Good morning everyone. Today’s video is a requested video so for those of you who asked for this I hope you enjoy it.
A few additional notes to add to what is in the video:
- All styles/colours are linked in the description box below the video.
- Most of my Trainer collection was bought #SecondHandButGrand and I highly recommend looking on sites like Vinted, Depop, eBay etc as you can often find some cool colour ways and some bargains.
- I really look after my belongings and my trainers in particular as I like them looking fresh and not ‘worn in’. I’ll be doing a full video on how I care for my trainers and how I keep them looking fresh so stay tuned for that over the coming weeks.
- Yes, I do wear all of these trainers. I have no unworn trainers. All my trainers are bought to wear and not just to look at/as a collectable. Not that there’s anything wrong with that if that’s a passion or investment of yours. As I keep my trainers in such good condition I am able to sell any that I find I haven’t worn in over a year so that’s why there may be some that you might have seen in older videos, that I no longer have. Another bonus of looking after your things, you get more money for them if you sell them in excellent condition, I even made money on some of mine.

I think it's been a while since you've done a wardrobe "maintenance" video--one on your trainers/sportswear, including replacement strategies, would be interesting. Also, a "they're not just for exercise--how to wear your trainers with style" content could be a good complement (a summer "sporty/comfort with style" series?)...
I rediscovered Converse sneakers. Had a pair, but only wore them for strength training but have since found that it literally fits under pretty much everything. At almost 30, I finally saw their potential 😂

I wear Converse in various colors since I was 10 years old and still do at 65! Still very cool and the longevity equals that of jeans!

I’ve only just started to grow my collection of trainers and so happy to have come across this video. I used to think a pair of white flat trainers and runners were sufficient. But somewhere my light switched and I’m now on a journey to exploring different trainers and stumbled on this video - so happy to see a couple of my choices make Emma’s cut!

I always get loads of inspiration from your videos and particularly appreciate the fact that you talk about buying from pre-loved sites quite a bit. So helpful, thanks Emma! I have the Veja Campos and I really loved them. True to size for a 41. I recently got the NB 327 and am absolutely in love with them. Stuffed up the sizing slightly when I ordered so they’re 1/2 size too big but I can make it work. Tempted to buy another pair as my workout sneakers. Saddest thing is I can’t wear trainers to work or I’d be a very happy girl.

Those first two are your vibe (well hell you have the 550s), these 2 are in my mind for when I want some calmed in my outfits, the MM are very minimal , have no logo or nothing in which the 550 do have that , to a minimum but they have it. First i was thinking for a long long time at the Veja nova but I really want 1 pair that has nothing then a cool design in the leather they use & the color_shades. They are bit to expensive (and its not that they have to be from MM but for the specifics that i want🤷🏻♀️) for me but bit of saving

But I love color & prints & to get that in sneakers is my favorite way to inject that in my outfits & also the lazy way of doing so.

A tip I will share is to know the length of your foot, because trainers can run low or high in size, and one thing you don't want is trainers that pinch your feet.
So for instance I know that a trainer in 24,5 cm is perfect for my feet.
In Nike that will usually mean a size EU 38, but in Asics (which I'm obsessed with) I will need an EU 39.
But I will always be able to find the cm in the tongue.
...maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but it was a tip I could have used 5 years ago when I would buy a size 38 every time thinking that if they pinched, they just needed to be stretched.
Don't fall for that! 🙈

You have an amazing trainer collection Emma! Love my 574’s, I have 3 pairs they’re so comfortable. There was an 878 style that came out in a neutral colour way that I wanted and should have bought as now they’re sold out everywhere 🙈. Old Converse used to kill my feet but the Chuck 70’s are much more premium and a pleasure not pain to wear! I was worried the thicker footbed and bigger toe box would make them look too platform but they are just perfect, well worth the slightly higher price tag. I love my Veja V10 and didn’t have a problem with the tongue but would like to add a Campo pair for a slightly less chunky smarter option. Thanks for the in-depth video, it’s always helpful to see the different styles up close and how you would pair them with your outfits 😘
I'm debating between getting a Veja or ON for basic flat sneakers. I don't love the Veja logo but the rebuews on it makes me want to try

I have plantar fascitis on both feet, so I have to wear special soles all the time ; for this reason I also wear only trainers, and my absolute favourite are the new Balance 327 and 530.
I love their style, they go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe (quite similar as yours).
I size up to be able to fit my soles inside them, and since I've started to wear only this combo (soles + NB), my feet don't hurt any more.
I couldn't agree more with you on the NB 574s, the most most most beautiful and comfortable trainers ❤, and they are also very durable, I have had one of those for 10+ years when finally decided to get rid of them. My collection is missing a Veja and thank you very much for the tip as I couldn't really figure out which one I like the most (I want one with a lighter V, that's one detail I was sure of 😄).
I have one pair of Veja Campo in this elegant cream version and I wear them a loooot! I have also the beige 70's Converse (both the Veja and the Converse happily influenced by you, Emma... 😁) and one black pair of the simple Converse high top. I love both but a bit more the simple, very common Converse. But they are both not that versatile so I really want to add some new trainers and now I am really in love with the range of New Balance. I am happy to say that I have no foot issues except I have to size up and sometimes my second and longest toe means, one size is not enough but the rest of my narrow foot means, yes, one size is really enough! 😂 The Campo love my feet and my running shoes are from Nike. So I am fine with all of these brands and will surely try a preloved pair of New Balance 574 or the 327! The sole looks amazing! Thanks for this very helpful inspiration Emma! I am also a fan of all these neutrals and black. Best colour range!

I ordered just now the fresh foam v4 as i want this pair for my power walking. luckly i got a great deal on asos.

Really enjoyed this! I live in sneakers most days! My favorite are Chuck Taylors because of their versatility. In the last few years I've akso gravitated towrards Vans, particularly the slip-on style. I also love Jordans but the price point is crazy high so I only have a few pairs.

My new good finding for sneakers is Moonstar from Japan. It's 810s series became quite popular in these five years with their minimalistic looks and reasonable price point. My point fingers on toes are the tallest so I have to be picky for the shoe shape.

I’ve been trying to find the NB trainer in the deep green color, it seems almost impossible here in Canada, but I’ll keep trying - love NB also just bought a pair of Hoka they’re really comfy too.
I invested in a pair of Lacostes and really love them. They don't make my feet look too wide, I have very broad ,small feet, and I can style them with pretty much anything. They are white/beige with a rose gold croc.
Yes! I actually read through the comments to see if anyone mentioned Lacoste - they are SO comfortable! I also agree that they can work with most outfits, I even wear them to work sometimes. For comfort, you can't beat Lacoste or Keds but I find that Keds lean casual whereas Lacoste look smarter. :)
Been a classic converse all star fan / wearer since my teens but had to sell all my prs as found them uncomfortable and heavy due to medical issues (neuropathy) with my feet from cancer treatments in my later 40's . But glad to say I discovered Converse Cons which are so much more lightweight and have padding at the back of the heel for a bit of comfort so fit my feet better and can still wear my much loved trainer ....... and were all pre loved finds x

I love those black and white Veja 😍 I'm seriously considering buying a pair, but there are so many pretty trainers out there, it's always so hard to chose. I have the Nike Internationalist, but in black and they are hard to clean and keep clean too. The black suede looks old very fast. I found them comfy when I bought them, so I thought they would be a good pair of everyday shoes, but no, they're too high maintenance. My everyday sneakers right now are a pair of black Puma with a bit of a chunky sole, they're comfy and easy to clean, and I got them on sale 😊I never used to like black sneakers but since a couple of years, I started to wear black sneakers with white sole, and I love them with an all black outfit. I still wear my Stan Smith all the time though, especially during summer, they're my favourite to wear with shorts.

My daughter and I love the NB 327 because they elongate our legs with a “pointed” toe design. Great video as always!
Maybe that was what I got in my last pair, I had to return them because the toes were far too narrow. Most other buyers did, too, where I live. I always size up two full US sizes in NB, they run very small. Most British people seem to have longer, narrower feet than we do it the US, mine are really short (size 36.5 EU and a bit wide at the toes.
Thank you for your very detailed review Emma! I personally love the 327's. Am obsessed with them. I bought a pair of the white with pink from last year that sold out asap. I got so many compliments on them. It was a bit strange at first, I'm like, what's the big deal? Even guys were coming up to me saying 'I love your sneakers'! I immediately wanted to buy a back up pair but shortly after I got mine, they were sold out everywhere I looked. Then one day I went on the New Balance website and saw they re-released them (last Christmas time) so I finally got my back up pair. I also have the grey and white similar to yours. I have wide feet and these are the only sneakers I can wear all day and not get tired. I love the wide bottom of the shoe as it provides a lot of stability for me. I'm only buying 327's from now on. Plus, I actually think they're quite fashionable at the same time!! Now after watching this, I'm going to see what new colors are available. I like the more muted colors. I don't mind paying full price for them either. I highly recommend them!!

Thank you for your thorough review of your amazing trainers collection. I don't own any NB these days, but I'm interested in investing in a pair. I usually wear my adidas superstars, as my daily go-to. I also have converse 70s, and I agree with your review. I own a few Nikes, and have found them comfortable enough. But I guess it depends on your feet.
I remember in one of your videos when you mentioned about your SIL had those NIKE’s on and you said something like: your Neutral Radar was going off. Lol. I thought that was so funny. I have a neutral color radar too.

I have, as maybe more people than I realize (I tend to feel like everyone else can just buy whatever shoe they like and have no issue), very particular challenges when it comes to pairing my feet with shoes. I have very long toes. It took my entire adult life til now to realize that this was the main culprit in my ongoing saga with finding shoes that were genuinely comfortable. Shoes are made for average feet proportions so the distance from the toe box to the instep to the heel are based on these averages. Because my toes are so long it throws all those bits off. If I buy a pair to accommodate my toes, the arches are in the wrong place and so is the heel. If I buy them so the arches fit perfectly, my toes end up smashing against the edge of the toe box. As well, my heel shape means I need a very particular heel shape to the shoe. Add to that, my skin is particularly susceptible to blistering. The toe end of my feet are more on the wide side, but I have very thin ankles and from the arch to heel is quite narrow. Augh. It’s a bit of a headache. I’m just no longer willing to be uncomfortable in my shoes so I, too, have slowly swapped out the majority of my footwear for athletic shoes. I also love New Balance. The fact that they have so many options that do not have all that heavily moulded arch support stuff (which ends up being a literal torture device for me) and have a reasonable width to them and I don’t know what it is they do with the heels but they are perfect. I never ever get painfully cramped, bruised toes, my arches are not in pain, and my heels aren’t blistered all to heck. I love that its so easy to find options with leather and suede for a quite reasonable price when compared to those options in the other big name athletic wear brands. And their laces are magical. I do like the adidas superstar because they also have no arch support and the heel works very well for me as you can adjust the lacing to make them more snug over the topside of your foot to keep them from slipping off. I learned that this was the important aspect when you’re someone who has issues around the heels - as in if you maybe need a half size larger to accommodate your toes but then the heel gets slippy, you need a pair that allows you to get that vamp snug enough to hold the shoe onto your foot without being so tight it causes discomfort which has everything to do with how the tongue and lacing is constructed. You need lacing options that don’t stop at the top of the tongue but continue on towards either side opposite the tongue ( think about loafers - If you have an issue with heels slipping off, you need a loafer with a higher and slightly snugger vamp so the shoe doesn’t flop off. Often people go for a smaller size and end up with wrecked ankles when what they need is a different vamp construction. You can also get inserts designed for the vamp or re purpose regular insoles to add padding to the vamp). I give all that detail on the off chance that anyone out there has similar foot issues to mine and have likewise struggled to figure out what to look for in a shoe. I love that you are a sneaker lover, Emma. It’s fantastic to have style inspiration from someone who always looks polished and sophisticated who also demands comfort for her feet. ❤

I find your shoe videos really helpful since we the same size feet. I'm also conscious of how big a shoe makes my foot appear. I really have gotten on well with the 237s, but I sized up to a UK 8.5 because I found the toe box a bit small. Unfortunately New Balance doesn't seem to have many 237s color options. I'm also a Veja fan, and literally wore my Esplars until they fell apart. Looking to try the Campos next!

Hi 👋 I’m a huge New Balance fan as well. My collection includes 2002R, 990USA, 991UK, and a smattering of other New Balance styles. I cannot get over the gorgeous colourways, suede mix etc of the above mentioned styles. I’ve only had one pair of New Balance 574 (classic white) but seeing your adorable creamy taupe pair are making me revisit 🤔😍😅

When New Balance work for folks they end up with very loyal customers. I have what is considered a low volume foot (thin from top of the foot to the sole) with a narrow heel, so I can lace up a shoe and step right out of it. My go to for years have been converse chucks low top, but as I get older I want a little more cushion. I personally love Brooks Ghost line for puttering about or heavy walking days (although they change the fit every year leaving someone unhappy along the way). I have recently discovered Cariuma which is a sustainable brand targeting skateboarders. I have several pairs of their leather Salvas model which has a cork insole and I LOVE them. Hope this helps.

I realllly struggle with any footwear as like Emma has mentioned she also has an issue with, I have skinny ankles and legs so a lot of footwear can end up looking ridiculous on me. It’s so difficult to find any that fit nice x

Do you already know the NB 574ZAA? I just got a pair of grey ones this week and I love them! They have a chunky sole so I was hesitant at first (also a size 8, so I know the “clown feet problem”) but they somehow make my feet look smaller and they are so comfortable!

As a podiatrist, I am a huge fan of New Balance trainers. I highly recommend the New Balance 1080 series for anyone with arthritis in their big toes 😊👍😊

@@nataliasanzcolection for plantar fasciitis, I'd recommend any shoe or trainer with a good arch support, a semi rigid midsole and a very cushioned heel. Most running shoes would be suitable, or you could try an insole to do the same thing 😊👍😘

Hi Emma, I have the same grey pair of NB 990 and they are the most supportive/comfortable sneakers I've ever had. Also love the 574. You gave me some new ideas! My experience with the Vejas was disappointing. I love the look so so much but couldn't find one (Campo, Esplar) that fit correctly. They also felt so flat and unsupportive. I have the same situation as you with the very skinny legs/ankles and not tiny feet. I am very familiar with this challenge! 🤣

Emma, typically, I notice black is your favorite color. But most of your sneakers are white. Do you have a hard time finding good lookimg black sneakers? Also, why do you think most sneakers have white sole? While most shoes have black soles?

Hi Emma. I no longer wear Converse although I am a fan. However, there’s no support for me and they’re just not comfortable for me anymore. For the last 5 years I have found Skechers suit my feet and with the memory foam, they are really lightweight and soooo comfortable. I don’t really look at any other brands and like you, once you find the trainers that suit your needs, you usually stick with them! 💖🌸
My friend loves Sketchers! She says they’re so comfortable 🙌🏼

My favorite is 327. Got it because it has a Loewe trainers vibe, loved it because it is so comfortable. My feet are not skinny and I was quite worried in the beginning (because of the shape of the shoe), but in the end it fits so well and it's so light weighted!

I’m like you in that I don’t find Nikes fit very well. I want Air Force 1s because they’re adorable but they don’t actually fit my feet well 😐 I think my only pair of Nikes are the Air Max 97 Swarovski gold but that’s it for Nike! Outside of New Balance, I’d go for ASICS, Hoka, Adidas, Yeezys, Maison Margiela replica and finally, Common Projects achilles low 😁

In all my NB’s I’ve gone up by 1/2 a size. That’s just how I find the brand in general fits x

When it comes to ‘fashion trainers’ I have tried a few over the years, I had a pair of golden goose but they weren’t with me for long, I found them soooo uncomfortable, and I had a pair of Gucci Ace trainers but I sold those after a decent amount of wear. I now stick to sports brands as they’re just the most comfortable and are designed for comfort/practicality/function rather than fashion x

Nope I haven’t, I don’t like the look of the logo on the side, it’s a bit ‘Superga’ for me.

I believe Jobs was a fan of the 992 not 990 they have got similar silhouette but not the same shoe

My last pair of New Balance had to be returned because they have decided to narrow the toe tip, weirdly. I always have to order a full two (US) sizes up in this brand, which is annoying, and the returned pair was in this huge size, too. They really skimp on materials. I hope they’re not doing this will all their styles, it makes them unwearable for me. I’m looking for another brand that fits better and gives more arch support.
