorite cover of this song. I loved Ace and every band he fronted. Thanks for yet another great interview, Adam. Have an excellent day!
I probably sang along to the radio each time one of his songs played. Never realizing that the same person put the songs out or wrote them. Awesome Talent! Thanks Professor.
Thank you! I have LOVED this guy's voice for too many years to count! I never understood why he is not on more people's radar. Glad you put the spotlight on him here!
“How Long” is one of THE BEST songs of the 70s-hands down! In my Top 10… Paul Carrack is amazing, and his record of being the voice of 4 different acts has always impressed me so. Glad you gave him props!
"In The Learning Years" it reminded me of brother who was only 11 months older than I was. We were in the same grade from kindergarten up because I was held back from starting a year earlier. I spent a lot of time watching out for him because he was born with polio and had a short leg, restricted growth, and had seizures. Well in our freshman year of high school some friends were having a party on their families pontoon boat on the Mississippi River where we lived close by. I had to go help my dad on work at home so I couldn't go with him. They run down the river to a town down the river about fifteen miles. To get to the public docks there was a lock and dam to through. During the lock through my brother had a seizure and fell over board into the lock. Some of those on the boat dove in to try to grab him. There was a tow boat going through at the same time and the undertow and current in the lock was to much for them to get to him. He was found the next day down river from the dam. I have always felt that I should have been with him so I could of got hold of him when he seized. The song always reminded me of him and his attitude about life and the importance of openly talking about things and to take time for people you know and those that you don't. He always said that life was to short to get hung up on things you can't change. Paul's singing and Mc Donald's seemed to reach into your soul and make you think and remember.
I've been a HUGE fan of Paul Carrack since I first heard him, both in Squeeze and Ace. His band and solo albums have been in constant rotation all my life. I'm proud to share his genius with anyone and everyone I meet...one of the greatest, most versatile voices EVER!
What a wonderful vocalist Paul is. The real deal and his success with multiple bands is no accident. How Long fit the mid-70s smooth rock vibe like a glove. Check out the studio version of it that he did in 2010-amazing. Great interview, Adam!
I really enjoy the fact that your sincerity and thoughtfulness makes your praise so meaningful to these artists Mr. Carrack is not the first nor will he be the last to show his appreciation for you and your work!
Thanks for another fantastic interview Adam! I had the privilege of seeing Paul years ago (early 80's) at a bar in Gainesville, FL. He was touring playing kybd/vocals with Nick Lowe. They even did Squeeze's 'Tempted' during the set..very cool. Your interview showed what a super nice and humble guy he is. I really enjoyed that. Thanks again!
How Long...Such a powerful, soulful melody and song. Love it... thanks for covering this Adam! It will be wonderful to learn about Ambrosia's Holdin' On To Yesterday and The Players Baby Come Back. Guess both these songs are powerful and soulful too. Hope this request for suggested songs are considered by you and your team to be worthy of exclusive coverage. Thank you for bringing and sharing happiness with us.🌍
I’ve been waiting for this episode for a while now. One of my all time favourite songs is The Living Years. From e hen he fronted Mike and the Mechanics. It still puts a lump in my throat. Especially after my dad died. I still miss him everyday. He was an amazing man. Everyone knew him and everyone loved him. Paul’s ability to make you feel what he wants you to feel was amazing. Few artists can do this, but he can and it brings the songs he sings to a whole different level.
I LOVE Paul Carrack's voice! I was a young teen working in a college town pizza shop when ACE had their hit "How Long ( has this been going on )" . It was in the restaurant's jukebox. I played it over and over, addicted to the loping bassline and Carrack's amazingly soulful vocals. "Tempted" still makes me sing along in harmony. That song is infectious! Viva Paul Carrack! Bravo, Professor.
This is elite level content. I'm blown away and taken back, everytime I watch a new video. The Nostalgia is fantastic, but the details, deep dives, interviews, and information are what sets this channel apart. Thanks, Professor, you are truly appreciated by me!
I have so much Paul Carrack in my collection it's amazing. He is so prolific. It's not just his voice but he writes truly great songs and plays almost every instrument on many of his recordings. He is an inspirational musician and awesome singer.
I love Paul Carrack...Especially how he's not above interacting with his fans...he generally shoots back comments to questions asked on social media..Just last week I asked him how does he maintain his youthful looks, he responded, clean living...may not seem much, but for someone following him closely for 40 years, it made my day..😎
How Long is one of his songs that I remember particularly well. One of those songs you would hear late at night drifting in from some far away AM station. Holding On to Yesterday by Ambrosia is another. What kid didn’t stay up late listening to distant stations with headphones for privacy and learning to love how spooky it was. Paul Carrrack’s songs always seemed to be among the ones I would hear, especially the ethereal ones. Back when we actually listened to radio. Those were the days…
Great singer. How Long is a timeless classic. Also loved his track "Eyes of Blue" from the mid-90s. Great interview as ever Adam, always full of passion for the songs covered and well worth a listen.
"How Long" in 1975 was 1 of my favorite songs back then. Long before internet existed or ability to look up songs, that was a song I never did know the artist of like many growing up in the 70's. Back then I'd goto record stores & sing unknown songs to employees hoping they'd recognize them & they'd play various 45rpm records on their in-store turntable hoping to find it. Believe it or not....record stores would play "singles" for ppl all the time to let U listen to it...meaning the singles U purchased had often already been played dozens or 100's of times before U purchased the record "Brand New".lol (I later became a singer in the Music industry btw.) It's wild that I remember ALL those Hits over the decades the singer of ACE did since 1975 & NEVER had any idea it was the SAME guy! This is what I love about fellow DJs starting from Casey Kasem on up thru this guy here (who no doubt was highly influenced by him) is no matter how much U think U know about Music including myself also working in Radio back in the 80's there's always new & exciting stories & info we never knew about various bands & singers growing up. If MTV or VH1 still existed as they were back in the 80's this TH-cam Music Documentary channel 100% would have been a mega hit TV show! What's also really spectacular is that yrs ago U could NEVER get interviews with these big Stars UNLESS you were a top reporter with a Newspaper/Mag or with a major Radio/TV station. I give very high respect for the professionalism exhibited here in the presentation of these great in depth episodes.
Absolutely, Paul Carrack is one of my picks for an overlooked talent... The man can make a song pop with his incredible vocal range. Born in the early 70s, my influences were guys like Dan Fogelberg, Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Croce... But, once I heard Mr. Carrack, my view of music was forever altered. Thank the heavens for bringing such gifted singers in my life ❤
I just love the way the artists enjoy talking to you. You talk about the joys of songwriting and playing that I am sure most interviews never get into these gritty, details that they enjoy sharing
Great interview. Paul said it best, his voice is at its prime. I can't and won't judge his being in different bands. Each provides him with many opportunities to expand his talents... which translates into great music for us to listen to.
@@ProfessorofRock Man, I don't remember much. Only the fact that he had giants of the British music scene in the band such as Dave Bronze on bass and Tim Renwick on guitar, played a small venue. The other time he opened for Sting.
I was listening to one of my playlists a few hours ago, and I had "How Long" on the list, and of course I absolutely love it, thus why it is on the list 😊😎👍✌️💃💜
@@ProfessorofRock "In the Living Years" is a great song, who cares if it was over played. "Love will Keep us Alive" is a great one by Paul. Timothy Schmit version was weak by comparison.
i always learn something when i listen to your channel. there are so many songs i like that i had no idea mr. carrack was responsible for. i loved “how long”, “tempted”, “don’t shed a tear” and “the living years.” didn’t know this man’s voice was the main ingredient. i’m so glad that i know now!
There's another Pink Floyd connection.... the band played How Long as their soundcheck prior to a massive outdoor gig at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire (UK) in 1975.
Mike and the mechanics the living years album Christmas 1988 was my introduction to this amazing man Paul's vocal delivery on that entire album especially on songs such as the title track, nobody knows, don't and the phenomenal album closer why me? Hooked me and also his supe underrated 1989 solo effort groove approved totally sealed my fandom Paul's is in my list of top 20 male vocalists of all time
I saw Paul perform How Long in concert at the Paramount Theater in Seattle with The Squeeze in 81. They were opening for Elvis Costello & The Attractions. Incredible memory!
I KNEW IT 😄 The moment the Professor said 3 different bands and as a solo artist my mind went immediately to Paul Carrack. Absolutely astounding artist and I can truthfully say I hear his voice daily as he's all over my playlists, Squeeze, Ace, Mike & The Mechanics.....Marvelous Music and a great interview. Thank you, Professor Of Rock.....YOU ROCK!!!!!! 🥳💯💯🎶🎵🎶🎵
So glad to see that he seems like SUCH a super nice guy!! Have loved his voice and music for decades. Besides, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics, I have 4 or 5 of his solo albums, and love them!
Of course the obvious hits are favorites but I've got to mention two of his solo records from the 90s. "Beautiful World" and "Blue Views" are amazing. Well produced, well written, well performed and all surrounding one of the best and most under celebrated voices in all of music. This records could have had a dozen radio hits. SO SO GOOD! My feel-good music. Thanks for this interview, Adam. Please do "Don't Shed A Tear" next. Loved that when I was 16 back in '87!
Tony Burrows sang five hits for five different bands -- "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" by Edison Lighthouse, "United We Stand" by Brotherhood of Man, "My Baby Loves Lovin'" by White Plains, "Gimme Dat Ding" by The Pipkins and "Beach Baby" by First Class.
Tempted by Squeeze is in my Top 40 songs of all time. Also, didn’t know this singer had so many other hits as other brands. Amazing! -The Music Fan Man
Loved the interview… just wish there was more of his stuff covered too …. Loved Mike & The Mechanics…. ( didn’t know it was him for a long time….. and I loved Squeeze too !!!) Nice job as always !!!! Bob from Arizona… 61 years young !!!
Fun fact: "Tempted" was originally written by the guitarist in squeeze and he really wanted to sing it, (thus his part in the second verse,) but the producer I believe recognized that Paul's voice was a better fit and really pushed it and there we go.
What a great interview! Paul, while not a very technical singer, surely makes up for it with his soulfulness. How Long has got to be one of my favorite songs of all time. Even though the song is about the band, the way he sings it surely makes you think it’s about an affair. It’s always in my rotation.
What a great interview! Paul is look and sounding great. With so many artists of his era either passing or just unable to sing and write anymore it's good to see he is doing well. Long live Paul Carrack! ❤❤❤
Paul Carrack isn't the only one to have hits with multiple bands. UK session singer Tony Burrows racked up at least six big ones including 'Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes' (Edison Lighthouse), 'My Baby Loves Lovin' (White Plains), 'United We Stand' (Brotherhood of Man), 'Let's Go To San Francisco (Flower Pot Men, which included future Deep Purple member Jon Lord), 'Gimme Dat Ding' (the Pipkins) and 'Beach Baby' (the First Class). At one point he was appearing on Top of the Pops with multiple bands, so the BBC limited him to just one band per show, so as to quell public suspicions.
a high ranking member of the 'best unknown' category, if there ever was one. Music aficionados know him well, the masses not so much. A voice that will thankfully live on forever.
Great episode. Paul Carrick is one of my favorite vocalists. I was a huge Squeeze fan and when he joined them I was stoked. He hardly ever gets mentioned so I'm really glad you featured him. Keep up the great content.
I am wildly excited to watch this video. I put Paul up there with Steve winwood as one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time having hits as a solo artist as well as three different bands over a 20-year stretch is just amazing. Back in the 90s he put out a greatest hits album that I freaking love. Yet most people have no idea who he is when you say his name. I'm not exaggerating obviously Robert plant and Roger daltrey and people like that are special front men because they have everything you know the voice, the stage histrionics, the looks. And then there are the greatest "voices" like Ronnie James dio, ozzy, Steve Perry, Lou Graham, etc. If you were to hold a gun to my head and make me create a list, of the five greatest rock and roll front men of all time, no question that Steve winwood and Paul Carrack are at the very top of that list
Really impressed that you got this interview. He seems so down to earth and humble for someone so incredibly talented. In his various guises, he's contributed a large part of the soundtrack of my life.
In 1975 new albums I was listening to were Aerosmith Toys, Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti, Nazareth Hair of the Dog, Rush Fly by Night, Bad Company, etc. But some songs are just so good that they break down genre walls. How Long was one of those songs that everyone loved.
I was collecting the same stuff, but ALSO K-Tell compilation records. How Long was on the one for that year - I had NO IDEA it was Paul Carrack on vocals. It seems his register actually went up? Check out his performance of HEY YOU at The Wall concert in Germany (Potsdamer Platz) in 1990. Insanely well done....
In retrospect "How Long"is a true original. The first modern day Adult Rock song, although the format didn't hit until the 90s. The Silent Running is one of the mid 80s best songs, and showed what Mike and the Mechanics could have been.
Same here. Before I was introduced into 2k digital recording CD; my dad had cassettes tapes and midi of many variations of Rock aside from pop. Long story short after my cousin got me into hiphop/rap. Little did I know through high school I was only kid that knew Van Halen, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton etc. Everyone in my class were EMO typos. I was in a time when ppl did have to discover tracks like a treasure hunt before the internet and cover tracks (amateur) where barely a thing. I'm 90s raised for 70s over 80s 90s music.
Saw him about twenty years ago. He has made some good music- When You Walk In The Room is one of his best in my opinion. I cannot listen to The Living Years though as its lyrics proved all too prophetic in the circumstances preceding the sudden death of my father in 2020. Lessons have been learned but it is too late to turn back the clock. Tina Turner RIP- a lot of emotional and heartfelt coverage in the UK of her passing. Alex Petridis in The Guardian writes very well about her impact. Oh, what a voice but she also stood for so much more on many levels, as shown by the outpouring of tributes.
Hi 80s music; I had and have a similar problem with "The Living Years," as I feared I'd have when I had to play it on radio 1990-1994. I tried not to have it, but the lung cancer decline was fast, even though he quit smoking before I was born. At least the song's character had fulfillment of a baby later, unlike myself. For years, I only knew the Karla Bonoff version of "When You Walk In The Room." Then I heard Jackie DeShannon's original. What do you think of their versions? Paul's is good too as is his other work.
@@JPMJPM The reaction has been strong. She had a lot of success around the world; there can be few places where people did not know her. The UK was one of the places that took her to its heart in the eighties, and she worked with the BEF in 1982 and Martyn Ware of Heaven 17 on her Private Dancer album in 1984. It was not just the music and voice; the way she overcame adversity and blazed a trail for women to stand on their own terms were both significant too. I have been struck by how a lot of artists are taken for granted at the same time as lauded while alive but sometimes it is only when they die that the depth of their contribution is fully appreciated.

It is a shock even though she was advancing in years and had had health problems. Just seeing the banner headline across the screen last night and today is shocking- she is very much part of the soundtrack to so many of our lives going back well over forty years. One nugget I read today in the fulsome tributes is that Bowie told record label bosses she was his favourite singer; this played a significant part in her resurgence in the early eighties. The rest is history. We saw her live in Manchester in 2009- she did say in an interview some time later that on this tour she struggled to catch her breath. Not surprising given her age at the time and the amount of energy the singing and routines involved. Possibly a tour too far but still a crowd pleasing tour de force.
Artists like Paul are the reason the RRHOF should exist! Like many I've listened to him since the 70s and didn't always realize it. Silent Running is an important message (IMO) that should be heeded. I shared Living Years with my son not long ago as a "lesson" to live a full life. There have been several songs I've sent to him for that purpose. That's the power of music. It's trans-generational when it's good. Today's music will be forgotten. Thanks Professor for talking to legends like Paul and giving us information that we might not know.
Clearly one of your very best productions! This educated me and entertained me. I had no idea that so many songs that I loved were from the same man. It was truly a wow moment for me! You're awesome at what you do!👍👍
@@ProfessorofRock I can share my experiences with her. But my mother knew her quite well. She knew my mother by name because they looked so similar. Especially the legs🦵

I couldn't agree more!
Silent Running is and always has been one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME!
I never realized the same man was responsible for so many iconic scores. 😮
I guess I never listened close enough to realize he sang all those songs! He does have a great voice & has written some great ones!!
th-cam.com/video/H7m1PO7wvYM/w-d-xo.html
It’s kinda hard to believe, right?
I never knew he was part of all 3 bands with those hits until you had brought it up in a previous episode. He has an amazing voice.
It’s like Paul Rodgers.
For me "How Long" is one of those multi-faceted songs that I can listen to again and again, each time finding some distinctive element that I can focus on, and then return to the whole piece. It's like a classic movie. There is so much there that I can pay attention to the different parts in different combinations endlessly.
There are so many elements highlighted throughout.
Paul is a global treasure! Love his voice!
For sure!
Outstanding singer.
Check out The Mamas and the Papas’ story.
I probably sang along to the radio each time one of his songs played. Never realizing that the same person put the songs out or wrote them. Awesome Talent! Thanks Professor.
He was so dynamic.
Same here. No idea. Same with Steve Winwood. Learned it all here thanks to the Professor!
I knew that Paul Carrack was a formidable musical force, but I never dreamed that he was THAT prolific! Absolutely amazing!
Same here Debbie. Thanks Adam for another informative show !!
Love interviews like this. What a voice and likable guy.
Thank you! I have LOVED this guy's voice for too many years to count! I never understood why he is not on more people's radar. Glad you put the spotlight on him here!
“How Long” is one of THE BEST songs of the 70s-hands down! In my Top 10…
Paul Carrack is amazing, and his record of being the voice of 4 different acts has always impressed me so.
Absolutely LOVE "Tempted"! What an awesome interview!
What a wonderful vocalist Paul is. The real deal and his success with multiple bands is no accident. How Long fit the mid-70s smooth rock vibe like a glove. Check out the studio version of it that he did in 2010-amazing. Great interview, Adam!
Robster! Always a pleasure my friend! How's the weather down there?
I am going to check that out.
Robster, check out his Incredible version / Performance of “hey you” live at the Berlin Wall that Roger Waters hosted 21 July 1990
Thank you for bringing and sharing happiness with us.🌍
All great, haunting songs. Great choices!
Love this episode, thank you for interviewing Paul Carrack!
Incredible vocalist and musician. Paul even played keyboards on The Smiths' first album.
I had no idea! He’s a musical philanthropist!
I've been trying to track him down for years! Finally!
Thankfully my dad and grandpa are still here with us. Still, this song hits a nerve with me.
One of my favorite vocalists! Made East Side Story my favorite Squeeze album.
He brought the magic.
Headphones listens are always rewarding listens.
Thank the heavens for bringing such gifted singers in my life ❤
Love Paul’s voice. He’s so smooth. And How Long is just a part of my life from way back. A great song.
I just love the way the artists enjoy talking to you. You talk about the joys of songwriting and playing that I am sure most interviews never get into these gritty, details that they enjoy sharing
This was damn good Adam.
Great interview. Paul said it best, his voice is at its prime. I can't and won't judge his being in different bands. Each provides him with many opportunities to expand his talents... which translates into great music for us to listen to.
Much respect for mr. Carrack. Saw him live couple times in the mid-nineties in Barcelona.
Very cool. What'd he play?
@@ProfessorofRock Man, I don't remember much. Only the fact that he had giants of the British music scene in the band such as Dave Bronze on bass and Tim Renwick on guitar, played a small venue. The other time he opened for Sting.
Was he touring?
I was listening to one of my playlists a few hours ago, and I had "How Long" on the list, and of course I absolutely love it, thus why it is on the list 😊😎👍✌️💃💜
Paul's voice is a smooth version of Phil Collins and Phil's voice is very underrated. Paul can sing anything and make it sound like a hit.
What's your favorite song by him out of all of his groups?
@@ProfessorofRock "In the Living Years" is a great song, who cares if it was over played. "Love will Keep us Alive" is a great one by Paul. Timothy Schmit version was weak by comparison.
He’s kinda like Daryl Hall’s distant cousin.
@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980 Excellent comparison!
Yeah and at one point he looked like Phil with a bit more hair! Genesis should have grabbed this guy when Phil left after 1995.
i always learn something when i listen to your channel. there are so many songs i like that i had no idea mr. carrack was responsible for. i loved “how long”, “tempted”, “don’t shed a tear” and “the living years.” didn’t know this man’s voice was the main ingredient. i’m so glad that i know now!
Awesome.. His version of Hey You from the Wall in Berlin was incredible. 👍
I agree. He's done such amazing work.
I'll have to check that out 👍
It was pretty cool.
There's another Pink Floyd connection.... the band played How Long as their soundcheck prior to a massive outdoor gig at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire (UK) in 1975.
Loved Squeeze. Saw them in college at our Spring Fling 1982 Trinity College Hartford
Mike and the mechanics the living years album Christmas 1988 was my introduction to this amazing man Paul's vocal delivery on that entire album especially on songs such as the title track, nobody knows, don't and the phenomenal album closer why me? Hooked me and also his supe underrated 1989 solo effort groove approved totally sealed my fandom Paul's is in my list of top 20 male vocalists of all time
He's a special voice. Thanks for sharing George.
The Living Years is such a great song but Paul elevates it to unseen heights.
You really have a knack for interviewing these musicians in a way that is respectful and sincere. Good work.
I saw Paul perform How Long in concert at the Paramount Theater in Seattle with The Squeeze in 81. They were opening for Elvis Costello & The Attractions. Incredible memory!
Super cool!
How is his cover of ‘When You Walk In The Room’ not touched on in this?! It was a top ten hit here in Australia!
Totally agree. I love his version. Maybe us Aussies appreciated it more 🤷🏻♀️
So glad to see that he seems like SUCH a super nice guy!! Have loved his voice and music for decades. Besides, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics, I have 4 or 5 of his solo albums, and love them!
🚀🚀🚀LET'S TALK 👆👆👆ON TELEGRAM................................
Wow this channel manages to find all the songs of my childhood years and still manages to find others I had not heard in years. Amazing
THanks! What would you like to see next?
Have you not heard How Long in a while?
I hope you do more interviews with him. He in my opinion is the most underrated male vocalist in pop/rock music.
“Tempted” is one of the best songs EVER. And Ace’s song “How Long?” is in my Top 5 of all time. “Don’t Shed A Tear” was amazing, as well.
Tempted is infinitely singable. I’m surprised it hasn’t been covered more often. Glenn Tilbrook does a fine job on it. Would it have been such a hit?
Only for "How long" gets the credits in my heart!Greetings from Greece
One of the all-time great voices in rock/pop! Love that he is so humble… great interview!
Tempted by Squeeze is in my Top 40 songs of all time. Also, didn’t know this singer had so many other hits as other brands. Amazing! -The Music Fan Man
His resume is impressive.
Loved the interview… just wish there was more of his stuff covered too …. Loved Mike & The Mechanics…. ( didn’t know it was him for a long time….. and I loved Squeeze too !!!)
Nice job as always !!!!
Bob from Arizona… 61 years young !!!
Another interview concentrating on Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics would be awesome .
Fun fact: "Tempted" was originally written by the guitarist in squeeze and he really wanted to sing it, (thus his part in the second verse,) but the producer I believe recognized that Paul's voice was a better fit and really pushed it and there we go.
And that producer was ... Elvis Costello
What a great interview! Paul, while not a very technical singer, surely makes up for it with his soulfulness.
How Long has got to be one of my favorite songs of all time. Even though the song is about the band, the way he sings it surely makes you think it’s about an affair. It’s always in my rotation.
What so you mean by not technical? Just curious.
When I saw the headline I was thinking Paul Rodgers. Free, Bad Company, the Firm.
He has a wonderful voice and was the lead singer on so many huge hits. Such great fun to see his history!
Squeeze is one of the most criminally underrated bands and, in my opinion, the best thing to come out of the UK since the Beatles broke up.
Agree with that. The stuff they did during their mid 90s re-union was fantastic as well.
Tempted is one of my favorites
a high ranking member of the 'best unknown' category, if there ever was one. Music aficionados know him well, the masses not so much. A voice that will thankfully live on forever.
If real talent equaled money, he’d be pretty rich. Most people don’t realize he sang all these hits!
Paul Carrack is definitely on my list as well. Steve Perry, Plant, Lou Gramm, etc…
Great comment!
Really impressed that you got this interview. He seems so down to earth and humble for someone so incredibly talented. In his various guises, he's contributed a large part of the soundtrack of my life.
Paul Carrack is an outstanding vocalist who deserves a little more respect from the music industry.
Absolutely ⭐️✊❤️
A LOT more. He is definitely in our POR Music Hall of Fame.
Such a soulful voice, and classy guy!
I LOVE HOW LONG BY ACE! I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT WAS PAUL CARRACK! Wonderful voice! I also love Another Cup Of Coffee by Mike And The Mechanics!!!!
In retrospect "How Long"is a true original. The first modern day Adult Rock song, although the format didn't hit until the 90s.
The Silent Running is one of the mid 80s best songs, and showed what Mike and the Mechanics could have been.
It’s the AC type.
I'm mainly into golden era hip hop (85-95) and heavy metal but Paul Carrack is 1 of my favourite singers of all time. His voice is so soulful
It’s nice to hear how much love the UK is showing Tina Turner, just another humble girl from the countryside of Tennessee, like me.
@@eightiesmusic1984 Well said.
I’m so sorry for your loss. And many celebrities took to social media to pay their dues to the late Tina Turner. So profound.
Paul is certainly one of my all time favorite singers and what a humble, kind hearted soul. Thanks for this interview!

Have you seen our video from a couple years back on Tina? Thanks RBS! Always awesome!
Fingers crossed for a Tina Turner tribute from Adam!
I was singing this song 🎵. Less than 15 minutes ago
That's happened to me a few times on this channel.

Ha ha! so cool.

Fantastic interview Adam, I love that Paul Carrack still performs. Going to his concerts must be a blast. Definitely one of my favorite interviews.
As usual Prof, fantastic interview with one the best voices in music. Not only a great voice but seems like a genuinely great person as well. Thank you Mr. Carrack your music has brought me a lot of joy listening to over the years.
