    Wow you really take radioactive measurements to a whole new level . The only family trips I took as a kid were to go fishing or hunting out here in Western Canada where I live .
    Your kids will have great stories to tell their kids about how Grandpa and Grandma took them “ Geiger counting” ☝️

    There is a setting for particle clicks in the application settings under phone signals but is turned off by default. They even list a way to change the sound to something more preferred in tone/sharpness. Though to your point it is emulated not a direct click transmission.

    Hey Mr 326
    This is one of my favoufote videos of the channel. Loved the idea of a familly trip to an abandoned ufanium mine armed with several radiation detectors.
    Do you mind if I ask a question?
    After seeing your videos and other videos on YT, I have purchased a Radiacode 102 (wildly popular). I''m enjoying it a lot but I would like to conduct some experimengs.
    I'm thinking on getting from AliExpress a small uranium glass (from one of those energy pendants) and one of those other thorium energy pendants.
    These are suposed to be very low radioactive sources. I was planning to put them in plastic bags, handle them with care and store them inside one of those small safes that you use for cash as a kid.
    Do you think I will be fine? Do I need to lood for a lead box?
    BTW, I suposse you already know, but now you can hear the tic sounds made by the radiacode in your wireless headphones. Such a nice device.
    Thanks for the video and have a nice weekend.

      its and awesomely fun piece of music that correctly describes the subtle chaos of that theme park. Whoever paid to have that thing built in the middle of nowhere (this place is seriously "off-grid"), four years ago has lost a serious amount of cash, but the firework display still happens every night.
      The 2 days that we visited, even on the Saturday, where there were more guests, the staff outnumbered the guests at least 3 to 1. When my kids found a ride that they liked, they just stayed on it until they were literally bored if it. My youngest did the log flume at least 12 times, without getting off the ride.
      I guess you have to admire that part, the show must go on...

    some UFO landing sites were described to show increased radioactivity but measurements were always done with GM counter. Do you think that isotopes identification may provide much more information if radiation comes from common isotopes or unknown?

      @@project-326 yes exactly, maybe you heard about the traces of Die Glocke in Poland, what was considered to be an antigravity or time machine, that used highly radioactive substance so called xerum 525, but which was never explained what it is. However the polish author Igor Witkovsky has found containers that may still contain activity. It was as described like liquid mercury in purple colour, but mercury does not have radioactive isotopes, so that adds to curiosity. The same devices crashed in Kecksburg in USA, and radioactive traces were found, all the relevant flight controls have confirmed incoming object on radar.

      @@project-326 The ore i found does not react to UV-light. Could be that it is black uranite, or the the activity is from some thorium mineral. It is definitely also some K40 in the ore but not enough to explain all the activity (i think).
      I walk back and forth wherever i can find exposed rock in the forest at home outside Stockholm, Sweden. It seems like there are "hotspots" with significantly higher radiation. The maximum activity of ore i could bring home is about 20 uSv. I found some spots with up to 50 uSv but it is on solid, granite, mountain-sides and i only had a rock-hammer....

    • @project-326
      @project-326  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Woah, I just looked at the DT9501, that thing costs $450 USD here in China. That is a lot of money for a GM tube based device! There aren't a great deal of use cases where a pure alpha detector would be better than a gamma ray spectrometer, such as the KC761 or the RC103. Almost all alpha sources have a decay chain that also includes a gamma ray fingerprint that would allow the user to mostly figure the isotope. One of the very few substances that this device could detect that a gamma ray spectrometer could not detect is polonium 210 which decays directly to a stable form of lead via an alpha decay. Unless you have seriously pissed of Mr Putin, you are not too likely to come across Po-210?

    • @project-326
      @project-326  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just looked at the specs for that device (cem-instruments.in/pdf/DT-9501.pdf). The only reason to spend this kind of money is if you are really interested in making alpha particle measurements, but the spec says that this tube only starts to detect alpha particles around 4MeV. Most alphas sources emit at around the 4 to 6 MeV level, but this really quickly falls off due to the loss of energy through the air. Normally, a couple of cm of is enough to block alpha.
      What this means is that this tube will NOT detect alphas from a source such as Am241 after even a few mm of air, the energy will be below the detection energy of the tube.
      You will get the gamma energy picked up by the tube from an Am241 source but I am willing to bet that if you placed the device 1cm from a source and then placed a sheet of paper between them, you would not notice much of a count rate reduction.
      I do own another type of instrument from this Indian brand, a hot-wire anemometer. its really not that great as a product IMHO. I have repaired it once already.

      Sorry to have taken so long to reply. I have seen some comments elsewhere that some firmware versions of the GC-01 has some bugs that cause weird stuff to happen. Perhaps take a look at my latest video, there is a firmware upgrade available from a 3rd party developer. Regarding the HFS-10, I also did a recent review of this device, the HH442 is a terrible tube and the firmware is kind of faking the background results. I kind of assume that the dose rates that you mention for background in your message are 0.23 and 0.12 uSv/h respectively? I really hope so!
