    NOTE - When used in Landscape Mode with a Raspberry Pi in I would steer you clear of using it as a mini retro game player or HD video player as the screen tearing that only occurs in this orientation will be no fun.
    UPDATE - I can confirm No Screen Tearing in any orientation when using Ubuntu Desktop 21.10 with a Raspberry Pi Single Board Computer.

    I have set this up with a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B but you can definitely use this screen with earlier version of Raspberry Pi Board going through the same process shown here. AMOLED screens have higher contrast, wider colour gamut, and wider viewing angles when compared with an LCD equivalent. This is why this 5.5inch 1920x1080 screen for Raspberry Pi provides such an elegant visual experience. Sporting a toughened glass capacitive touch panel (boasting a 6H hardness), 5 points of simultaneous inputs, a 3.5mm audio jack supporting the better HDMI audio output, and a micro-USB connection to power both the screen and Raspberry Pi simultaneously it all makes this screen a formidable front runner. Oh and did I mention it provides mounting points on the back for any previous generation of Raspberry Pi. So come learn how to set one up, tweak it so it performs the best, add rad screen savers, check out great use cases for it and download the free 3D printed case I made specially for it. Big shout out to MKChung22 as I based a lot of the case I made from his original design. Its time to take full advantage of this compact nugget of practical computing power in its most beautiful evolution yet.

      Heyya 😊 big thanks. It depends really on how pretty/form factor that you want the LCD display to be. The official 7 Inch Touchscreen Display would be a great choice - core-electronics.com.au/catalog/product/view/sku/CE04459

      Short press to turn on or off the display, long press to adjust the brightness, and the brightness is divided into five levels. That's what it does 😊

    Is there an alternative for the big power plug? That would be a pain in the ass when mounting.

    • @Core-Electronics
      @Core-Electronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the USB-C or USB-Micro (on the screen) to power the set-up, just so long as you get enough power to the system it'll be happy. A POE HAT is also an option (then all you need is a powered Ethernet cord).
      As a note, I wouldn't recommend powering this system through the GPIO Pins as they won't allow enough current in for the system.

    So I have the Raspberry Pi 4B and am looking to blend the video looper configuration with the 3.5lcd or a 4in hdmi lcd. Is there a specific order I should configure the systems?

    • @Core-Electronics
      @Core-Electronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd start with setting up the Hardware and getting your preferred screen all up and running. From there go through the Video Looper process - core-electronics.com.au/tutorials/raspberry-pi-video-looper.html
      We found the current Video Looping System wont work with Screen that receive the video data through GPIO pins. So long as your using a HDMI port to transmit the video you should be sweet.

    • @Core-Electronics

      Not on that specific HDMI but you'll find a lot of what happens in the above video will correlate when your setting it up. Altering the | config.txt | is a common process for all these types of screens.
      Good Luck!

    Any advances on the screentearing issue? I've read that it doesn't have that issue on windows. I'm itching to get it, but I would like to know why it's not meshing well with the rpi. Maybe it's just the hdmi connector?

    • @Core-Electronics
      @Core-Electronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is Window based machines and Jetson Nano have no issue with screen-tearing in any orientation. I have tried this with different HDMI Connectors and still found there to be tearing in landscape mode.

    Could one use these little screens without the help from a RaspberryPI. For example plug in the screen with its power source into an output from a Camera for a display.

      I've been doing research on this and apparently, you can, but I'm still looking to see if one can dim it directly, since it has a DDC/CI monitor control without the need of external source like a raspberry pi, but I'm not sure on the language so the search continues.

    I am new to raspberry pi sorry if my question is a bit dumb. Is it possible to use the raspberry pi with the touch screen display only(with the power supply) with a camera? With no use of a pc or laptop

    • @Core-Electronics
      @Core-Electronics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely you can 😊 the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is a Full On single board Computer. You can definitely hook up a screen and a camera to it no problem. The only time you might need a PC or Laptop is when you are flashing a new Micro-SD card that will end up the brain for your single board raspberry pi computer. We also sell already flashed cards so you wont even need to touch another computer if you go down that route - core-electronics.com.au/16gb-microsd-card-with-noobs-for-all-raspberry-pi-boards.html

    • @Core-Electronics

      Honestly no, some full sized monitors that are meant for Landscape can be flickery in portrait and thats normally a driver issue. So I reckon that is what the situation is here.
