("Thank you" in Hawai’ian) I’ve watched a dozen different Sherlock Holmes' reincarnations but I like Jonny Lee Miller’s Holmes even better than Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr. I started reading the novels/short stories when I was little. The Speckled Band and Hound of the Baskervilles. Sherlock was NEVER into fashion, and yes he did cocaine. Benedict always makes sure that his collar is turned up to show off his magnificent cheekbones. (John and Irene Adler both point this out to him...and he smiles.) Benedict’s shoes are handmade and always shine as if he just spit-polished them. He KNOWS he looks good right down to wearing the deerstalker hat at just the right jaunty angle. Jonny has worn the same old brown/black saddle shoes since the first season. Jonny Lee Miller looks as if he sleeps in his clothes with that raggedy old neck scarf. That’s probably why he looked so astonishingly superb in a tuxedo in Season 3, episode 4 “Tag, you’re me.” He was so...different. When Cumberbatch wears a morning coat as John’s best man he looks as if he wears one all the time...Cumberbatch and Miller are both VERY physical with all the running--actually like a parkour course through NY or London--knowing that Jonny runs ultra-marathons of 50+ miles and Benedict casually springing one handed over the dais at the wedding. Both come from a long line of actors...in fact as most fans know Jonny’s middle name “Lee” is from his grandfather Bernard Lee who was “M” in the early James Bond films. British actors are simply so much more talented than American actors. Miller and Cumberbatch were doing Shakespeare at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) growing up while Americans were doing keg-stands at state universities.
