Just found your channel and what a joy it is to see you getting the younger generation involved. Raced pigeons for 15 years then stopped for 12 years but the bug just never leaves. Plans getting drawn for my new loft, thanks for inspiring me.
Fascinating video! I've always known about racing, but I don't race my pigeons, I just keep them as companions in my house!! I've always loved watching the races though, but id be terrified of some not returning home safely. Beautiful birds! Love from Chicago, IL USA!
Excellent old bird season well done, and all the best to Charlie you two get on well and he is so knowledgeable so must be a help to you 😀good the boys seem to help also.
Good to see you back on mate not seen you for a while hope all's good with you and your birds. God results and good returns well done mate Look forward to your next videos
I have been binge watching your videos for a while now, and you are very inspiring. I am a show type racing homer fancier, and im really considering racing as well.
Excellent video, I have watched you for a long time, I am subscribed but stopped being notified. I've just subscribed and scribed again, hopefully this will work and I receive notifications again when you upload a video.
The 2 late Lerwick birds will be better 4 it at Lerwick next year. Always love a distance bird to have nights out... years ago my grandad used to train his channel birds from the furthest distance he could, and liberate at nightfall so they had to stop out. He excelled at distance flying.... just a thought...
Thing is with distance birds you think you’re going them good by resting them beforehand. We always liked a bird to have at least a 6 hour race before we sent them to France. Feedings everything also for that distance and peanuts and fats and even cheese are needed to get them to fly extreme distances on hard days otherwise they hit the wall
@@manuelabethirdycarel I haven't got into bloodlines and strains yet. My initial thoughts are that once the 'strain' leaves the original breeders loft you can no longer be sure what it is. I think the importance is in the breeder's skill and knowledge of his own stock. The best breeders will know which of his birds to mate whereas anyone else with two or more of his birds will have to do the guess work and experiments (unless the breeder hands over his notes and results too). If John Smith buys a kit from breeder A, then breeds from those himself, the offspring in my view are now John Smiths. Not Breeder A. Perhaps this is different if he buys an established breeding pair, but I think that's a rare opportunity if the pair are breeding good YBs. Caveat, all of that could be wrong.
Love your videos. The nice thing about the race isyou can have a cup of tea while your waiting
❤Thanks for sharing! Love your video’s! Greetings from Amsterdam
