Because survival-horror games are a niche market that appeals more towards hard-core gamers, not the casuals who eat up the newest Call of Duty or Madden. I'm pretty sure that Dead Space's sales were pretty good by the standards of its genre, but once again EA made a stupid and out-of-touch decision, in the name of greed, like they always do.

This. DS2 is mostly perfect so a touchup like they did with the DS Remake would be great. I never played DS3 so if they nailed a DS2 Remake I'd 100% be on board for a DS3 complete Redo with a proper story / ending for Isaac.

So thrusting that kind of task & pressure on Motive, who's still a fairly recent new studio under EA, while making a big Iron Man game will cause an issue. The Iron Man game was announced ages ago so if they're to focus on 1 single player game at a time, should be respected. Especially Motive proved themselves after Dead Space remake.
Problem is that EA sees dead space as a resident evil competitor and thus expects the same level of sucess, I think thats why they deem it as comercial failures
Being a developer under EA must be akin to a spouse in an abusive marriage. Nothing seems to please them, even if it's done to the letter it's never good enough.
This reminds me of when Dead Space 3 came out and they killed its sequel. I had to wait 10 years for another Dead Space title. Everyone, play these games you will love them.
What the hell EA i wanted that dead space 2 remake because that game would've been really awesome and tons of fun and it drives me crazy that EA ruins everything again and we are not getting that remake ever again which is just not fair but that's just my opinion.

Dissapointed there isn't a Dead Space 2 remake in the works, but I am really stoked to play System Shock remake next month. I'm gonna pre-order a copy on my next payday, and I'll be busy with that until the Elden Ring DLC drops.
Better than Res Evil 4 imo. Definitely want the sequels, the second is a no brainer, that remake would sell just as good if not better. And they could really take some artistic license with the 3rd and turn it into something amazing. I’d pay full price for either.
I have no reason to suspect that the game would’ve deviated so far from the original DS2 but I do suspect like with the original some slight changes would be made to make flesh out the lore including the older branching lore just like with 1
You know the sad thing was I never knew there was a dead space remake til it was free on my Playstation I think this may be a marketing failure more than anything
Dead Space was inspired by the success of the RE-Remakes, Silent Hill was inspired by the RE Remakes. But do they really know why these games were so successful? These games aren't just a new brush of paint, they are on one hand very different compared from the original games, improving on so many aspects and yet they follow the original eerily close but giving you the feeling that you play a whole different experience. The Dead Space Remake was rock solid, but it was more or less the very same experience compared to the original (Isaac talks now, I prefer the silence in the original but overall, characters were written better in the Remake). I guess this and the fact that the Remake costs 70 Dollars in the US and 80 Euros in Europe The Remake was released just shortly before the Resident Evil 4 Remake was released for less money. I would have liked the concept creating different sequels after the Remake, but the Dead Space IP isn't that strong to go such routes unfortunately. I still think the same fate might happen to the Silent Hill 2 Remake. The price point will be a factor. The Last of Us Part I was also not the success Sony hoped for and this was also a 70/80 Bucks title, of course with even way less new stuff compared to the Dead Space Remake. What I want to say is, there is a reason Capcom is so successsful with the Resident Evil Remakes. They know the balance between adding in new stuff which which differs heavily from the original but also do the right stuff staying true to the original.
Ds remake was same as og But with shittier characters , gameplay sjw and storytelling Only two things they improved was graphics Wich are not necessary needed to be good and one character girl that og betrayed Issac Wich she isn't excuse for remake
Dead Space was popular amongst the fans of the original. So most of us who played it definitely played the remake. It sucks that it didn't get enough sales. But if not a Dead Space 2 remake..then why not explore Dead Space 4? Since it's new, it could bring in a new audience.
For the love of the art, some games should not be considered a loss just for pushing technology or elements forward. The Dead Space remaster is fantastic. I adore it. Its one of my favorite series of all time - yet I still haven't played it. I surely will one day, but money shouldnt be the only thing that speaks. It is important to remember that videogames are still an art form. If something needs to serve as a glorified tech demo to show off some new systems or a studio's capability, then so be it. These publishers can handle that 'loss' for the sake of status. All would benefit from that mindset.
Technically dead space remake Was a success. It sold about 3 million copies it deserves. Praise from EA.. We need a remake for dead space.2 hell the whole franchise needs to be remaked. And they need to make a dead space 4 would love to see this universe expand.
This series is cursed, I blame EA but also gamers. A high quality story driven game, that no one plays because they're playing "whale" catching games. Playing cod or something...
Sometimes, you gotta hate the player not the game. Its like scalping or only-fans subs. Where there is a demand, there is profit and money makes the world go round.
I wasnt expecting a Dead Space 2 remake, it would of been cool but not necessary. Because the remake sort of captured alot of its spirit already with the movement. I do still think we should get a Dead Space 4. Because its after 2 and 3 they could add all those elements in part 4 plus new additions ect.
What a shame (about shelving another Dead Space follow-up to the Dead Space 2023 remake). I don't give a shit about other EA IPs like Iron Man and Battlefield 2042 - but I was a VERY enthusiastic customer of the Dead Space remake (2023)
So EA and their devs are willing to make more remakes and what-if games (5:59) which makes no sense but not a Dead Space 4 or even a spin off game ? or am I missing something ?
I remember friends of mine, including ones who play RE remakes, saying they had no interest in Dead Space remake. They said it just didn't look good, and I honestly have no idea to this day what they were seeing that looked bad. So it could have been some kind of bad word of mouth that was unjustified, which sadly happens. Also let's not forget that it was on the coattails of Callisto Protocol, and that whole situation probably soured EA and Dead Space to people at the time.
The Callisto Protocol is actually better. And you'd be surprised to know it sold 3 times more than Dead Space Remake. Even tho people made it out to be the worse of the two. The horror game community can't just be happy and appreciate both games, they had to put an unreasonable and biased competition between the two
@@RirimoYT not really, especially when the game kept on being described by the devs as a "spiriticual successor to Dead Space" And absoutely failed at that while also failing to be something unique from other horror & Lovecraftian horror games Also there wasn't even bad word off mouth, there's been universal praise for Dead Space remake. If a remake is able to maintain what made the OG while adding more to the story & depth, then the remake actually is better. Dead space remake was groovy. Maybe it didnt sell much because not enough people have next gen consoles or pc's. God damn shame. Re2-3 remake sold a bunch because they were the older gen..not enough people have enough money to drop money on a new console right now with the world going to shit. Sucks
The problem I have with remakes and sequels, is intentional removal(forgotten) of the original classic games. Old classic orginal games are being intentionally forgotten, removed, and unplayable(stuck on old systems). Where is our Dead Space port to current consoles/systems...? Probably never going to happen because garbage remakes and sequels of orginal games are being made for new generation of always online live-service singleplayer-microtransaction gamers, that never played a singleplayer offline old classic game(with no microtransactions) in their life. Let alone, ever heard of a VCR before?
All because the dead space remake did not sell 178 quadrillion copies worldwide. We are not going to ever get a dead space remake or even a new game thanks to EA. What was the point of even making a new dead space game? Also because dead space is not a live service game filled with loot boxes that is another reason why the fans will not be made whole again.

Even the OG dead space didn’t sell that well. No one agrees with u
Just my opinion: overall, the market didn't need a "Dead Space" remake. We loved the first one, it still holds up, and the remake includes some (unnecessary) changes. To me, it doesn't hit as hard or as drastically as the recent RE remakes. As a result, it probably sold a couple million, but EA was expecting probably 6 or 7 million.
The game was next gen exclusive in a niche genre and niche franchise with a $70 price tag and it still sold millions. There is clearly a market for dead space and yet EA wanted this game to instantly make resident evil money. This franchise has the potential for that but you’re not gonna make resident evil money overnight (or in this case one game) but they were on the right track after good word of mouth spread causing the game to sell millions. Dead space remake was a great foundation, all they needed to do was capitalize on it but no, we can’t have nice things when EA is in charge
EA were probably expecting RE numbers in terms of sales. What were they expecting? Thry closed down visceral studios and buried the franchise for 11 years. People werent gonna be lining up for the sequel after what they did
I think the fact that motive are putting their resources on the next Battlefield game is proof that Dead Space 2 wont happen. Its a joke because the secret ending of DS1 remake implied they were remaking the 2nd one.

I've found turning down resolution helps. But see, I shouldn't have to turn my resolution down to play a game lmao. They're never gonna fix the stuttering are they?
Literally playing through it again and I can attest. It's definitely clunkier than the Remake but it's still *so* deserving of a remake while still being fun in its own right.
Lackluster sales, who didn't buy Dead Space? I pre-ordered my copy and got it day 1, and I wasn't the only one at my GameStop there to pick it up either.

It’s hey put this GOAT survival title against the biggest nostalgia bait game of the decade and expected more than the great amount of copies they’ve sold….. shit is backwards as fuck especially when you check in on how gamepass eventually effected it and you see the amount of reviews/ downloads
Riddled with madness after being re-traumatized and plagued with the ghost of his beloved, Isaac remembered what the doctor had told him all those years ago… _”We’re all gonna burn for what we did to you.”_ He looked towards Nicole, standing in the corner of his room. She nodded her head in agreement. With that, Isaac went to the store kiosk in his room and grabbed his flamethrower, some fuel, and his foam finger with infinite ammo. He walked out of his room, the empty office teaming with kindle. Iden exited the bathroom, and looked at Isaac with confusion. “Isaac, what are you doing?”, she asked. He raised his flamethrower, and with one pull of the trigger, burning her alive. He then set the rest of the building on fire, burning everything Motive was working on. Once he escaped the building and it was completely on fire, he watched for a second until Nicole came to him again. “We should leave. They’ll be coming soon.” With that, Isaac removed his helmet and escaped into the Canadian wilderness, never to return to civilization. Occasionally, people would say they saw him dragging a deer carcass or humming tunelessly by a fire, but the Isaac they knew was gone. All that was left was the monster EA made.
EA Will be dumb to make another one. Fans & Gaming-Media Outlets has been asking the Remake for years. But now after they hit home run with it , Not a single mention in GOTY Contenders. I Believe That's The main reason why Capcom Won't remake DINO-CRISIS Nor ONIMUSHA. You Cannot be Ungrateful and then Keep asking for more.
I really like the dead space remake, i didn't play the original version of the game, but i still had fun. I haven't played dead space 2 yet, i've played the third game, it's actually what got me into the franchise.
I was thinking about having the best parts of ds2 fused with the good story bits of 3, and make a recap or a step up to an ok new 3D act, so they can finally make a brand new sequel.
I can't believe that this game has bad sales. Only in Steam is around 40 000 reviews. This is a really strange situation. I want to see the second part remake. The first is amazing.
It was on sale with in a few months. Which is a sign of poor sales. There are just way to many games for every one to play. So even good ones get ignored.
To be fair Dead Space 2 holds up pretty well as it is. If they remade it it would probably be a completely new game with way more exploration than the original. That would be way too much work compared to Dead Space 1: Remake. My dream remake is actually Dead Space: Extraction for VR, but that will never happen unfortunately.
Personally I don’t think Dead Space 2 needs a remake. Go back and play it. It still holds up extremely well and is easily the best game of the franchise. Only thing that would be improved would be the graphics but honestly it still looks great. DS1 was improved overall with the remake even though the original game is still a fantastic experience. The franchise needs a proper sequel that being Dead Space 4 or some kind of reboot. But EA has no interest in working hard enough to figure out what that next entry might be. So until there’s “enough” demand they’ll let Dead Space sit on ice for another decade before they continue anything.
The issue comes with the bad will that ea has. If they made say 8 more games with similar quality and fanfare they would sell more of all of those games. I and others enjoyed from softwares games so much that people that bought one bought more or all their game releases for example look at how well armored core 6 sold because of dark souls
Dead space remake was my first dead space game, I absolutely loved it. Like I loved it a lot. I was really, & I mean really, looking forward to the next dead space remake game. Such a bummer
The problem is nobody wants a remake we want a new game I'm not buying a game I already beat back in 2008. I don't care how many new scenes you add I can watch it on TH-cam. Dead space is a game that had graphics that aged really well. So slightly better graphics and some quality of life changes won't make me want to play the exact same thing again for a premium price.
As a huge fan of the first two games, I regard them as some of the best of all time. I wasn’t excited for the remake at all, that’s why I never bought it. The way I seen it was I had already spent my money and plenty of hours completing both games 100%, multiple times. I did see some reviews and see it offered something different and was a must for fans of the series so it was on my list for the future ( I’m an adult with responsibilities so I have a large list of games I want to play ). It’s recently been added to ps plus as a free monthly game. So I’ve give it a go and wow I’m blown away. The studio have smashed it out the park. I thought it was just going to be a cheap cash grab but how wrong I was. Got me thinking a dead space 2 remake would be even better. But sadly doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Gutted.
Stop expecting horror games to sell incredibly well. Most people aren’t capable of playing through a horror game so they won’t spend $70 on one. Resident Evil is a bit of an anomaly with its popularity. I like Dead Space more than RE, but it’s not a juggernaut at the same level as RE.
This doesn't make any sense. To cancel a almost garenteed successful remake to focus on shit that they have fucked up time and time again. Have they not seen the shit video games that have been getting green lit and launched and yet they want to go ahead and stop working on a game we already love
Dead Space is the most Survival-Horror we have had in years. The game is definitely in the Survival-Horror genre unlike Resident Evil which always was with one leg in the action genre. To be honest, there is no true "Survival-Horror". This genre is just straight up connected to action because of its gunplay. With that being clarified I can tell you now what the problem with games as Silent Hill and Dead Space is. The problem is, these games aren't mainstream enough. Resident Evil is by no means harmless. But Resident Evil is, just like The Last of Us or Days Gone, are more beginner friendly than more exotic and definitely intense titles as Dead Space or Silent Hill. These games are too specific into their genre. Dead Space was especially criticized for being too intense back in its 2008 release. Resident Evil even made hellofa money in their worst times. The Last of Us isn't even considered to be a Survival-Horror because it's less focused on the horror aspect. So the only way to make Dead Space commercially successful is to make it mainstream friendly.
The Dead Space remake didn’t look as good as I remember the original looking even though I know the remake supposedly looks better. Dead Space was the 1st game I played in HD on the PS3 so it was like wow even though it was only 1080p and than I played the whole trilogy in 4k multiple times when I got a GTX 1080. I don’t want a remake. I want Dead Space 4
I never played the original, but did enjoy the hell out of this one. Played it 3 times within the year. Was looking forward to the second game and i definitely would've bought it.
I was loving the dead space remake until I came across a bug on chapter 8 in which all the items where falling through the floor and the enemies started to turn invisible. It ruined the whole games experience as I was giving it 10/10 up until that point
Remember when RE Remake was released on Gamecube and it's sales bombed? It was a phenomenal game, but no one cared. Dead Space remake is on ps5, but there's just simply not enough ps5 owners who also love Dead Space. Also, maybe today's gamers who bought a ps5 aren't interested in remakes of games from 2008. Maybe today's gamers want new games?
@@whiteeye3453 yes it did, if you say that you genuinely know nothing about resident evil lmao RE1’s gamecube remake was made by the same guy who made the first game, all he did was go back, add things that were cut from the original due to limitations and polished up the gameplay, even the most OG hardcore resident evil fans say the gamecube release replaced the ps1 game, you genuinely dont know what you’re talking about
Cant believe how Dead Space Remake didn't meet sales expectations, while other horror remakes like Resident Evil do despite being undeserving and underwhelming
Despite DS3 being not really liked, i'd ultimately rather they not retcon it, and just continue the story from it. The most 2 and 3 need are perhaps simply remasters.

It's especially if they're going to follow the same direction they did for Dead Space remake, then Dead Space 2 remake is a tall order as the original Dead Space 2 was already one of the most expensive games ever developed.

Secret ending of the remake does not imply a different story in the sequel. In 2 he builds another marker. That’s what they’re hinting at.
Being a developer under EA must be akin to a spouse in an abusive marriage. Nothing seems to please them, even if it's done to the letter it's never good enough.
Capcom can remakes Resident Evil 0-4, but not EA
I wouldn't put too much stock in the secret ending of the remake. I'm almost certain it was just supposed to be a fun what if scenario.

Ds remake was same as og

Dead Space was popular amongst the fans of the original. So most of us who played it definitely played the remake. It sucks that it didn't get enough sales. But if not a Dead Space 2 remake..then why not explore Dead Space 4? Since it's new, it could bring in a new audience.
Just let dead space 3 rot in hell that game sucked so bad.
Second one is the best but i love the whole series thoug

And they need to make a dead space 4 would love to see this universe expand.
sadly that’s not gonna happen anytime soon if ever
True Horror does not end. So the fact that we might not get future Dead Space games is just horrible.
The problem other than RE horror games are niche most normal people sre too scared to play them
There needs to be a dead space trilogy that's available for ps stores
I wasnt expecting a Dead Space 2 remake, it would of been cool but not necessary. Because the remake sort of captured alot of its spirit already with the movement. I do still think we should get a Dead Space 4. Because its after 2 and 3 they could add all those elements in part 4 plus new additions ect.
What a shame (about shelving another Dead Space follow-up to the Dead Space 2023 remake). I don't give a shit about other EA IPs like Iron Man and Battlefield 2042 - but I was a VERY enthusiastic customer of the Dead Space remake (2023)
The remake was £70 no fucking wonder it didn’t sell well. No remake ever should be £70. The only reason I bought it was because it dropped down to £35

I think Dead Space 3 was just that big of a flop in every way that it would be better to simply remake the games.
Dead space was such a great solid remake I just kept on replaying it
I 100% it.
One of the best games of that year for me.

Wich is why Remakes are bad

All because the dead space remake did not sell 178 quadrillion copies worldwide. We are not going to ever get a dead space remake or even a new game thanks to EA. What was the point of even making a new dead space game? Also because dead space is not a live service game filled with loot boxes that is another reason why the fans will not be made whole again.

Just my opinion: overall, the market didn't need a "Dead Space" remake. We loved the first one, it still holds up, and the remake includes some (unnecessary) changes. It was a fantastic remake, so disappointed that we won’t be getting more dead space.

Riddled with madness after being re-traumatized and plagued with the ghost of his beloved, Isaac remembered what the doctor had told him all those years ago…
_”We’re all gonna burn for what we did to you.”_
He looked towards Nicole, standing in the corner of his room.

To be fair Dead Space 2 holds up pretty well as it is. If they remade it it would probably be a completely new game with way more exploration than the original. That would be way too much work compared to Dead Space 1: Remake.

If they put a round based survival mode with slip screen or multiplayer in a new game , might be a game changer
