got it 1/2 took 10 seconds in my head thanks for the fun
Hey Mr. Math man. I want to thank you for your videos on math. When I was in highschool I 2as slapped with stupid and through into a sped class and taught 2 plus 2 was 4 until my sophomore year highschool. I flunked college remedial algebra because this pemdas thing escaped me. Anyway you painted a picture that my brain understands nor only do I understand most of what I've seen you do I can do it in my head. I'm now home schooling my grandson and using you videos to help me help me help him. Thank you
1/2 / 1/2 = 1/2 x 2/1 = 1
1 x 1/2 = 1/2
So 1/2 + 1/2 - 1/2 = 1/2
This feels like a set of nested examples of general cases.
n ÷ n = 1
n ÷ a × a = n
n + a − a = n
1/2+1/2➗1/2 x 1/2-1/2
1/2+1/2x2/1x1/2-1/2
1/2x2/1x1/2 = 1/2
1/2+1/2-1/2 = 1/2
Answer: 1/2
I learnt PEMDAS as BODMAS, being Brackets, Of, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction.
priority rules left to right --> /, *, +, -
(1/2) + (1/2) / (1/2) * (1/2) - (1/2) = (1/2) + ((1/2) : (1/2)) * (1/2) - (1/2) = (1/2) + (1) * (1/2) - (1/2) = (1/2) + ((1) * (1/2)) - (1/2) = (1/2) + (1/2) - (1/2) = ((1/2) + (1/2)) - (1/2) = (1) - (1/2) = 1/2
Ans: 1/2
1/2+1/2÷1/2×1/2-1/2
=
1/2[1+1÷1×1-1]
=
1/2[1+1-1]
=
1/2
OR
(1/2)+(1/2)÷(1/2)×(1/2)-(1/2)
(1/2)+(1/2)×(2/1)×(1/2)-(1/2)
(1/2)+(1/2)-(1/2)
(1/2)
I like the way you factored out 1/2.
Works left to right with or without PEDMAS or BODMAS
Solved at the thumbnail in about 20 seconds, the answer is 1/2.
It's all about order of operations; good ol' PEMDAS, in other words.
No parentheses or exponents to worry about, so we move on to multiplication and division from left to right.
1/2 / 1/2 =1, and 1 * 1/2 takes us back to 1/2.
Next, addition; 1/2 + 1/2 takes us back to 1 again, and then we subtract 1/2 to get 1 - 1/2 = 1/2.
FYI, the yellow highlight on a green background is very difficult to see.
1/2 (multiply and divide 1st, then plus or minus)
Pre-fix (or post-fix) leaves no confusion - + ½ × ÷ ½ ½ ½ ½
Nice - thanks
So whitout open the video and calculating it MENTALLY in 2 seconds the RESULT can be only *"1/2"* , because in your expression I see only 1/2 ÷ 1/2 × 1/2 coz I canceled immediately in my head ~> 1/2-1/2 which is CERO. So divide 2 same fraction each other as 1/2 ÷ 1/2 it's equal *"1"* in all the world...... So remain to multiply just 1 × 1/2 which is = *1/2* !! Ok I'm genius in MENTAL CALCULATION and for me was very easy resolved it in just 2 seconds. 👍💪🤙🇪🇸🇦🇷🇨🇭🇮🇹🤦♂️ vamos!!
3/18ths
1/2 ÷ 1/2 it's just 1 that's all. You don't need to change the numerator with the denominator to multiply then the second fraction. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
1/2
Using PEMDAS the answer is 1/2
1/2. Did it in my head but checked it on the calculator before I entered the answer.
0.5
1
Answer ½
2 1/8
It took just a minuet in my head 🙂
I got ⅛: (1 / 2) + (((((1 / 2) ÷ 1) / 2) × 1) / 2) - (1 / 2). 😄
It's wrong 1/8, but 1/2 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Easy
Yay!
Another PEMDAS! Don’t you have parentheses in USA?😂
We don't know how to use them
Knowing the rules, it's not necessary in this example. Basically, it is PEMDAS, and it is left to right.
The entire point of the video is to teach the grammar of the notation without parentheses.
Yes, we do - we just don't use them (unless necessary, which it isn't here).
@@laurendoe168
We collectively have no idea how to use them. That's why we have all those stupid memes on FB.
In my brain 1/2
With this problem, you can completely ignore PEMDAS, and just work the problem left to right.
1/2+1/2=1. 1 divided by 1/2=2. 2X1/2=1. 1-1/2=1/2.
That's purely coincidence caused by the fact that only a single constant was used in the problem.
You don’t need a calculator or PEMDAS! 1/2 - 1/2 is zero, (1/2)/(1/2) is 1, and 1 * 1/2 = 1/2, done in under 5 seconds! I dot know what you were doing for over 9 minutes and I’m not going to watch the video to find out!
Took me about 1.4 secs.
Darn you missed it by .000001 seconds. 😂
You missed PEMDAS rule… please teach correctly…🎉it should be … 1-1/2.
What do you mean? The entire point of this video is using PEMDAS. What do you think he got incorrect?
PEMDAS sucks
PEMDAS is the rule, which means PEMDAS RULES!
@@laurendoe168actually it is an acronym but I get your point. 😀
why the hell can't I block this channel?!
If you unsub, it'll eventually be removed from the TH-cam algorithm once you stop clicking on the link to this channel. Clicking on the link to complain about the inability to block the channel ensures this channel is still in your algorithm.
@@laurendoe168 I never subbed, and I never searched any similar videos for youtube's algorithm to pick up. It just suddenly started appearing as a playlist, and there's no feature to have it removed.
I only started clicking to figure if there was a way to block or remove it. Normally I can just tell it not to recommend the channel, but this doesn't show any option to do so.
@@LiLsCo0tZ Yeah, I noticed the removal of the blocking option. The best you can do now is just use the "Ignore" option your consciousness offers.
