For the youngsters out there, TV did not look like this in 1973. I watched every time there was an pro telecast and recall no widespread technical difficulties or poor picture quality.
This is only the last few minutes of the game when the game...and the series...was pretty much wrapped up. My guess is Gilmore may very well have fouled out and/or Coach Joe Mullaney had taken out some starters as the last minutes were winding down. Both Gilmore and Dampier played a lot of minutes in this series.
Larry Miller holds the record for most points scored in a game (I think for the entire ABA)- but that happened in the ABA's early years when the competition was more glorified rec league. Best Cougar? Hardly. Larry Miller was not better than Billy Cunningham, Mack Calvin, Steve Jones and probably a few others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head. But Larry was a great spot-up shooter for his time.

Why did the Colonels wear their dark uni’s at home?
They didn't. The game was at Charlotte, North Carolina. The Cougars actually had the best record in the ABA East (and thus homecourt edge for Game 7).
