    You beautiful! I commend your efforts for this educative information. Pls I studied Communications, Bsc and Msc. A discipline that's entirely different from Nursing. Though my Bsc is 2.2. is it possible for me to go for an after degree in nursing ? And if yes, pls pardon my instincts. I want to know if it's all nurses that end up injecting and treating patients.     I just landed in Canada as a PR , my previous degree is in science laboratory technology (geology option) ..

      That’s incorrect getting into university in the uk to study nursing as an international student has become more difficult and a lot more expensive because UK has left the EU

      Thank you, I’m glad you found this video helpful. Your question is dependent on the university. Before you take courses online, check in with the university you hope to attend because they have their educational requirements. Some may approve while some may disapprove.

    Hi lulu , I have a bsc in public health and I'm interested in this accelerated nursing program but my agent told me I won't be given a study visa because the course is not in line with my bsc. Can I pick something in line with my bsc and switch when I come to Canada

      I always advice that people get first had information from the school in which they wish to attend. I can’t certainly speak on what your agent has said.
      In terms of applying for something else and switching later on, that should not be a problem

      Hmmm, it’s tricky. I know statistics is part of the nursing program. But with the accelerated program, some universities would like you to have it prior to applying to their accelerated program. Check in with the university you intend to take your nursing program.

      Yes you can do that without having a science background. I recommend you start by looking into schools in Canada that offer pre nursing and what the requirements are

      Yes, you can. Provided you meet the requirements of the University’s medicine program which you wish to attend. They have expectations so I urge you to research that path

      You’re welcome!
      You can take prerequisites online or in person as long as the school which you decide to take the prerequisite is recognized by the nursing school you wish to go to.
      The length of time to complete the prerequisites can be anywhere from 1-2 semesters depending on how many courses you can handle at a time and off course if finance isn’t an issue.

I would like to apply to the accelerated nursing programme at Western University and amongst the prerequisites are Anatomy, physiology and Statistics.       If I understand correctly, you hold a diploma and not a degree?
      Generally, a diploma and a degree are two different things. To meet the requirements for the “after degree” nursing, one needs to hold an existing degree in another field of study (Bachelors or Masters) recognized by the institution they wish to attend.

      My first recommendation is to consult with the nursing regulatory body for the state in which you're seeking licensure and explain your situation to them, and they will guide you to the next steps. I highly recommend this for people who have international education.

      You can do it at any post secondary institution. But you have to check with the Nursing School which institution they will accept before enrolling for those courses.
      Yes, those foundational courses are compulsory as they’re the fundamentals of nursing practice

      Yes, there are institutions that offer these prerequisite. But it’s safest to ask your institution of choice (the school you’re hoping to attend) where you could take the required prerequisites. I hope this helps?

      I’m sure you can, but before you do… consult the nursing school which you hope to gain admission into and inquire which institutions are recognized for the prerequisites you want to take.
      PS: I didn’t mention this in the video but prerequisites can also be taken from the same school you wish to gain admission into.

      For some universities, yes. For some, no.
      It also depends on the country where you had your secondary education and what your first language is. The institution you apply to will assess if they need you to take the IELTS.
      Personally, I didn’t need it. But I took it.

    I think it is specifically for people with prior health sciences experience if you are like me with no biology and others, you will have to take the pre-health pathway or do the prerequisites

      People who have no science background can venture into nursing. There are schools that might require some prerequisites for sure. People who hold a science degree might also be asked for some foundational nursing science course(s) as part of the admission requirement like the University of Alberta
