This is the only song where I agree. The drumming is just a little too loud/rest too quiet in the studio version. But as with all Tool songs, live versions will eventually catch up and surpass studio version ;) They rock live!

I definitely chose this song and not one of the others to share that because the whole motif of a once-proud warrior growing old and fading into obscurity is so on the nose for me it's insane. But most importantly, I wish you well in your story too! I'm not going to share the game because it's not something I want to associate with me as a person, especially with my lows that I listed. I want it to stand on its own legs. Hope you understand. 🙂
I never stopped to think how much this band influenced my own jump into mysticism & the occult. When I learned of Danny Carey's interest in Crowley I kinda flipped cuz ænima & liber a'ash helped me pull out of this fucked up dark place I was in. Definitely something there

Just because they are simple and not vague doesn't make the lyrics any less poetic or meaningful. I think the song, and the lyrics, are brilliant, especially that dreamy part where Maynard throws off the veil on the whole thing...
i agree with you but I dont think it should have taken them 13 years to do a mashup of some song's they've been playing for 20. I was bored by about the halfway mark on this track, its certainly nothing new.
Dont get me wrong. I love everything Tool has ever put on record. But to say it's boring and nothing new. I say keep it that way. I DO hear Aenima in this. And that album was when they were definitely in their prime(JMO). They have never lost their integrity. But reminding me of that time and era and sound. Well.....it makes me feel alive again.

I am 48 years old and have been a fan of Tool since Undertow came out. I had a chance to see them live in 2001 and didn't go, gave my ticket away like an idiot. I got to see them May 17 this year in Des Moines. Wife and I had front row seats and stood at the rail the whole concert. It was incredible to finally get to them live.

This song is absolutely incredible. The name is almost anathema to the lyrics. It's the desperation of an old and broken warrior. The rhythm mercilessly grinding, marching forward, "time bearing down". Yet, underneath it's the measured incredible tempo and time signature changes almost shouting "not yet" here I am. It's unbelievable.
Yeah, new Tool has steeled my resolve to go forward after losing my partner of 4 years suddenly (we went to the Hamilton show for her 30th Birthday). Stay strong mate, enjoy what will truly be a spectacle of light and sound!

Like tf this is not a bad tool song, both songs are epic. Maybe because I'm more into rock and Tool is one of the heavier bands I listen to while others are metalheads and Tool is one of their lighter bands.

After I saw them life one week ago I fell in love with this song. It made me cry simply because I was able to feel and connect to music in a way I never expected to exist. (And I lost my mind thanks to the breakdown.) Right now I’m dancing to this song in my room - this album is going to be breathtaking.

two things: 1. the tempo change a little over 7 minutes in....nice. 2. the line: "Feeling time, Bearing down" really stuck with me. man, these guys are good. they really are a once in a generation type of band.
People saying this song is boring are missing the point. It's methodical, prodding, tedious, and then towards the end quite desperate and cathartic. It doesn't take a genius to make allusions to the story of life. Almost like the lyrics reflect this realization, no?
Its not boring at all. Listen to the odd timing signatures as tool always has. Anyone that says its boring literally has no concept of music and writing.
It's definitely not boring. With the 2 latest songs, all members shine, but Descending provides a better spotlight for Adam Jones guitar with epic leading for almost half the song, and this one Invincible lets Justin and Danny shine more with devastating rhythm leading and carrying most of this tune. Maynard sounds great in both songs too without hogging. He really sounds great, especially for live.
I don’t see any hate towards the songs anywhere but if I did I’d understand why This is going to be Tool’s “softest” album to date They’re older now with secure lives they really don’t have shit to scream about and it’s something people forget about when a band survives this long This song alone has some of AJ’s most complex guitar work ever though

When was I so proud and certain? What are my “remember when’s”? Tool remains and has always been an experience, a medium for self examination and growth. Grateful for the experience.
My speaker set up was in storage... I recently went and got it. Set it up in my room. I plan on starting from Opiate and work up to 10,000 Days while I wait for Fear Inoculum to be delivered (I pre ordered the special edition off of amazon). I just saw them perform this live at Download, and no lie, it was the highlight of their entire set for me. Incredible stuff. It has a real depth that you can only appreciate in a live setting. The entire audience was practically in a trance.
Idk what i like more Adams tasty riffs, Justin's bass solo, or Danny's wicked drum fill towards the end of the song, before the chorus/verse before the breakdown.
I was 11 when Tool dropped their first album. At that age I listened but didnt comprehend. I am 37 now and the emotions I feel are indescribable. My poetry is actually inspired by MJK. You can draw your own conclusions about what is being said, so long as you grasp a gist of what it means. He makes you think, and all the pot haze clouded kids feel they are insightful when they make comments on these videos. He speaks from clarity and a blank open mind. Its hard to fully understand what hes trying to convey, but if ur a Tool-lifer you get it.

Thomas Neihoff I honestly shouldn’t have gone because my wife and I couldn’t really afford 2 tickets for over $200 at the time and a $40 tour shirt. But I said fuck it. The band hadn’t been to KY since Lateralus tour in ‘01 and I’ll forever regret it if we sit this one out.
I feel this is like a mash-up of Ænima, lateralus, forty six & 2, push it, and Rosetta stoned all mixed into one but not at all. If that makes any sense.
I'm one of the guilty masses that hasn't bought a physical copy of a CD in years. In fact last CD I bought was 10000 days. Now all these years later I'll come full circle and buy their new album in august. Along with Slipknot's, KSE, and Korn. Gonna be a great year for metal boys and girls....horns up!

Saw this song on my suggested videos about 2 weeks before I went to see them live in St Louis. it was almost impossible trying to not listen. It was totally worth the wait getting to hear a new Tool song LIVE for the first time. Took me back to 10,000 Days, the same exitment I had when I heard Vicarious the first time!
This one seems to be pretty straight forward imo. As Age wears you down, you try to stay relevant, telling stories of how you once were but here you are now, putting up the long fight that you know you cant win. Yet you struggle on anyways, searching for that feeling of youth, that energy that you'll never have anymore. That's what I've taken of it, and I definately think it's a song relevant but not limited to Maynard

I am 48 years old and have been a fan of Tool since Undertow came out. I had a chance to see them live in 2001 and didn't go, gave my ticket away like an idiot. I got to see them May 17 this year in Des Moines. Wife and I had front row seats and stood at the rail the whole concert. It was incredible to finally get to them live.

This song is absolutely incredible. The name is almost anathema to the lyrics. It's the desperation of an old and broken warrior. The rhythm mercilessly grinding, marching forward, "time bearing down". Yet, underneath it's the measured incredible tempo and time signature changes almost shouting "not yet" here I am. It's unbelievable.

Like tf this is not a bad tool song, both songs are epic. Maybe because I'm more into rock and Tool is one of the heavier bands I listen to while others are metalheads and Tool is one of their lighter bands.

I think it's the most Truthful book I've ever written and that's saying something because I'm known as the Truth Seeker. Whatever book you buy get ready to leave behind "proper" punctuation, grammar, and other poisons of the celebration of the mediocre/imitation of poetry running amok in contemporary lit world and enter a world rife with word combos or newly invented words--like taking a noun and changing it to an adjective. You can still understand the words--words like Proximitous and Boister. Thanks for your interest. DONT BUY "About Consciousness"--"Change Your Mind" is an extended version of that book.

After I saw them life one week ago I fell in love with this song. It made me cry simply because I was able to feel and connect to music in a way I never expected to exist. (And I lost my mind thanks to the breakdown.)

People saying this song is boring are missing the point. It's methodical, prodding, tedious, and then towards the end quite desperate and cathartic. It doesn't take a genius to make allusions to the story of life. Almost like the lyrics reflect this realization, no?
Its not boring at all. Listen to the odd timing signatures as tool always has. Anyone that says its boring literally has no concept of music and writing.

It's definitely not boring. With the 2 latest songs, all members shine, but Descending provides a better spotlight for Adam Jones guitar with epic leading for almost half the song, and this one Invincible lets Justin and Danny shine more with devastating rhythm leading and carrying most of this tune. Maynard sounds great in both songs too without hogging. He really sounds great, especially for live.

I just saw them perform this live at Download, and no lie, it was the highlight of their entire set for me. Incredible stuff. It has a real depth that you can only appreciate in a live setting. The entire audience was practically in a trance.

I have listened to this so many times now, it’s embedded in my mind among all of their other songs. I can’t wait for this album.
Idk what i like more Adams tasty riffs, Justin's bass solo, or Danny's wicked drum fill towards the end of the song, before the chorus/verse before the breakdown.
I was 11 when Tool dropped their first album. At that age I listened but didnt comprehend. I am 37 now and the emotions I feel are indescribable. My poetry is actually inspired by MJK. You can draw your own conclusions about what is being said, so long as you grasp a gist of what it means. He makes you think, and all the pot haze clouded kids feel they are insightful when they make comments on these videos. He speaks from clarity and a blank open mind. Its hard to fully understand what hes trying to convey, but if ur a Tool-lifer you get it.
Thank you for the great quality upload. Armageddon is near as this maybe the last Tool album. Maynard isn't getting any younger, the lyrics meaning has a deeper understanding if you listen with an open mind. ToolArmy for life!

I'm one of the guilty masses that hasn't bought a physical copy of a CD in years. In fact last CD I bought was 10000 days. Saw this song on my suggested videos about 2 weeks before I went to see them live in St Louis. it was almost impossible trying to not listen. It was totally worth the wait getting to hear a new Tool song LIVE for the first time. Took me back to 10,000 Days, the same exitment I had when I heard Vicarious the first time!

This one seems to be pretty straight forward imo.
As Age wears you down, you try to stay relevant, telling stories of how you once were but here you are now, putting up the long fight that you know you cant win. Yet you struggle on anyways, searching for that feeling of youth, that energy that you'll never have anymore.
That's what I've taken of it, and I definately think it's a song relevant but not limited to Maynard
