I mean Emblem Heroes have a merging effect that boost engaged Heroes stats based how many merges the Engage unit has, so they kinda are doing it already.
After many years, a good percentage of players agree that they should prepare their favorite units and make them very strong, rather than using the most broken ones because they supposedly "make you invincible in the game". At this point, it's better this way, because you can create many broken units, regardless of whether they are grails or 3-4 stars.
Emblem heroes hands down are without question the closest to must summons as you said since the emblem rings help every team comp you can possibly make. I only ever merge if they are a favorite,rearmed ,attuned , I happen to have an extra copy of someone I refuse to fodder a combination of those things. When a hero rises happens I better expect every slot to be occupied by an emblem hero so we don’t all have to deal with the legendary/mythic banners.
Competitively this is great. Casually, this is a nightmare. FE Heroes from 2017 until some year before 2024(can't remember the exact year where this wasn't the core of the game anymore) was summoning your favorite characters and fighting with them. So if you happen to be unlucky(like myself) and IntSys says "NO!" to giving units you like alts, or all their alts do the same thing, then you either have to +10 the most recent version of your favorite unit(and dragonflowers, summoner support, rework their entire kit, etc) or that unit will just get stat-walled. Since some of these newer units are also in story mode, you can't really avoid upgrading your old unit, because the skills are so crazy now that even the A.I. can beat you because of BS. Also, older weapons and rearmed weapons don't come close to competing with what these new weapons effects have(and how STACKED they are). Example: FE7 Rebecca. She has a resplendent now(FINALLY!). Even if you give her all the extra stats, she will still be weaker than a unit of today. All skills she can gain, you would be better off using that character instead of Rebecca. The only other option is to use "Young"(lol) Rebecca but, you have to wait next year or, hope she appears on a banner. Same goes for characters such as Matthew, Jaffar, Lloyd(Yes he has a more recent alt but, Felix literally blows this dude out the water), Lute, many genealogy characters, many Binding blade characters, many FE:SOV characters, FE Tokyo Mirage characters, the list goes on.
I still try my best to use the characters that I love but it’s really hard with units like B!Felix running rampant everywhere. It honestly feels really frustrating and hopeless and I’m not a fan of the way the game has been going. I used to love the fact that I could build my favorite characters (Matthew for example) and he could compete with the top units, but now even the MAX investment with the best possible skills can barely hold up.
This has been my strategy since the beginning of the game. I never summoned to purposely +10 merge any 5* unit because i wanted the variety of units. When i do get multiple copies of the same premium 5* i just used them for fodder for the demotes and grail units so i can have a more competitive team. So im glad that after all these years it works out for me lol.
I only +10 characters that are either in the normal pool or are 4-star special units on seasonal banners. I've only done it seasonally for Summertime L'Arachel and most recently Ice Tribe Flora. Sure I have favorites as 5-stars, but I'm taking a slow and steady approach. Even today I got a lucky free summon for Halloween Rhea, who is now at +4, but I want to +10 her eventually and others.
I think the unspoken law of investing in your favorites is the best way to enjoy feh in the long term. +10ing should be for those characters or at worst arena cores if you're interested in that mode. I was lucky to get wind, water and fire legendaries on the AHR banner so I can focus on simping and getting units that look fun to mess around with
Honestly, the only units worth +10ing anymore are grail units and gen 1 and 2 demotes. Grail units are kinda supposed to be merged up, and gen 1 and 2 demotes will definitely benefit from the stat help. Otherwise, pretty much all modern units have high enough bases where it doesn’t matter, because prfs and skills are just too good now. Anything you lack in visible stats can be made up in spades with in-combat stat stacking.
I actually really love how +10 merges aren't as valuable anymore, seeing as I just started playing last year. Allows you to be competitive without having to think about how bad do you want your bank statement to be that week lol. Honestly +10ing my favorite characters is the only fun I get out of this game, with most of them thankfully being demotes and grail units. But seeing them wreck somebody's +10 Brave Felix or +10 Emblem Ike in Arena is as peak as it gets for me.
I just recently gave resplendent seth premium fodder and am currently merging him up to +10. He's more than enough for PVE maps and I dont care to play aether raids or anything so id rather just give premium fodder to my favourite year 1 and 2 units that I have dozens of.
I don't really want to +10 Brave Felix i actually just have 4 Brave Felix... a team of Brave Felixs with all the current emblem rings on each one. why? idk.
Im definately a feh player who just stopped caring and having hope. Even if we do get Duo Fjorm guess whats coming in December 🙄 Winter Armors. Who pretty much gonna have T4 saves OP fighter skills and some Prf skill/special somewhere. I really wished Feh did Surveys like ther gacha games so they could atleast Hear the playbase
Marnie scores 3 bins below Nah because of trainee BST, HDW, and they screwed Marnie out of a bin by 1 stat point. Its honestly more like 4 bins because Nah has a monopoly on the DC Dragon seal, whereas Marnie will be taking the DC Melee seal from another unit.
I feel this should be more recognised but if you care about the +4 stats (not Arena scoring), know that 5 DFs and Aides Essences are 2.5 merges respectively. So the most modern units, if you use these items that's the equivalent of +5 merges on a unit. +1 merges removes banes, then a you can ascend an asset for +3/4 stats (which is like 1.5 merges), so a +1 unit could practically be +7.5, if they're the current version, more DFs for older versions. Then there are also Summoner Support and Emblem merges that also boost stats.
Telling me not to +10 my favorites isn't gonna stop me!🤪 (Especially when those favorites don't have the best fodder so merging them is the best option anyways.)
Merges should only be done if it's a character you really like or if you're building an older unit. Older units need literally everything if they want to stand any semblance of a chance nowadays. Newer units can get by with no merges, the unmerged Brave Felixs that blew up my beyond invested Corrin bring examples. In fact, earlier this week, I checked my AR defense, and I had a successful defense but no kills. I checked, and the guy was completely running through all my max invested/merged units with, again, an unmerged Brave Alfonse until only my Marni and Nemesis were left. Turns out the guy couldn't get past Marni, was even getting desperate, and just threw everyone at her, but he just couldn't kill her and ran out the clock. If it wasn't for her, then that Brave Alfonse would've won the whole thing on his own.
i currently only +10 f2p units that are either favs or f2p units that bring unique supports. My personal current must pulls are things like attuned/arcane units, emblem units, certain mythics/legendaries that provide good support (ex: Veyle), and just support/psuedo-support units (i.e. units like nergal, merrin, H!Askr, CYL!F!Robin). Last time I genuinely saved alot of orbs was for summer claude lmao

I always 10+ my favorites characters anyways. But recently I haven't had the need to 10+ any unit (minus L!M!Corrin). I just been getting the one copy and moving on
My philosophy: If you think you'll have fun using the unit (or, maybe, its fodder), pull for it. Otherwise skip. Except for SD, you don't need all the latest units to get the top rewards (though it helps to have some) Offensive mythics are a bit weird. They're useless (for me at least) until they're at +10. I love using Eik, but he doesn't score well enough for me to use in AR - and I'm not gonna blow 6 months of saved orbs on him
I tend to merge my units to +1, given the increased stat differential (usually +5) as opposed to additional merges (+2). It's especially useful if you got a bad flaw and/or for units that really want ALL of their stats to be decent, and probably least relevant to slow units (for whom ±3 spd couldn't matter less).
One of two units ive gone out of my way to +10 since launch is Brave Alphonse because his whole shtick is just stats so may as well have as much as possible. Otherwise, I just summon as many of a unit as it takes to get good IVs. They'll generally be as relevant at that point as they are at +10.
With my +8 Felix i took that thumbnail personally haha, i just try to play competitively with what's in my barracks, but im not really spending anymore and not sweating it. There are some whales on my friends list though, wow. Who are these people i wonder.
I've been to the conclusion that my last +10 I would go hard to summon for is Ninja Laegjarn, cause I believe it would be the final time I see them with any alt, or leading alt at least. If there's once I thing I learned from this year, it's just to run with one of each of there Hero's if you can. I've barely meet that standard. Best case as always is getting them +1, optimal Boon if possible, and maybe an extra if their fodder is really rare and unique. Now I just need a Rearmed/Attuned/ETC banner to not be in the middle of my misfortune so I can try and spark someone on them. 🐀
I’m pretty confident in saying that merges have and always be just something to brag about like this game came out the year after I graduated high school my friends and I would spend hours doing it on discord
i considered +10ing brave felix, but realized that hes a sword infantry thatll be powercrept so fast its not worth it. Just used them all up for ATK/SPD Excel fodder for my favs and couldnt be happier. A +1 felix with base kit and celica ring is literally enough to kill most things lol.
The power gain with merges was proportionally much stronger in the earlier days of Feh. You'd only get +4 in all stats but it made a huge difference. Now depending on the unit you can get around +14 for all stats, but it hardly really makes a difference when newer units like Attuned Micky can inflict like -50atk/res with a base kit. imo, the order of priority right now is: [Character you like (but recent ones are just better)] -> [Skills] -> [Upgrade Ressources] -> [Merges]
Plus 10s are only worth for attuned emblems rearmed and 4 star / grail units for fodder factory with attuned/rearmed, emblems for bonus stats of plus 2 to all stats and emblem effects, and grail/4stars because maximizing you favorites is just fun
In my defense the goal is to +10 units that are accessible but if you summon for Remarmed, Attuned, Emblem Ring Units, try to fodder their skills and weapons to give your favorite unit and keep them in the barracks. +10ing is worth most peoples times not +10ing a rare 5 star locked or the latest 5star locked.But regarding the new units at least get 1 or 2 depending on their fodder but the goal is to make the Gen 1-6 units that are free to merge and +10 make them as unique with the right skills and have good dancer support or good support and the unit will be just fine.
I’ve only +10 unit’s by just random 5* pulls or dedicated F2P grail and low rarity units. I’ve not gone on long stretches to save for a +10 premium character. All of my strongest units have been 1 off units that have fantastic IV’s and/or very strong utility regardless. Whether it’s an emblem, rearmed, and duo heroes. In terms of investment, it’s nice to get the next level of great unit generations, but I don’t go for highest premium investment just to keep up with the meta. Even in other gacha games with an evolving player base, there’s always going to be constant meta shifts regardless of power creep. As a result, I (in my own personal opinion) see going after +10 merging the latest and high scoring premium units is a bit too much. It’s better to build characters you like even if you don’t +10 merge.
Definitely do NOT +10. New release power creep can wipe the floor with older +10 units while unmerged. Now if you want to +10 attuned/rearmed units for whale fodder, that at least makes some sense
outside of scoring and legendaries/mythics/emblems, one of the few units that benefits from the +10 right now is B!Alfonse since stat stacking is his entire gimmick
+10'ing units, at least new releases, has been pointless ever since you could support stack to stack massive amounts of stats up and foe debuffs. My gonzales can reach and effective 110 speed, which is more than a felix unless he has the same amount of support (3 units.) So unless you run teams of 4 units with no support, +10'ing has been pointless for a *long* time. Ofc if they're f2p greil projects, you do you, but new releases? Save the orbs. oh and rearmed/attuned heroes are solid to actually try for merges on too, for obvious reasons.
The only unit in my opinion that anyone should +10 is a support duo because they last for 3+ years as a score bot. Unless it's a favorite of course. I pull give or take twice a month and just play with the new units I spark and get on the way. It's more than enough to have fun, stay competitive in most modes.
Also, they like recently to bait us with the double special returns so even duo units now can almost certainly be planned to +10 over the course of atleast 4 banners.
Maybe demotes and grail units... and units with special inheritance, but outside of that I only merge if the unit lacks good fodder and if I just happen to get it
I think I'll take almost needing to spend on every new banner VS needing to max merge a newer unit, I'll give intsys credit for that. It's *probably* negligible to whale on Smn Duels because the max rewards in Master don't eclipse Diamond D by THAT much. This will remain my opinion as long as they continue to give us gopd F2P units. On the other hand...it kinda sucks that this is the norm for summoning now. I can't focus on saving orbs because almost everything new is so relevant that it hurts not to pull. For example, Nergal actually destroys anything - while also having the best support skill in the game. I would have greatly suffered not grabbing him the last end-of-month banner.
I'm personally more into collecting units I like, I have an extra Brave Felix and I'm trying to decide which unit to give his skills to rather than adding a couple stat points to my existing one.
I think mythic loki is very valuable. Removing buffs can ruin a lot of strats in ar and sd, and gravity really helps waste an action of a galeforce team or just prevent them using a certain start lane. Her nuking is ok too, she kills e!ike sometimes. Still not a must pull, and far from the value of a!micaiah as support, but I would pull again if I didn't already have one.
I think the +10 can still be interesting for favorites, and if a emblem happens to be a favorite it atleast gives a small stat boost to other heroes i guess. I do try to go slow for the +10 with sparking in general, and most are fine at base, or +1. I tend to play with favorites, but will go for good heroes sometimes. But there are a lot of heroes i like so often i can do both at the same time
I usually don't go for merges unless they are favorites in which case I try to go for a +1 to get rid of the stat bane. Nifl is an exception. I have already wasted 2 copies of Shield Fighter on a +2 D!Fjorm and I will absolutely waste more copies of shield fighter next time she is on a banner.
Can't decide if this is good for the game in the long run. We save thousands of orbs that we would spend for a single unit. But now we have 2/3 banners per month where they add unique stuff and powercreep the 2 week-old-unit(cof cof L!M!Shez) and makes the player hard to decide and these topics of "Which units are really worth summoning?" arises. Avoid the hype and summon on last minute seens the way to go for now.
I think the biggest reason why merges are not worth going for is that you gain very little for +10ing a unit despite of how expensive it is. +4 to all stat is so underwhelming considering how the average skill can give up to +10 in a stat.
My only premium +10s are l!veronica and n!camilla from AHR a few years back, and Veronica absolutely changed the arena game for me but is starting to fall off so I might try and save for next AHR and hope there's another good colour share. 1200 orbs for 2 +10s and 5 rearmed copies was definitely worth it, but 1200 for 1 +10 definitely not worth it.

This is totally powercreep, now even stat walls are useless, only skills matters, stats are just a cage for the type of skill you can take advantage of just like weapon type.
This is a very subjective topic, some people might spend their orbs +10 their favorites regardless of how much they score or function, other people +10 heroes to have an edge scoring wise in the PvP modes, some people just do like you and do whatever while being mindful of the meta, there's no objective answer when it comes to orb spending, it will depend on how you play the game and what you prioritize. I as a f2p where I get most enjoyment is playing AR and Arena centric modes and reaching the highest tiers there consistently, so naturally, I've buit a handful of premium +10 legendary and mythics, I can't build my favorites because FEH is a lordfest + waifu game so my favorites barely get something if any, I don't care about SD, the meta or skills, I summon for those from time to time but never the priority since those usually age so quicker and it never feels good to invest your orbs in something just to be useless to meh in 2 or 3 months usually, I've turned my account into a beast that's able to score highly in the modes I care, you might say it's a waste of resources and the return of investment is basically nonexistent, but you can say that about almost every aspect in this game in a vacuum, that's why I said this is more of a subjective opinion not an objective truth and by the end of the day this is a "game" and "winning" is all that truly matters at least for me.
there are a few things i dont like about feh still. i dont like how sacred seals and emblem rings can only be equipped to one unit on a team... i dont like summoner support. i think emblem rings were what really made me turn away from feh. what if i have two units who wish to equip the same ring on a team? i also dont like how limited florets and now aided heroes are... btw i dont remember but i think it was lu bu who said a long long time ago that powercreep was getting so crazy theres no point in +10ing a unit when it only adds 4 to every stat, which maybe in the first few gens was significant but is forever shrinking in value because bst keeps being raised, which means +4 has less value now. op units of today will be eclipsed in due time... just as those before.
Honestly skills like Shield fighter, Laguz friend and Excel make up for the extra stats on most units. Who cares about +10 defense when you can get 20 points of flat DR
While it's not as worth +10ing units any more I still think it's definitely worth going for at least a +1 merge, at least if you're an arena player and it will bump them a BST bracket by erasing their bane. If you don't care for arena though then it's definitely not as worth it
I mean idk if it's a hot take to say that this has always been true. I don't think there has been a time in this game when getting a +10 was better than getting 11 strong units unless they're a special unit like a mythic or legendary.
I personally have never cared about being competitive in this game. I play it because i like FE characters so i just collect them and merge up my favorites. I feel that the hyper competitive players are the ones who dislike the game the most. If i do good one week in Arena or AR then thats great, however i really only do them for the rewards and thats it

I always 10+ my favorites characters anyways. But recently I haven't had the need to 10+ any unit (minus L!M!Corrin). I just been getting the one copy and moving on
And I just finished +10ing Halloween Nah an hour ago…😂
Favourites are the exception to this rule.
My philosophy: If you think you'll have fun using the unit (or, maybe, its fodder), pull for it. Otherwise skip. Except for SD, you don't need all the latest units to get the top rewards (though it helps to have some)
Offensive mythics are a bit weird. They're useless (for me at least) until they're at +10. I love using Eik, but he doesn't score well enough for me to use in AR - and I'm not gonna blow 6 months of saved orbs on him
I pretty much only focus on attuned and emblem heros
I play COMPLETELY unmerged account and going strong in VoH.
I tend to merge my units to +1, given the increased stat differential (usually +5) as opposed to additional merges (+2). It's especially useful if you got a bad flaw and/or for units that really want ALL of their stats to be decent, and probably least relevant to slow units (for whom ±3 spd couldn't matter less).
One of two units ive gone out of my way to +10 since launch is Brave Alphonse because his whole shtick is just stats so may as well have as much as possible. Otherwise, I just summon as many of a unit as it takes to get good IVs. They'll generally be as relevant at that point as they are at +10.
With my +8 Felix i took that thumbnail personally haha, i just try to play competitively with what's in my barracks, but im not really spending anymore and not sweating it. There are some whales on my friends list though, wow. Who are these people i wonder.
I've been to the conclusion that my last +10 I would go hard to summon for is Ninja Laegjarn, cause I believe it would be the final time I see them with any alt, or leading alt at least.
If there's once I thing I learned from this year, it's just to run with one of each of there Hero's if you can. I've barely meet that standard. Best case as always is getting them +1, optimal Boon if possible, and maybe an extra if their fodder is really rare and unique. Now I just need a Rearmed/Attuned/ETC banner to not be in the middle of my misfortune so I can try and spark someone on them. 🐀
Some day merges will be valuable again and my +10 Brave Tiki will destroy you all...

I’m pretty confident in saying that merges have and always be just something to brag about like this game came out the year after I graduated high school my friends and I would spend hours doing it on discord
i considered +10ing brave felix, but realized that hes a sword infantry thatll be powercrept so fast its not worth it. Just used them all up for ATK/SPD Excel fodder for my favs and couldnt be happier. A +1 felix with base kit and celica ring is literally enough to kill most things lol.

The power gain with merges was proportionally much stronger in the earlier days of Feh. You'd only get +4 in all stats but it made a huge difference.
Now depending on the unit you can get around +14 for all stats, but it hardly really makes a difference when newer units like Attuned Micky can inflict like -50atk/res with a base kit.
imo, the order of priority right now is:
[Character you like (but recent ones are just better)] -> [Skills] -> [Upgrade Ressources] -> [Merges]
Plus 10s are only worth for attuned emblems rearmed and 4 star / grail units for fodder factory with attuned/rearmed, emblems for bonus stats of plus 2 to all stats and emblem effects, and grail/4stars because maximizing you favorites is just fun
In my defense the goal is to +10 units that are accessible but if you summon for Remarmed, Attuned, Emblem Ring Units, try to fodder their skills and weapons to give your favorite unit and keep them in the barracks. +10ing is worth most peoples times not +10ing a rare 5 star locked or the latest 5star locked.But regarding the new units at least get 1 or 2 depending on their fodder but the goal is to make the Gen 1-6 units that are free to merge and +10 make them as unique with the right skills and have good dancer support or good support and the unit will be just fine.
I’ve only +10 unit’s by just random 5* pulls or dedicated F2P grail and low rarity units. I’ve not gone on long stretches to save for a +10 premium character.
All of my strongest units have been 1 off units that have fantastic IV’s and/or very strong utility regardless. Whether it’s an emblem, rearmed, and duo heroes.
In terms of investment, it’s nice to get the next level of great unit generations, but I don’t go for highest premium investment just to keep up with the meta. Even in other gacha games with an evolving player base, there’s always going to be constant meta shifts regardless of power creep.
As a result, I (in my own personal opinion) see going after +10 merging the latest and high scoring premium units is a bit too much. It’s better to build characters you like even if you don’t +10 merge.

Definitely do NOT +10. New release power creep can wipe the floor with older +10 units while unmerged. Now if you want to +10 attuned/rearmed units for whale fodder, that at least makes some sense

I honestly stopped playing for meta cuz I would actually kms over my absolute dogwater luck
outside of scoring and legendaries/mythics/emblems, one of the few units that benefits from the +10 right now is B!Alfonse since stat stacking is his entire gimmick

I have a +10 Alfred but I didn't know about utilizing his skill inheritance, so it somewhat has a point and I just missed that entirely.
+10'ing units, at least new releases, has been pointless ever since you could support stack to stack massive amounts of stats up and foe debuffs. My gonzales can reach and effective 110 speed, which is more than a felix unless he has the same amount of support (3 units.) So unless you run teams of 4 units with no support, +10'ing has been pointless for a *long* time. Ofc if they're f2p greil projects, you do you, but new releases? Save the orbs. oh and rearmed/attuned heroes are solid to actually try for merges on too, for obvious reasons.
The only mode you have to plus 10 is in arena due to scoring aside from that unless it’s a favorite they are staying as +0 or +1.

The only unit in my opinion that anyone should +10 is a support duo because they last for 3+ years as a score bot. Unless it's a favorite of course. I pull give or take twice a month and just play with the new units I spark and get on the way. It's more than enough to have fun, stay competitive in most modes.
Also, they like recently to bait us with the double special returns so even duo units now can almost certainly be planned to +10 over the course of atleast 4 banners.
In my opinion, I'm mostly poor for units .That would be handy for me.That will give me a great advantage rather than trying to plus ten a 5🌟 unit.

Maybe demotes and grail units... and units with special inheritance, but outside of that I only merge if the unit lacks good fodder and if I just happen to get it
I think I'll take almost needing to spend on every new banner VS needing to max merge a newer unit, I'll give intsys credit for that. It's *probably* negligible to whale on Smn Duels because the max rewards in Master don't eclipse Diamond D by THAT much.
This will remain my opinion as long as they continue to give us gopd F2P units. On the other hand...it kinda sucks that this is the norm for summoning now. I can't focus on saving orbs because almost everything new is so relevant that it hurts not to pull.
For example, Nergal actually destroys anything - while also having the best support skill in the game. I would have greatly suffered not grabbing him the last end-of-month banner.
I'm personally more into collecting units I like, I have an extra Brave Felix and I'm trying to decide which unit to give his skills to rather than adding a couple stat points to my existing one.
I think mythic loki is very valuable. Removing buffs can ruin a lot of strats in ar and sd, and gravity really helps waste an action of a galeforce team or just prevent them using a certain start lane. Her nuking is ok too, she kills e!ike sometimes.
Still not a must pull, and far from the value of a!micaiah as support, but I would pull again if I didn't already have one.
I think the +10 can still be interesting for favorites, and if a emblem happens to be a favorite it atleast gives a small stat boost to other heroes i guess.
I do try to go slow for the +10 with sparking in general, and most are fine at base, or +1. I tend to play with favorites, but will go for good heroes sometimes. But there are a lot of heroes i like so often i can do both at the same time
Imo the must pulls are all the characters that I personally like.
I usually don't go for merges unless they are favorites in which case I try to go for a +1 to get rid of the stat bane.
Nifl is an exception. I have already wasted 2 copies of Shield Fighter on a +2 D!Fjorm and I will absolutely waste more copies of shield fighter next time she is on a banner.
Can't decide if this is good for the game in the long run.
We save thousands of orbs that we would spend for a single unit.
But now we have 2/3 banners per month where they add unique stuff and powercreep the 2 week-old-unit(cof cof L!M!Shez) and makes the player hard to decide and these topics of "Which units are really worth summoning?" arises.
Avoid the hype and summon on last minute seens the way to go for now.
I think the biggest reason why merges are not worth going for is that you gain very little for +10ing a unit despite of how expensive it is. +4 to all stat is so underwhelming considering how the average skill can give up to +10 in a stat.
My only premium +10s are l!veronica and n!camilla from AHR a few years back, and Veronica absolutely changed the arena game for me but is starting to fall off so I might try and save for next AHR and hope there's another good colour share.
1200 orbs for 2 +10s and 5 rearmed copies was definitely worth it, but 1200 for 1 +10 definitely not worth it.

i accidentally +10 sigurd cuz i was trying to get emblem celica but sigurd kept coming home until i got him +10 n then he let emblem celica come home once 🙃
I +10 only old units, since brand new ones are expensive and got trouble with newer ones in few months.
This is totally powercreep, now even stat walls are useless, only skills matters, stats are just a cage for the type of skill you can take advantage of just like weapon type.
This is a very subjective topic, some people might spend their orbs +10 their favorites regardless of how much they score or function, other people +10 heroes to have an edge scoring wise in the PvP modes, some people just do like you and do whatever while being mindful of the meta, there's no objective answer when it comes to orb spending, it will depend on how you play the game and what you prioritize.
I as a f2p where I get most enjoyment is playing AR and Arena centric modes and reaching the highest tiers there consistently, so naturally, I've buit a handful of premium +10 legendary and mythics, I can't build my favorites because FEH is a lordfest + waifu game so my favorites barely get something if any, I don't care about SD, the meta or skills, I summon for those from time to time but never the priority since those usually age so quicker and it never feels good to invest your orbs in something just to be useless to meh in 2 or 3 months usually, I've turned my account into a beast that's able to score highly in the modes I care, you might say it's a waste of resources and the return of investment is basically nonexistent, but you can say that about almost every aspect in this game in a vacuum, that's why I said this is more of a subjective opinion not an objective truth and by the end of the day this is a "game" and "winning" is all that truly matters at least for me.

there are a few things i dont like about feh still. i dont like how sacred seals and emblem rings can only be equipped to one unit on a team... i dont like summoner support. i think emblem rings were what really made me turn away from feh. what if i have two units who wish to equip the same ring on a team? i also dont like how limited florets and now aided heroes are...
btw i dont remember but i think it was lu bu who said a long long time ago that powercreep was getting so crazy theres no point in +10ing a unit when it only adds 4 to every stat, which maybe in the first few gens was significant but is forever shrinking in value because bst keeps being raised, which means +4 has less value now.
op units of today will be eclipsed in due time... just as those before.
Honestly skills like Shield fighter, Laguz friend and Excel make up for the extra stats on most units. Who cares about +10 defense when you can get 20 points of flat DR

While it's not as worth +10ing units any more I still think it's definitely worth going for at least a +1 merge, at least if you're an arena player and it will bump them a BST bracket by erasing their bane. If you don't care for arena though then it's definitely not as worth it
I mean idk if it's a hot take to say that this has always been true. I don't think there has been a time in this game when getting a +10 was better than getting 11 strong units unless they're a special unit like a mythic or legendary.

I personally have never cared about being competitive in this game. I play it because i like FE characters so i just collect them and merge up my favorites. I feel that the hyper competitive players are the ones who dislike the game the most. If i do good one week in Arena or AR then thats great, however i really only do them for the rewards and thats it
My only+10 is Corrin because I have so many copies of her 😅

eh? Well UNLESS you are called Emblem Ike. I mean a +10 Emblem Ike with support etc it's ridiculous unstopable and also the Emblem Heroes give extra stats to those you engage them.
who cares about +10s? I just have 4 brave felixs and they just destory everything. and if that doesn't work i just get my emblem ike (i built him and kinda just wins...)
