    Just so you know, the only reason why Piranha is still part of James Cameron's official filmography is because the law forced the actual director (the producer of the film) to put the name of a director under contract in the project as such. But James Cameron didn't shoot much of the film (he lasted very little) and the majority of the directing, editing and all of that was actually done by the producer after firing James Cameron from the project. So his first film that is actually his first film from start to finish is The Terminator, not Piranha.
    It's a similar case to what happened with Zack Snyder and Justice League with Joss Whedon. No matter what version you feel it's best, the theatrical version had Snyder's name as director but most of the footage was of reshoots from Whedon. The name had to stay because the law specifically forced it to be that way. But the film is not what Snyder had been creating.

      I reall would like to know which scenes were directed by him. I zapped through that film and found some areas which were very james camerony but you never can be sure and I guess he will never tell.

    Cameron reportedly hates the word motion capture. He prefers the word "performance capture"

    I ended up liking Avatar 2 more than I anticipated. Its amazing to see a glimpse of how cameron evolved in his passiom for VFXs.

    “..to create a magical cinematic world.” Hard cut to a shot of a toy helicopter falling into a paddling pool.

    Adjusted for inflation Piranha 2’s budget equates to just over $2M in 2023.
    Terminator 2’s budget adjusted for inflation equates to $14.2M in 2023.

    People shouldn't blame TIM MILLER for the failure of "Terminator: Dark Fate"
    He was the director, not the writer
    Killing that one character was James Cameron's idea

    • @JT-cx2ev
      @JT-cx2ev 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Killing that character was NOT the problem with that movie. Miller is responsible for making the movie unexciting and dull.

      @@JT-cx2ev That would be Genesys
      At least Miller wasn't acting as a director for hire like Alan Taylor

      @@Zombiesnyder13 Just because that had worse directing doesn't mean Dark Fate was executed much better. He made it look like a bland Marvel movie with cheap over the top action.

    I think Cameron's Avatar and Titanic were very forced. IMO true film is about the director's expression instead of the audience's reception. Titanic felt that James Cameron just wanted to make a Titanic documentary but he forcefully added the R+J storyline (it was a decent film, but not great). Avatar was like a 3D performance capture show-off. Cameron's true direction can only be shown in T1, T2 or the Abyss, films that he wanted to make.

      That didn't mean that I didn't like his films. Just that they felt forced

    Titanic ruined James Cameron. The success of that filmed ruined James Cameron. No terminator 3 (However there rights problems so that gets a pass). No true lies 2 or any other film he could've directed.
