As a Golf R owner, I fully understand your take on lack of drama, you would need so much more power than this to get all 4 wheels spinning and get a similar "sketchy" experience. You have definitely built a dramatic and fun GTI, that is for sure. Well done..
Not for me currently my R spins like a bitch as I'm sure there is a haldex problem. As if I launch it it just spins until I let off and I've got ps4s tyres on.
Mk7 platform in general is a big no for me. Had a Mk7 R and 7.5 gti, very little feedback and 80mph feels like 30, just feel disconnected from the road. They're very good cars and capable, but for me I went back to an edition 30 and haven't regretted it one bit.
Hamza you are single handedly the reason why I’m keeping the GTi to build something mental and not go the R route or even get the B9 S4 I fancied. This build was brilliant love the content man
With that power, Golf R = effortless; but in a GTI = Drama + Fun. Hence I opt for a Gti myself instead of the R. I’m currently in a stg 3 is38+ set-up, But now I’ve been bullied by my friends’ PFL RS3 stg 2 & a Golf R revo stg 3. But I believe, Hamza’s set-up is for 100-200 draggy times. Just crazy these engines can nicely handle double the power from factory. Lovely build brother👌Inspired by your high mileage 350 gti series a few years ago, have a similar vag build myself now 🙌
This build has turned out so well. That is absolutely savage in second gear. It's making me smile and I'm not even behind the wheel 😂😂😂 I'm not a huge fan of excessive overrun either, too much and it's just like bonfire night 😁
It’s part of the fun, just remember it’s better for rolls. You may find yourself in a Quattro though. Just sucks if it loses you a race but you know what RWD have traction issues too. I regret getting rid of my gti even though I upgraded
Mate, bloody love that beast and your approach. I have a similar one in metallic blue with dsg tune (I know, I miss my manual from my previous vehicle Polo GTI 5spd manual) Stage 1+DSG done. Went from 143 to 203kw, next tyres and brakes. For the money this is ridiculous smiles per dollar
I have to say hamza , you build some gnarly vw’s. It’s ridiculous what you can extract out of those cars. I can’t imagine if you had good weather and traction west those cars can do. Keep it up bro. Love theses videos
Well said everyone has done a golf r and people underestimate a gti, same as clubsport power gains of 550 bhp approximate, problems with golf R is haldex system 4 wheel drive remember Arthur's 600 bhp, if you want to chase power Rs3 same weight or there's about 2.5 engine and a big pocket of money.. Great video and journey to explain the difference and what can be achieved 🙏
How you bud. Car is awesome. I know you a ps4s fan but I highly recommend you try out some falken RT615k+ tires. They’re awesome look great and are both good in rain and dry. Awesome sidewall too completely changed the feel of the car. Very underrated and not spoken about. I know drift boys love them, have driven on both the ps4s and if performance is the ultimate goal I can tell you the falken just feels awesome. Really appreciate the content keep it up. @@Henry-nt5zg in dry conditions almost none unless you completely plant your foot from a standing start then I get some from 1st to second but it hooks pretty quickly. @@jamie7tcr777 Nice one that sounds pretty manageable. I've got a stock MK7 GTI PP and I'm considering going stage 1 which would be up from 230 to low 300's but I'm worried the wheelspin would make me go through tyres too quick and should have got an R instead. Lots of spin there buddy 🤣 loving the car though, I have the polo GTI 16 plate with 250bhp and 400nm and that just spins like mad in the wet so I know what it’s like 😂 great video dude.
Wish you took the R32 to 500bhp instead. Lots of fun the MK7 GTI platform and a million times better than the dull MK7 R but would have been awesome to hear the VR6 scream with 500+ ponies
I bought couple of years back a MK6 GTI MTM 310 DSG (total of EUR 8,200 only the MTM changes, paid by the first owner of course 😅) plus upgraded breaks (4 perforated disks with bigger pistons Brembo) and I am super happy, perfect amount of power for a front wheel drive (top speed 272 km/h). I could find back then other's GTI with 400cv or more but I am still thinking they become undriveable and most that extra power is lost, "efficiency VS drama", but I understand some people may like this last one. Why GTI and not R? well in the Netherlands you pay monthly taxes per kilogram so the extra weight and comsuption made me deciced for the GTI.
Yes man Like Hamza back with another episode of the MK7 Golf GTI Man this car is an absolute Animal bro should definitely do some Reaction videos has to come with this car I'd be down for that man love these MK7 Golf GTI's & Golf R's 🙏 that shots are amazing I love It ❤ 492ps coverts to 485bhp if I'm correct 🙌 absolute Animal thi Great Video as always pops n bangs are mental 👌
Fwd is more lively and way more fun who doesn’t like 400whp that struggles to get traction on the street or backroads. I feel like awd is too tame but for the track I track is number one. I’d still choose my gti
What car would you choose between a Mk5 golf R32 and a GTi Edition 30? .As I'm thinking of getting my first golf since the 90s and can't decide between the 2 . Do you have a buying guide for them?
Cars looking sick and has so much drama which end of the day is one of the things that make them so fun. Would be interested to hear how the lsd is coping with so much power in bends. Does it pull you into a corner still or does not do that anymore with so much extra power?
HP and fuel consumption is linked right...more power means more fuel use, assuming about a 12:1 air/fuel ratio at WOT, hence why your car uses more fuel. Only in lean modes light throttle will it use what it used to.

The more I see this car the more I'm beginning to appreciate the mk7 gti in 3dr spec.
I never was a 3 dr person. But when it came to buying a MK7 project car, it had to be a 3dr manual, a combo we can’t get in the MK8 anymore.
