Unbelievable octave control! It was so exciting to witness in person.

Any Tommy medley that doesn't contain either Go To The Mirror or the Amazing Journey solo-vamp feels like a missed opportunity...but then again, we can always welcome that "slide trumpet"/"soprano trombone"/whatever-you-want-to-call-it

This was one of several charts that us fans were expecting on an upcoming album. Along with "Fruit of the Loon" and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." MF would talk about an upcoming album and then we'd always have to wait longer than expected! I'm not sure "Tommy Medley" would have gone over that well on album, as opposed to live. Anyway, the tunes I cited here got pushed aside in favor of Maynard's big detour into disco. Commercially that detour worked out great for him! Remember how we waited for "M.F. Horn 3" and then it turned out to be disappointing?

Bill Chase was much younger than Maynard. This comment should be turned around. Chase got his inspiration from Maynard.

@@peterpankratz8798 Chase was 6 years younger. He also used a lot of electronics with the Chase band, specifically the echo chamber that MF uses at the end of Tommy and Pagliacci. I think that is what he is referencing.
