Because the layout of table was according to the gradients, therefore total of individual treatments is calculated from observations table. If you look at the observations table, you will see individual values of each unit. "Ex" for "treatment A" will be sum of individual "A" observations given in the observations table, 66.42+64.16+62.73+56.79=250.1.

hi can I ask, when calculating SSt, where did the 250.1^2, 218.06^2, 204.89^2 all come from? They are not in the table right?
