    Since the last album I:
    Got married
    Did the Iraq thing
    Had a son
    Got divorced
Met the love of my life
    Learned to play bass
    Developed a drug habit
    Awakened my alcoholism
    Left the army
    Ruined my career
    Lost my house
    Lost my car
Lost the love of my life
    Lost most of my friends
    Kicked the drugs
Started getting my life back on track
    Accepted irrelevancy
    Made a video game
Huh... that's kind of a weird one to end on.
We'll see what happens next, I guess.

@@UnequalTemperament Thanks for the kind words! I definitely chose this song and not one of the others to share that because the whole motif of a once-proud warrior growing old and fading into obscurity is so on the nose for me it's insane. But most importantly, I wish you well in your story too! I'm not going to share the game because it's not something I want to associate with me as a person, especially with my lows that I listed. Long in tooth and soul,
    Longing for another win.
    Lurch into the fray,
    Weapon out and belly in.
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain
    Consequential
    Bellow out loud
    Bold and proud
    Where I've been
    But here I am.
    Beating chest and drum,
    Beating tired bones again.
    Age-old battle mind,
    Weapon out and belly in.
    Tales told
    Of Battles won
    The things we've done
    Caligula would grin
    Leading tired bones,
    Tripping through 'remember when.'
    Once invincible,
    Now the armor's wearing thin.
    Heavy shield, down.
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain

    Warrior struggling
    To remain

    Fill with hope
    I can taste
    Mythical fountains
    False hope, perhaps.
    But the truth
    Never Stood
    In my way
    Before now
    Feel the sting

This song is absolutely incredible. The name is almost anathema to the lyrics. It's the desperation of an old and broken warrior. The rhythm mercilessly grinding, marching forward, "time bearing down". Yet, underneath it's the measured incredible tempo and time signature changes almost shouting "not yet" here I am. It's unbelievable.

I just came out with 2 new ones in April. For a Tool fan I would recommend "Change Your Mind" or "The Ethnosphere's Duality." My personal favorite is Erhnosphere's Duality. I think it's the most Truthful book I've ever written and that's saying something because I'm known as the Truth Seeker. Whatever book you buy get ready to leave behind "proper" punctuation, grammar, and other poisons of the celebration of the mediocre/imitation of poetry running amok in contemporary lit world and enter a world rife with word combos or newly invented words--like taking a noun and changing it to an adjective. You can still understand the words--words like Proximitous and Boister. Thanks for your interest. DONT BUY "About Consciousness"--"Change Your Mind" is an extended version of that book.

It's definitely not boring. With the 2 latest songs, all members shine, but Descending provides a better spotlight for Adam Jones guitar with epic leading for almost half the song, and this one Invincible lets Justin and Danny shine more with devastating rhythm leading and carrying most of this tune. You can draw your own conclusions about what is being said, so long as you grasp a gist of what it means. He makes you think, and all the pot haze clouded kids feel they are insightful when they make comments on these videos. He speaks from clarity and a blank open mind. I'm one of the guilty masses that hasn't bought a physical copy of a CD in years. In fact last CD I bought was 10000 days. Now all these years later I'll come full circle and buy their new album in august. Along with Slipknot's, KSE, and Korn. Gonna be a great year for metal boys and girls....horns up!

    ***-INVINCIBLE -WORDS-TO-SONG-*** ENJOY =D
    Long in tooth and soul,
    Longing for another win.
    Merge into the fray,
    Weapon out and belly in.
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain
    Consequential
    Bellow out loud
    Bold and proud
    Where I've been
    But here I am.
    Beating chest and drum,
    Beating tired bones again.
    Aged old battle mind,
    Weapon out and belly in.
    Tales told
    Of Battles won
    The things we've done
    Caligula would grin
    Leading tired bones,
    Tripping through 'remember when.'
    Once invincible,
    Now the armor's wearing thin.
    Heavy shield, down.
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain
    Relevant
    Warrior struggling
    To remain
    Consequential
    Cry out loud
    Bold and proud
    Where I've been
    Here I am
    Where I am
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain
    Relevant
    Warrior
    Struggling
    To remain
    Consequential
    Tears in my eyes
    Chasing Ponce de Leon's
    Phantom soul
    Fill with hope
    I can taste
    Mythical fountain's
    False hope, perhaps.
    But the truth
    Never Stood
    In my way
    Before now
    Feel the sting
    Feeling time
    Bearing down.

      ALSO...TOOL-*DESCENDING- WORDS TO SONG*
: Free fall for our lived life
This epilogue of our own fable
      Heedless... our slumber
      Floating at the end
Free fall through this boundless land
This madness of our own making
      Crawling, isn't flying
      Growing isn't infinite
      Come our end suddenly
      All hail our lethargy
      Come see suddenly
      To the quick end
      Disillusioned pray
      We mitigate this ruin
Calling all to walk in order
      Drifting through this boundless land
This madness of our own making
      Sound our dire reveille
      Row off our apathy
      Lest we
      Cease to be
      Stir us from our
      Walking slumber
      Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to walk in order
      Some will travel far
      Through the primal body
      Some will never leave
To be or not to be
      Pride
      Stay the grand finale
      Stay the reading of our
      Swan song and epilogue
      One try to stay alive
      Elementary muster every fiber
      Mobilize
      Stay alive
      Stir us from our
      Walking slumber
      Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to walk in order...

It was totally worth the wait getting to hear a new Tool song LIVE for the first time. Took me back to 10,000 Days, the same exitment I had when I heard Vicarious the first time!

This one seems to be pretty straight forward imo.
As Age wears you down, you try to stay relevant, telling stories of how you once were but here you are now, putting up the long fight that you know you cant win. Yet you struggle on anyways, searching for that feeling of youth, that energy that you'll never have anymore.
That's what I've taken of it, and I definately think it's a song relevant but not limited to Maynard
