    A wonderful reenactment like those I witnessed in person while growing up in Bucks County, PA. An amazing, inspiring video, and a reminder of what some of our earliest patriots endured during the formative years of our country.

    My husband's 5x great grandfather was one of the Hessian soldiers caught by surprise at the Battle of Trenton on Christmas 1776.
    He was one of the 900 Hessians captured. He is still listed in Germany in their archives as a #12: deserted to enemy forces.
    He realized he was no match for a people starving and outnumbered yet willing to cross a frozen river on Christmas to kill Hessians in their sleep! 😄
    He switched sides, became an American citizen, and the rest as they say, is history.

    • @MFPhoto1
      @MFPhoto1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I understand many Hessians stayed. Land was cheap and skilled labor was highly prized. Many did join Washington's army. They were impressed by his win at Trenton.

    Great job! I can't imagine what it was really like, with the water rising from the ice dam during a winter Nor'easter, at night blowing sleet and rain, malnutrition, disease, and illness ... real heroes. Where would the world be without these brave men and women who fought to have what we have today and so easily take for granted. Thank you!

    Definitely steeped in the lore of this region. Right in our own backyard so to speak. Makes it easier to imagine what Washington and his troops faced that night when one knows the landmarks so well.

    My grandfather told me joke about the crossing.
    He asks do you know what Washington said to his troops before they crossed the Delaware River? Washington said "into the boats boys."
    Then he asks do you know what Washington said when he got into the boat. Washington said "now who took my damn seat." 😂

    Nice video. I served in Vietnam with the 14th infantry regiment. Col glover was one of general washingtons right hand men. Not only did the 14th man the boats for the attack on Trenton, later in the war glover was asked to form the 1st navy, maned by troopers of the 14th. From them also came the marines that manned the guns on those first ships. Any one who cares to read about this proud history of our country, it’s on our web site. Google 14th infantry, “golden dragons”. “Right of the line!”

    Dislike for unconstitutional masks

    • @georgem7965
      @georgem7965 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nothing at all unconstitutional about necessary public health measures. In 1905 the US Supreme Court ruled, and it is still good law, that a mandatory smallpox vaccination did not unduly infringe on a person's constitutional rights. Having to wear a mask is much less intrusive than a smallpox vaccination. This is no more restrictive to personal liberty than having to obey a speed limit, wearing a seat belt, or having to obey any other law that protects both the individual and the community. With every right comes a responsibility.

      @@christafarion9 Dear Christopher: Probably not. I have loved this country all my life and have put it on the line to defend it. 50 years ago I was leading an Infantry Platoon in Viet Nam. I have spent most of my subsequent life in public service. What have you done? Can you give me a reasoned argument of why I may be in legal error? Or is name calling all you've got?

    • @christafarion9
      @christafarion9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@georgem7965 Dear George: You sound like someone who follows orders and doesn't think for himself to me. Your Vietnam comment cements that view for me. I'm not going to argue with you. If you think this is all good and ay-ok, then I'll see you on the other side in the coming civil war. So sorry to inform you: this isn't going away, we're not going to surrender. If you can't bring yourself to fight for freedom, you're nor worth the breath. Enjoy your muzzle, and your place in history next to Hitler and Mao. We will roll over you, and your past military accomplishments will count for nothing. 2A's gonna knock your teeth out.
