I danced away the weekends to great tunes like this one in the early seventies while in college. What a great time to be a teenager.

Man we grew up in THE BEST time ever. Especially for rock music!! This was one of THE best rock songs ever with one of THE GREATEST guitar riffs of all time. It’s right up there with the best of them.

I was born in 1949 and Steely Dan was a great band, I had the privilege of listening to the Beatles, and the Stones.
In the fifties we had Bill Hailey and the Comets as well as Buddy Holly and the crickets. The music today just doesn’t do anything for me

Riding in the back of mom and dads Nova, no seat belts cause they were under the back seat, and hand cranking down the windows for the Free A/C. Pushing the big black buttons for our favorite music channel, and gassing up for .75 cents a gallon...and hearing this wonderful song...

@@harryberry474 the human spirit is just that, a spirit. This is not the first time the spirit of consciousness has lighted the way toward self awareness, nor will there ever be a last. Glad you said this, cause I was just about to.
I know that In the earliest days of televised rock, a lot of your life tv producers were a product of the Old School like Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, Smothers Brothers...(What are they talking about, Grandpa???) and it was all pre programmed, rehearsed, and shot from the waist up, camera in a tight shot on the lead singers face. Multi Instrumental groups like Steely Dan, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, The Eagles they didn't know how to shoot them because the focus was more on the music. Ask much as I liked the Midnight special, it's why I always thought Don Kirshner's Rock Concert was a better show. Their camera crew how to shoot a rock band for a new younger demographic of TV audience.

I'm pretty sure they are playing to the original recording - not live. Neither of the guitar players played higher up on the neck on the first solo.

Can't see most of his solos, shame they were missed. Did you know he was a National Defense Consultant and is still advising the government on advanced terrorism tactics?

Being a child of late 60 and 70's music, I have to say, some of the best quality bands ever. I know I am sounding like my dad right now but come on..... What was funny growing up then was you had the dichotomy of rock bands vs. disco. The gang I hung with couldn't stand disco.
