I have 3 cats, and my oldest one, Tilda, is 14. We went on a vacation for 4 days, and poor Tilda was very upset. She wouldn't stop following me around the house for many days and she is still pretty needy! Your kitties are adorable, Yana. I adore this card and I think I might have something in my stash to try something similar. I'm not the best colorist, but I do like to color!
I haven't colored anything in months as we just moved but I am in the process of setting up my new card room downstairs. I am not that good at coloring but I keep trying because I do enjoy it a lot. Your card is so pretty, I love it. We have 6 rescue cats and let me tell you when they see a suitcase they run, I think they think we are taking them with us and they hate the car. It was a 15 hour non-stop drive from our old house to the new one and they were very unhappy when we let them out of their crates and they let us know by putting holes in the blow-up queen mattress we were using until our furniture arrived!!
Yana, Thank you for the creation that I know that I can master. Well at least I hope so, and also the cats are so precious and so is your husband. At least for Christmas you will all be together. Thank you again.
Awww! Love you too, sweetie! Our cat is the same way!! What a precious family photo!! I have a “Joy” candy cane stamp that I am looking forward to using and coloring! Thank you so much for sharing!❤️
Yana, another great and beautiful card, and the simplicity of is what makes it stand out. I love your kitties and understand how you feel about them. We always had cats while growing up, but now my hubby and I have dogs. We love them so much; they are such a part of our family, even our grandchildren want our dog to “talk to them” (that is to bark a hello) when they call. I hadn’t realized you had returned home. I’m glad for you. There’s certainly no place like home. 😘
I love coloring, it’s very relaxing. Copics are expensive though. I use colored pencils instead but I need to learn and understand shading to make coloring more realistic.
Wow the simplicity of this card is just beautiful ... Totally get the Copic coloring fear ... Have a nice group of colors and just to get the right shading gets me crazy ... And you're right about the practicing it is key ... But when I look at this, it inspires me to give it a try! Love your work and your cats 🐱🐱🐱🐱
Your coloring amazes me. Love when you use your polychromos as well. Fear is what used to stop me but thanks to videos -and generous crafters like you- I learned and practice, So I think my coloring has gotten better. I do own very few copics but I make it work. Love your cats and your family pictures! TFS! Laura
I do color with my Prisma Color pencils, my Zigs, and my Stampin' Up! Blendabilites. I only have a few Copics and I bought a video, but I haven't started scoring with them yet bc I want to get a few more first. Your cats are so sweet looking--I'm sure they missed you while you were away. Love your cards and apparently appreciate the tutorial on simple cards. Have a blessed day.
Love your design! I find that I am enjoying this clean approach you are using now, I will have to try it myself. Thanks for showing us your kitties, I am a cat lover too 😻
Hi Yana. I need to buy more Christmas stamps, does. We’re on vacation and I’ve been bing watching your vid. We’ve been driving and driving in Oregon. Driving back home to San Diego, Cali and we have a lot of hours to drive so more videos. I was happy to see you posted this new one. Love these stamps and the cards you make. Thanks
Thanks again for another beautiful card. The striped background was perfect for the card and it looked easy to do. Your cats are beautiful too. I have a 13.5 year-old cat and she is the boss. She likes to stay outside in the warm/hot weather. When I pulled into the driveway, she will jump onto the hood of the car and stand on the side mirror until I roll down the window. I have to pet her and then she will climb into the car and take a nap! This can last for an hour. I watch a lot of TH-cam videos in my driveway!
Yana, this card is simply gorgeous! I don't have copic markers because they are too expensive! I wish they could bring the cost down so "average" people could afford them! I do love seeing you use them though. You are getting to be quite the expert! Thanks for sharing this experience with us!
Your so right, I love watching your coloring, and thank you for taking the time to teach us how you work through the techniques. Im new to the coloring with comics and pencils, and I soooo struggle and think I will never get it, but im going to just keep practicing. I love you. 😘 😍 Thank you so mcuhhh!
I love to colour but find I’m asking myself “is it good enough” to make a card with, more often than not I don’t use it! ♥️ thank you for your lovely inspirational card ♥️
Wow I would never have thought that card was that easy still not sure of the coloring but Im willing to try it lol! thank you. Your cats are cute we have two small dogs so I know how fun animals are ! our dogs are sisters but look nothing alike.
What a great ending to this video. Loved seeing your kitties 😊 And also nice to hear your coloring story. Coloring completely intimidated me in the beginning but I really wanted to learn how to color. The problem was that I was too afraid of making mistakes (wanted everything to be perfect right away, talk about wishful thinking 😂). I slowly progressed from that state and are now daring to try more and I’m having lots more fun 😊
Hey Yana....all my life, and I'm a Nana now, I have enjoyed coloring, however, I always colored to the line with efficiency, covered every white spot, and always colored my images 'flat', ie no shading; basically the way we were taught in school when I was a young girl. I wouldn't say I colored consistently throughout my life but I did color with my kids and grandkids whenever I had the chance. Now since then (in my just under 4 years of card making), since I started watching a TON of card making videos, obviously I quickly realized I was coloring wrong and that makes a huge impact to incorporate shading and adding dimension when coloring images. No doubt I have struggled using my Copics but at the same time, I think it is an essential part of card making, as if you can even 'get by' with your Copics, IMHO it is the most efficient way to quickly add color. I struggle with blending and bleeding and would love to become more efficient with my Copics. Like you said and I totally agree, the saying, 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again', applies here! So much to learn and not enough time but heh, I'm havin a laugh along the way! Thanks to you and many others, I am incredibly appreciative of the education and have learned so, so much!
Great design!!!! Really appreciate your honesty about coloring!! I think a lot of people watching your videos see all the fabulousness of your talent but don't realize that it may have taken a few tries to get the perfect result. Thank you for sharing. Your cats are beautiful. We have to do that with our dogs, hide the packing. Once our Corgi tried to climb in the suitcase. He wanted to go anyway he could!!! Thanks again. Take care.
I love the simplicity of your cards. I too have followed your copic marker ways by starting with a few and building. I just get scared about the right area to shadow and highlight and don’t want to mess up my card. Practice does make perfect I know. I am a paramedic and have started taking my stuff to work to practice when I’m not on emergencies. I really appreciate when you talk about light source and how to shade. Your cards are truly beautiful and amazing. Your videos are very easy to learn from. Thank you so much for sharing your work. Very happy holidays to you.
I love how simply elegant your card is!! Wow! I dont have enough copics but try really hard to blend with my spectrum noirs, I have always thought I had to have the whole collection so stopped purchasing after a few. I am going to try this technique with the stripes and go watch your copic video. Oh my how sweet are your fur babies! Im a cat mom too and I love my girls to bits! So glad you all are together again. TFS! Hugs from Philadelphia! -Christine Can you link your Copic video I could not find it. Thanks!
I’m like you in that I am a little shy to coloring because, I’m not real good at it. So now I am try to practice more because every time, they don’t turn out like I wanted. As for the “ less is more”, it is hilarious, because my husband has been telling me that for 20 years.
Your cats are just gorgeous, I have a totally spoilt dog so understand completely. Your card was stunning, I'd love to be able to colour but struggle with the shading & light source bits. I've got nuvo pens, colouring pencils & the Altenew water colours, I do use them but am never truly happy with the results.
Lovely design! I enjoy colouring much more now as well, my COPIC collection is definitely not big, but I got the Sandy Allnock hex chart and I’m now trying to get new markers based on it - seems to be working really well! Plus, practice, indeed! The more I colour, the more I realise what works and what doesn’t...
Thank you so much for this video. I love the idea of doing something simple with limited supplies. I also am not so great with the colouring and for the same reasons! I first bought the 3 packs but those really didn't go well together and the colours weren't all nice, lol. I then bought some 'true' colours like basic, true red, green etc. and a few to close the gaps as you said. I still need a really nice pink and a few more shades. I would love to see your collection. On another note, I've never had cats in my life but yours are really beautiful! Take care.
It is after midnight here in Australia, but I decided to watch this before I went to bed. Glad I did - I was doing some cardmaking today and attempted some alcohol marker colouring but after I failed miserably I resorted to watercolouring which I was happier with. For some reason the colouring always bleeds outside of the lines and I can never get the blend I like. Your words in this video however have inspired me to keep trying ! Thanks Yana.
I like the background stripes and easy to do, nice to use the platform to help make straight lines...thanks for the tip....your cats are beautiful.....tfs
Wow! First Let Me say how much I admire your honesty!! The card is beautiful!! And wonderful tips! Oh my your family I’d beautiful! What are the two fur babies names? I am afraid of exactly what you where when it comes to colouring. So having said that I’m going to take your advice! Thanks Yana! We love u too!!
Yana, thank you so much for encouraging me to try coloring again. I love to color but it just seems like I don't quite know how to mix my markers. One color can mess up everything for me. I wnt to try doing less is more and getting out my markers. I only have about a hand full of copic markers and a mixture of several other brands witch I love. One again Thank you for you inspiration.
My pleasure, Teresa! I know I lacked encouragement when I was just starting out with Copics, so I'm trying to encourage you and others. Coloring is such a peaceful and pleasant way to spend time ❤
What a festive card! And so easy to make many for mailing! Your kitty cats are beautiful! I have a large dog who has high anxiety...she gets crazy if she’s not in the same room! When I go out for a few hours she lays by the door until I get back!
Beautiful card Jana I love to watch you craft and especially colouring. I am a perfectionist and very OCD. I find I am afraid of my colouring looking bad so I shy away from markers. I have a full set of promarkers but wish I had bought less and had the copic. I am better at watercolouring but would love to use markers better... I must practice more and not stress out so much. Thanks for your inspiration xx
Wonderful card! Less is more! Thank you for the tips and inspiration! I LOVE to color and practice my shading! I currently don’t own any Copic markers but I’d love to start collecting them! It’s good to know you don’t have to have them all!
Animals are sensitive creatures & very observant & knowing. My dad had a Shetland collie, the little guys. Unfortunately the only time dad took the dog in the car was to go to the vet. All it took for Sasha to stress out was to hear the sound of keys :(
I have spectrum noir markers and find it difficult to blend colors because they do not have the brush nibs, only the pointy and chisel nibs. And as I cannot bring myself to invest in the brush nibs, or other markers, I just don’t color as much as I would like to. P.S. Your cats are adorable! 😍
great cards and cute kitties, I would die if I had to leave them for two years...3 days in hospital was enough lol. I understand you cannot take them with you easily, main reason I don't travel, cats and vegetable garden lol
Love this card but as you stated.... the coloring is daunting for me. Not enough copies, not enough practice. Love how your card turned out though! I really need to look back at your color guide for copies. I watched it and loved it but have to creat a wish list!
Love the cards and thanks for sharing the cats. Not sure if you saw about Hurricane Florence hitting North and South Carolina in the States. My kids live in Wilmington, NC about 10 minutes from where the eye made landfall. My oldest, his wife and 8 month baby girl went to his in-laws along with their 2 dogs and 2 cats about 3 1/2 hours inland. My youngest son packed up and headed North to home to us in Maryland with his 2 cats with, let's be totally honest here, they are his children. At 25 he's a 'helicopter parent' to them and they are full blood brother and sister :) . So he had a 9 hour drive on Tuesday but is safe and living in our basement right now because my hubby and I have a cat and dog and they don't get along with his 2 cats. The kids could be displaced for a good long while it looks like. I feel very sad for them. The hurricane started on Thursday and may not be out until maybe Sunday because it's just sitting there at a 3 mph crawl, ugh!!
Thank you Karen. It's been a very long weekend sitting here watching the news and social media seeing the reports and trying to figure what's flooded and how badly. The worse thing is, is that just because the hurricane has just now moved out of the area as of tonight (Sunday night), the flooding isn't over. Wilmington alone received over 30+ inches of rain bringing their rain total for the year to almost 90+ inches which is the new record for them and the year isn't even over. So now it's time to sit and see how much further the Cape Fear River will rise in the coming days which will be a lot more and some of the other rivers near by because the water basically has no where to go. My oldest son has an idea about his neighborhood and fears there may be some water damage but we aren't sure how much. My youngest just doesn't know if the water made it to his apartment or not but does know that there is flooding near him. Also, my youngest, the company he works for, most of the Weather Channel people have been reporting from News Center Drive at the Exxon station in Wilmington near UNCW, which is where he works and that is completely flooded. Is the building he works at flooded we just aren't sure because they haven't shown that part of the road? My oldest doesn't know about the company he works for as of yet either. It's all a wait and see game now. But they are safe and that's the most important thing!! Thanks again!!!
Thanks Nikki Hensley. I'm happy to report that my oldest headed back to their rental home yesterday and found that they had ZERO flooding and very minimally damage. They lost a couple of shingles and some fence posts in the backyard. Obviously they lost what food they couldn't bring, but that's nothing. He does have power so he is staying through part of the weekend to help people from his work who unfortunately lost everything. He will be trying to head to his brother's apartment at some point but his apartment is so close to the Cape Fear River that he's not sure he'll be able to get there since it hasn't crested yet so we'll see. My oldest wants to also put the apartment back together since they put things up to try to save things and they left quickly so it's a mess. He also cleaned out the fridge and the freezer that they have in the garage, so when he goes to pick up his wife, baby girl and pets when they come back to the house, they can just unload the cars and return to some normalcy pretty quickly. The plan for both my kids is to stock up on food and water before returning since they aren't sure if the grocery stores will have anything just yet so they'll go with food packed and full tanks of gas as well. Thanks for asking. It's a mess down there and it's so sad to watch. I know our country as been through so many natural disasters before, but this is a first for me, hitting so close to home and a place that is so close to my heart. My son found is wife in Wilmington, got married in Wrightsville Beach, in a beautiful beach wedding which was an extremely emotional wedding since I almost didn't make it since I have serious health issues and couldn't travel so I look back at those wedding photos from April 2016 at Shell Island Resort and now look at that resort and want to cry. My son had his baby girl, our first grandchild in Wilmington, it's a beautiful place. He's lived there quite a while now since he transferred down there to finish his last two years of college and graduated from UNCW and now our youngest has lived there for three years now. We've spent quite a few holidays there. Sad, very sad.......
Great card. It’s nice that you can be with your cats since you returned. Take care.
Yana, Thank you for the creation that I know that I can master. Well at least I hope so, and also the cats are so precious and so is your husband. At least for Christmas you will all be together. Thank you again.
I love modern quick cards too. Yours is lovely ❤️. So happy to see the kitties 😻

Your coloring amazes me. Love when you use your polychromos as well.
Fear is what used to stop me but thanks to videos -and generous crafters like you- I learned and practice,
So I think my coloring has gotten better.
Loved this Yana ESPECIALLY seeing your beautiful family of cats. Thanks so much for sharing. You are a *real* person as well as a superb artist.
Thanks for sharing your family photos. From one cat lover to another. Oh, and your card was really nice too.
Love your cats, they are so sweet!! I love your card Yana and I appreciate the time you put into it. X
Love the clean simple card, it's wonderful and your cats are gorgeous!!!
You are a great color teacher, I am learning from you and I appreciate your time. Love love cats!
Love your design! I find that I am enjoying this clean approach you are using now, I will have to try it myself. Thanks for showing us your kitties, I am a cat lover too 😻
the cards are GORGEOUS! love the bold reds!! and your kitties are SO CUTE!!!
Thanks
You are amazing...and so so encouraging! I rarely share my cards...but because of you one day I will do so more often!
Thanks again for another beautiful card. The striped background was perfect for the card and it looked easy to do. Your cats are beautiful too. I have a 13.5 year-old cat and she is the boss. I Love your Coloring. It does make sense to practice doing it. My cards will never be Hallmark Quality. But I will have fun!

Gorgeous colouring Yana! Beautiful cards.
So, so cute Yana! Love this card! Makes me excited for Christmas to come!
Thanks for showing your kitties. They are lovely! I have three black cats happy #caturday

Great card but love the pictures of you and the cats, as I am a cat person also.
I love the stripes! Thanks for your encouragement. I'm insecure with my coloring skills. Guess I need more practice!

Yana, your card is almost as beautiful as your kitties.
So gorgeous Yana. Of course I had to purchase this set since it’s my last name. 😉

My heart goes out to you. I'm so glad your family and their fur babies are safe.
Susan Pezza So sorry to hear of your family’s turmoil.😢 I hope all returns to quasi-normal ASAP!❤️
