- Disclaimer: The purpose of this video is to help my fellow Australian Flight Sim friends decide whether MSFS 2024 is the product for them by offering a glimpse into the new updated graphics. The build of MSFS 2024 in which I am using to compare graphics with is a TECH ALPHA build. This means that what you see may not reflect the final product of the game. Moreover, satellite imagery is not available in MSFS 2024 as of it so please take it with a grain of salt.
I tried my best to replicate the same settings across both simulators with a mix of ULTRA and VERY HIGH settings. There may be some discrepancies across though.
Despite MSFS 2024 lacking satellite imagery, it is evident that the environment and graphics, especially lighting, has had significant improvements over MSFS 2020. The performance across both sims have been quite similar for me. Furthermore, loading times in MSFS 2024 has been significantly faster.

Why are all your shots of MSFS2020 in close so we can see details, but all the shots of 2024 are up high and you can't see the différance?
all the testers said that they don't have photogrammetry yet. But I can tell that the building is cleaner and better. You can do your own test right now with 2020 turn off Photogrammetry to see for yourself how the building look. So, in short: 2020 has photogrammetry, 2024 doesn't (yet); the height map is higher res in 2024. Is that the whole point of this video?

The only thing you can tell is much improved is lighting & atmospheric scattering. For that alone it's going to be great.

The main Question for me is: did 2024 need a faster Internet as 2020, because it works with more Streamingdata?!
I living in a small town & and Internet isn't the fastest here. 2020 is okay, but my Internet have (Speed-)Limits😅🖖
I think many people have this problems...
Personally, for me, it was around the same, but I do believe it might require internet that's a touch faster than MSFS2020. Not too sure though!

I think this might be a big issue for FS2024. Perhaps they will add the ability to download and cache areas you want to prioritise, and subsequently only update changes 'on the fly'?

Yeah, unfortunately it’s a Alpha build only so it might look better on release. Fingers crossed
Unfortunately yeah, alpha build is WIP but I will update if photogrammetry becomes available!
It's an alpha build from months to maybe a year+ ago, they are now testing the online infrastructure with this build. This is done on purpose so that the servers are tested in certain fields, so most graphics that are streamed are turned off and many other graphical features. The official release will look a lot better!

This is a silly comparison. I know you're an Aussie but to show Australian cities when the World Updates haven't been added to the MSFS 2024 version yet just seems a complete waste of time.
The main intent was just to showcase the lighting and possible changes to topography/imagery :) Appreciate the feedback though!

There were only two things that really annoyed me in 2020, clouds and shadows. It looks like they have greatly improved those, so as long as everything else works at least as good as 2020 I will be happy.

Finally! Some does a graphics comparison! Haven't seen the full video yet, but I can't wait to see!
Update: I wanted to see the street level view in MSFS 2024, but massive improvements compared to 2020! Thanks for the video!
