I worked at a great hospital for 28 years and before the pandemic, the politicians and our fat governor slashed Medicaid and public health to bare bones. My hours were cut drastically and many staff were fired and laid off. In the ICU we are always short staffed and severely short staffed on the weekends. So now my friends in Hawaii are overwhelmed and working 2-3 shifts in a row, they are flying healthcare staff to help the hospital. My friends are literally putting their lives on the line. This should not happen. Profit over people lives. I moved overseas. In Thailand we have excellent healthcare here, I spent $75 dollars in the 2 years for healthcare. My cobra payment was $600 a month. FU. The expats I know don’t believe me when I tell them the outrageous healthcare cost.. It wasn’t always like that.

And yet people vote against their best interests because it’s been shit their entire lives and they don’t know anything else plus they are brainwashed by far right ideology like Fox News, Breitbart, The Daily Caller, etc. People are obsessed with the divisive issues like abortion and religion which the Republicans claim as their ideology even though women of all parties have abortions and plenty of Democrats believe in God yet the GOP fear mongers people based on these interests to forgo their reasoning and people will shoot off their own foot to belong to this simplified ideology which makes them totally ignore how they are being screwed over economically and civil rights wise.

Yr in yr out the US & UK claim GDP growth, adv tex ... but the reality is that more & more dbl income families are struggling to survive. They cut healthcare, medicare, education & other social equity developments.
So GDP growths & saving from public well being would make a huge fortune. Where was the money go ?

@@lisaeischens2352 100% same in Australia, only we do have differing issues (we don't argue so much about things like abortion and health care and guns), but, people voting against their best interests... Australia does it in spades. Our conservative ex-adman Prime Minister is a Pentecostal who believes in the End Times. He basically let Australia burn (for months and months) and went on holiday to Hawaii while great swathes of Australia was on fire. Some 17 of his cabinet are Pentecostals, meanwhile, they look forward to the Rapture while we're becoming more and more of a police state. We're presently not allowed to travel to some states, and, we cannot travel overseas. When this lot were voted in again, many of us felt like we were at a funeral.

I live on Oahu. My friend is a nurse at Queen's Hospital on Oahu and they are not even at 70% capacity. All this talk about hospitals being overwhelmed in Hawaii is not true. The survival rate is 99.98% and the majority who have died had 2 or more illnesses and were over the age of 80. This is not a pandemic. More people have died from the flu than they have of this virus. Were talking less then 100 in the span of 7 months here!! Millions of people die of TB and it is extremely contagious and our government never bats an eyelash. Our government NEVER cared about its people--ever, if they did we wouldn't be have so much poverty, chronic illnesses, etc.. They wouldn't have allowed pesticides, crappy, no nutrient foods, pharma drugs that causes more harm than good etc.... If they cared they would advocate healthy eating to keep your immune system strong. Our system is all about profits, nothing more.

These statements are misleading and incorrect. China and India are largely dependent upon trade with Europe and the United States. If our economy fails their economy will falter as well. Most companies that export from China into the USA are American companies that manufacture abroad mostly in China. China has begun to compete with us after they stole and copied many of our manufacturing methods and technology. They are also rapidly developing their own technology in an effort to become not only independent but a major global power. That is certainly a problem and hurts our economy however talk of trade deficits is misleading when most companies that manufacture in China and sell in the US are American subsidiaries or multinational corporations with American affiliations. China is importing food because they cannot produce enough food to meet the needs of their burgeoning population. Most Chinese people live in cities and work in factories. There is a growing middle class there but the vast majority of people in China work for low wages in manufacturing plants and production facilities. Most of the grain sold internationally is used to feed live stock, not humans. Capitalism itself is not the reason for the coming food shortages it is overpopulation and climate change primarily. Climate change will cause major disruptions in our food supply chain and distribution due to floods, drought, massive storms and wildfires. Capitalism is not the problem it is human activity, large scale conventional agriculture, industrialism and human development. All of the inherent problems in Capitalism are certainly detrimental to the long term welfare and general well being of any society but communism or socialism will not solve this problem. All these political systems and their respective societies rely on modern supply chains, nuclear power, fossil fuels, massive oil tankers, the shipping industry, automobiles, trucks, trains, rail and roadways, airports, jet travel, air transportation, manufacturing and all manner of industrial activity. All this activity is degrading and polluting our environment and causing climate change. As I write this there are massive wildfires raging in California and Oregon due to years of drought and heat caused by climate change. How soon will it be before we see food prices skyrocket. When local and global food producers are unable to meet market demand because of climate change we will be faced with one of the greatest calamities humanity has ever know. Food shortages will just be the beginning.

    • @michaeljensen4650
      @michaeljensen4650 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Professor Wolf contradicted himself when he said each state should be self sufficient. Then he said we should help the poorer states by sharing the wealth we produce. Even if we were to share the wealth produced in richer states we would still be dependent on modern transportation systems and supply chains to deliver goods, food and materials. People in New Mexico and Arizona live in a desert and would never be able to sustain their respective populations without importing food and many other things that are not available in that part of the country. Mississippi for instance would not be able to grow many types on food because of their climate. These are facts you can not just brush over. Maintaining populations in areas where the food, goods and materials needed require modern transportation and modern supply chains still leaves us in the same predicament. The same is true of many countries around the world. Even if all these things were provided feely we would still be dependent upon a system that is degrading and polluting our environment. All this human activity is causing climate change, severe weather, superstorms, droughts, flooding, wildfires, food shortages, power outages and supply chain disruptions. These events will eventually lead to the mass migration of distressed populations and wars over dwindling resources.

    • @michaeljensen4650
      @michaeljensen4650 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Capitalism has become the scapegoat for all our ills and it certainly has major problems but the real threat to our continued survival is Industrialism. I am not a luddite but if we do not scale back universally we are headed for global disaster.

EVERYTHING he is saying and selling in his own book, has been going on for the past 200 years and has been said in many prior books by many real heroes and experts who sounded the alarm 200 years ago up until the present time. Many of them are already dead and gone and still most people act as if they have never heard of these facts. How many books are there going to be that only a few are going to read like have read and understand for at least the last 60 years of my adult life? I have lived a lifetime of NOT BEING IN DEBT. I have NEVER lived above my income level. I am not one who was in a contest to see who among my associates and so -called friends was the most "successful"! Yet, the fed. reserve fraudulently claimed a liability against me which I had to fight for at least ten years in court and by the time the fight was over, I was left penniless, my homestead disappeared into a private trust of a firm of attorneys who had never practiced law in court but had been doing what they did to many others for years and to me for all their professional lives; I was told this by other attorneys who recognized their names but acted as if NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT! I know I was not the only one this happened to; it happened to millions of other decent Americans all over the country. I knew of at least 350 in one county alone! Mine.
Now, these controlled opposition pundits/authors are telling you we need a different system! What in hell do you think Authors have been saying for 200 years; that I have been saying for at least 60 years! Now a bunch of fools are going to glomp onto the digital currency the US fake private corporate entity which calls itself a government, is proposing! I can see how avidly you fools are waiting in line to get in on the "new" currency system. We won't have a choice. It will be done automaticlly and people will hungrilly use it to feed their families and the system will claim that we have acquiesced (agreed ) to the terms of their so humanitarian and helpful offer; and the terms are we must give up to them every human freedom to which we are entitled for simply having been born onto God's Garden of Eden Planet, Earth. We will be ensnared by the trap set; just like every group of people found on this continent when the invading, marauding English from G.B. swarmed to our shores and from which early Americans believed they had won indepenence from in their hard fought war for Independence...
I never wanted more than my 1200 sq. feet home; but the criminal Establishment (the System, the GOVERNMENT, ETC....WHATEVER HELL ELSE IT IS CALLED decided unilaterally that I did not deserve to own even that! It has decided that none of you deserve to own your own home also; or your children, or the clothes on your back; or your lives!) This country needs to quit buying books by anyone trying to sell one today; there are already many very good ones that cost less which can be bought USED. How many of you dead heads have even read a book since you graduated high school? How many of you are waiting and praying for God to return to the earth to save your sorry asses? How many of you believe if you kiss the right ass, you will be spared? Well, DREAM ON, FOOLS!
What is wrong with you Americans who believe only in those "EXPERTS" shoved in your faces who have watered down versions of perfectly better books already written? Wake the hell up! I can tell you anything you can learn in these newer, watered down versions of the information for FREE. I provide links every day on you tube and get the least likes but the most arguments and insults. Why do you think that is? Do any of you know how to F-----ING -think? Do any of you know anything but how to kiss ass of anyone who calls themselves an expert? What???!!! What is it? There is no virus that is killing people . Whatever it is, is more likely to have come out of a lab owned by or supported by Billionairs like Bill Gates, et al. Wake the HELL UP! I haven't slept for more than 24 hours. Yet I have more energy than most of you drug heads ( prescribed meds included). I am 80+ years old and am younger than some of you who are 40 years old. www.theguardian.com/business/2019/nov/15/food-prices-set-to-rise-in-uk-as-floods-ruin-crops
      Then his year:
      www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/aug/17/uk-facing-worst-wheat-harvest-since-1980s-national-farmers-union-nfu
Everything from carrots to potatoes is down according to farmers union which means more imports which means higher prices. All OK so long as other country's don't have similar simultaneous problems and need more imports themselves, unfortunately that is not the case. Our globalised food system is more fragile than we realise and nations like the UK that are woefully unself sufficient may suffer greatly in the future because of depending on capitalism and a hand full of corporate owners of most of our farms paying farmer peanuts to produce, was always open the systemic shock.

In my experience, outdoors, away from this "idiot box", trying to grow food we're having earlier frosts -- this year our 1st was in late august, so had to harvest curcubits (squash family) early. Summers are hotter & there is a fire approaching, seemingly. So if we're getting early frosts and hot daze during fall (inverse in spring) then when are we supposed to do fall or spring planting? We've never had more information on how to fix things -- Trump even signed onto a Trillion Tree Initiative yet has yet to initiate. We need follow thru. Forests are like the only thing known to stabilize climate, so deforestation is leading us Earthlings into climate chaos. China turned its military to plant a Great Green Wall of China (billions of trees) vs. desertification. Africa has it's Green Belt Movement, have planted billions as well. Tho it seems we need to clear forests for the sun exposure needed to grow food, on a grand scale we need forests, at least close by, to grow food without the kind of irrigation set up that steals water from afar, ahem! Plus growing microalgae in desertified regions is better, as that is the fastest growing plant known, so faster at both making oxygen & sequestering carbon. Plus if kept cool can become lipid heavy. These oils can benefit people, animals, used for motor fuel etc. Like i said much & i pray enuf is known, we just need follow thru. Ending petroleum use is integral too. So is no-till Regenerative Agriculture, including Food Forests.

Early Sept 2013 the US delegates was told: "Step aside when you can't lead" by the Ireland delegate at the Jakarta conference on Earth Environment.
The US has isolating itself further from the rest of the world not only on the Climate Change but also on an array of issues. Washing has made mistakes upon mistakes since.
Indeed the capitalists have eaten themselves to the pending collapse.
Sun Tzu: We won because they'd made mistakes. We lost because we'd made mistakes.
The first serious mistake the US made was the Vietnam war. The war exhausted the Treasury wealth to the point that the French took their Bullion Gold out of New York for suspecting the Fed over printed the US Dollars. Afraid the other nations follow the French, 15 Aug. 1971 the then POTUS Richard Nixon declared that the USD divorced from Gold & all other Treasury Assets. The $34 /Once Gold price that had been maintained so well from 1944 Brett Wood Convention to 1971 was rapidly changed for worse ever since.
However, the USD was too mighty to fail. The Western Europe & Japan bailed the US out. China shared the USD burden later. In fact China bore the heaviest burden of the USD since the 2008 GFC.
Nowadays, both the EU, China & many are sick of the USD tyranny. Most decided to dump it. The USD won't collapse overnight, but it will eventually. Maybe in 4-ish yrs time.

The real sickness is organizational psychopath, which is a predictable consequence of a combination of:
    1) The cultural veneration of greed by economists fooled by free market fairytales.
    2) The disappearance of shame about the exploitation of legal loopholes and technicalities.
    3) corporate culture that deter responsible and reward antisocial behaviors among managers.
    4) A hands off economic policy that extremely undervalues the lives, health and economic worth of employees/consumers/inhabitants.
    5) Divisive politicians, media, class structures and ideologies, that serve the divide and conquer mentality of psychopaths.
    6) A weak willed populus that refuses to risk its comfort and is incapable of drawing a definitive line/think outside the box/stand up to bullies/ deviate from the group/etc etc.
    7) Governments unwilling to defend its subjects or impotent to do so.
    8) Corporate structures that concentrate true psychopaths in the higher management positions.
    9) Management feels responsibility towards stockholders/directors/higher management more strongly that their responsibility towards its assigned employees.
Remedy any number of these and the societal rot will reduce, the issue is much more nuanced than just "capitalism is bad"...

Agro business is the main propaganda of the Bolsonaro government. The agro sharks managed to deregulate strategic food stocks run by government in the past. Nowadays the neoliberal agenda leaves the poor totally in the hands of crook investors. There lack of rice, man! Rice!!!! The price is so high the government is emergently lowering to zero all taxes on rice and is going to start importing. My god, Brazil importing food is the proof that humanity has to avoid capitalism. It's not working anymore. This shit needs to be changed. Enough of misery!

You make a product and if I don't' like it I don't need to buy it. If I think you're greedy then I stop buying that product. During the rice to ethanol craze of 2004-7 where a large amount of rice was bought to make cheap fuel, China opened its national reserve to prevent starvation in countries like India. At the time, they had a reserve of about twice total amount of rice traded on the world market in reserve.
