I also bought the Xiaomi Smart Pen 2 which has been fantastic, it's magnetic and the battery somehow always stays at 100%. Software definitely needs improving but it's not bad.

I have pad 6 256gb for School and sometimes gaming, it's literally the best choice in the price point, I use it with a mechanical keyboard and everything works fine
here in the Philippines, the base 10th gen with 64gb costs around $420 (php to usd conversion.) Bumping it up to 256gb makes it a whopping $580. The Pad 6's base (6+128) is around $265, with the 8+256 being close to $340. I got my girlfriend the pad 6's highest variant for around $289 during a flash sale with lots of vouchers which made it an absolute steal. It would have been great for a 10th gen to be around $300, but for some reason it's hella expensive outside of US especially in Asia regions.

Display and affordability wise Xiaomi is better. Performance and longevity wise iPad's chipset is extremely powerful and has longer software updates support compared to Xiaomi's. Apple Pencil is also better than Xiaomi's Pen. If you don't mind spending more go with the iPad, it will be worth it If you are on a budget, Xiaomi will do you good
How did you solve the dreaded "3 dot problem" that updating to hyperOS causes on the pad 6? Only solution I've found is to turn off system optimisation but that apparently disables floating windows, split screen etc. thanks

I'm putting together a short list of tablets for Black Friday time and until I saw about this issue the pad 6 was looking like a good contender for my needs. Which is basically just something with the best screen and enough grunt to run HiDef content on it without issue. Bought my Dad a Lenovo m10 plus 3rd gen when it was still fairly new and we quickly discovered that when trying to put TH-cam vids past 1080p the tablet couldn't handle it and it stuttered. Has only gotten worse with time as the usual tech slow down is happening.
It's not "poor" performance, it's "decent". You don't need a super fast processor for day to day tasks. Unless you use it to play super heavy game like Genshin, Wuwa etc. You won't notice the difference in power.
probably the ipad. because genshin is a heavy game and you are still not gonna get more than 60fps if you run at the high/medium settings. altho for games that are more competitive/better optimised games go for the xiaomi pad 6. the 144hz display is really good and once you see more than 90fps, you cant go back to 60 as it would look like a sildshow. for productivity and a smooth experience go with the xiaomi. for pure performance go with the ipad. one issue with the ipad is the 60hz limitation, as i know it could easily run at least 120 smoothly.

The performance isn't even that bad, you're comparing an old flagship chipset to a modern flagship chipset ofc it would lack in performance, but the thing is you don't need to have a powerful chipset unless you're a gamer that needs constant 60 fps in games. An average user that only uses the pad for social media, videos etc. won't notice the slower chipset

The pad 6 can run most games at max settings, and because its a tablet it rarely heats up and drops in performance unlike phones with the same chipset. I can play mobile legends at max settings with constant 110-120 fps and heavier games like Genshin Impact it can handle medium graphics with constant 45-60 fps. Note-taking on the pad 6 is flawless aslong as you use the official stylus. A third party stylus also gets the job done, but of course the official one will always be better.

For me, the "3 dots" thing is not A problem since i'm not gonna focus on it when watching the video or playing games because it's gonna be transparant
