In Asia isn't a personal space respect thing? In The West/Europe it's to stop getting MeToo-ed. Even after getting consent, since women can retroactively withdraw consent, you're still shafted. In most of Asia it is still ok for men to help women and kids. In the West/Europe you're likely to get arrested and sued.

This is both touching as well as sad... On one hand, its wonderful that young children, like this little girl can ask for help from total strangers, with the innocent expectation that eventually, she will be helped. On the other hand, in places like in the West, we teach our kids to 'never trust strangers' and to ensure that our vulnerable children don't fall prey to some pervert or psychopath, who will surely hurt them.
I remember being on one of the busy, crowded commuter trains in Tokyo, and seeing what looked like kindergarten kids (wearing uniform, back-pack, hat, etc) travelling by themselves! Occaisionally, an adult standing nearby would randomly check on the child to ensure that they were OK, and to help remind them which station the child was headed. It is as if everyone felt a collective responsibility to ensure that the child was/felt safe and that he/she would get to where they needed to be.
There are aspects of East Asian cultures that are really admirable.
It's more that the west is a Melting pot then. It's easier to trust in a homogeneous society.
because we have crazy ppl that will try to steal kids in broad daylight, or while their at a bus stop waiting for their school bus to go to school. every country has its flaws but the west when it comes to a lot of these, we can do so much better but we dont

이런 걸 보노라면 우리 사회가 아직도 얼마나 따뜻한 것인지 알게 된다. 어린 아이를 도로가에 내둔 상태에서 모르는 이에게 아이를 맡긴다는 것을 세계 어느 나라에도 상상할 수 없는 일이 아닐까 싶다. 대한민국은 좋은 사람이 많다는 것이기에 이렇게 아이를 자유롭게 맡길 수 있다는 것이다. 다른 나라에서는 이게 가능할까.
думаю это только в Корее я живу в Казахстане но и здесь не очень безопасно оставлять детей одних и многим людям приходится отдавать детей на дополнительные занятия что бы вечером после работы их забрать и старшие классы в принципе могут сами потому не они не такие доверчивые (не про все)

나 학생 때 지갑 잃어버려서 정거장에서 옆에 계시던 아저씨한테 말하니까 만원 주셨음. 천원이면 된다니깐 혹시 모르니 가지라고 하시곤 쿨하게 가셨음. 그때 도와주셨던 아저씨들(한두번이 아니었음. 생각해보니 지갑 잃어버려도 크게 걱정 안 했던 듯. 도와주는 사람들이 있을 거라는 믿음이 있어서) 고맙습니다.

I admire Korea a lot too. Japan is similar almost the exact same and there's a show on Netflix of Japanese kids going to the store by themselves and they are trying to bring that show to America to do the same thing.
