their movement reflected the lyricism of the music. if your teacher tells you not to move, fine, but you may eventually discover how your lyricism suffers as a consequence.
Is this really a Jr. High band? Wow, really awesome. The horns were rockin' it! But, my Dad always wrote great parts for brass. I thought the conductor's interpretation was really close to how Daddy conducted it. Great job!
As I recall there are a total of 188 measures in this song. 81 of them are easy enough for even middle school players to learn well enough in 2 weeks if they are taken through all 81 measures by "sight reading" just as is. "OK, beginning..................GO", etc. etc. etc. If a really good conductor knew this he could get half the song learned well enough within 2 weeks that the students could then keep practicing those sections on their own at home for the next few weeks while the more difficult parts are learned in school. Also many of the individual parts in certain parts of the song are easy to memorize within one month. This way they don't have to worry about getting lost, or playing slower than is absolutely necessary.
Do you have to be such a pessimist? These are extremely hard rhythms, various time signature changes, and complex structures that even high school bands take plenty of time to learn. Don't tell me the average middle school could sight read this.
Teenage Nerd Seriously doubt you sound anywhere as good as this band. I played this piece back in middle school and I know we didn't. This band has clearly put hard work into this and I just don't understand why some people can't accept that.

Brett Rogers we are doing this song at my middle school and we got the first two pages down in 3 days

Brett Rogers not once did say we sounded like them right now we are getting the rhythms down and our notes don't sound bad but we are making it better
That guy on the timpani's face though
It's depressing how much better they are than me at such a young age...
kamenriderfan54321 they practice a lot
lol
Possibly out performing a lot of pros. KEEP HAVING FUN
Geez they just kinda blow through those triplets, even during the slow powerful parts
What happened to the double reeds? Why don't they have any?
This was the jam back in the day! Percussion killed it!
The guy on timpani is my role model. I'm not even a percussionist. c:
did they skip the Tuba solo somewhere during the last 1 minute or 2? becuase we are playing this song too, but damn, they r good
all though I am in orchestra I still really in joyed this musical selection
The freaking trombones are killing it! xD

5 TIMPANIS!!! WANT
... my school only has 3... it certainly makes this song a challenge...
Bravo!
Holy posture bass clarinet jeezus that's bad.
p-izza.co.jp it’s totally not adjusted for her whatsoever
The timpani part is a blast, no lie.
yeah, but they're motivated by never being told that anything they do is good enough. it's a hard way to live life.
Wait wait wait, we’re just going to ignore that wink at 4:36???
French horns were epic
They look awfully young to be playing a Grade 5 song!
BALANCE at the end percussion....
They move a bit too much, but they're pretty dang good!
for whatever i think I'm good at, there's always an asian better than me.....
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You know these kids parents made them practice this 9 hours a day.
Why do the clarinets dance? And I think that trumpet solo was a little funky.
TheJoJmaster or tap foot minimally
The trumpet played wrong notes. Otherwise it was fine. Trumpets could use a bit more air in the exciting part. '
Why are the trumpets better than my hs varsity band trumpets😭😭
Hey Dodson
thats me!
5:21
how old are they?
They are all 12-14
@sedog57 that's exactly what I thought!!
How old are they???
14
0:24
junior high? wow.
Junior
My high school symphonic band sounds sumilar
I played this in middle school lol
jk but i was in my band :)
manly trumpets. especially the chick
...... 5:18 ....
Rather wimpy trombone slide at the end.
Why are Asians so good at music?
hen hao! this band puts a lot of US college bands to shame.
Well, most college's band's are not true ensembles or an honor band. Many are recreational or just a hobby-sequel group. The FSU band is amazing.
i bet that our symphonic band plays better then that but u guy rocked that song thumbs up!!!!!
sad thing about is they are probably bad in asia...
Frakin commies
the trumpet solo was pretty crappy
