Totally false. Get yourself properly educated. My father who is a non-Igbo was given land by allocation by his inlaws to do whatever he wanted. That land now houses a farm estate I built. If Igbos did not sell land to outsiders, I would not have that property today.
Dr. Albati's statement sparked a defensive reaction from many Igbos, indicating that his words resonated. The high cost of land in the region suggests that some landowners are hesitant to sell. Additionally, some families have laws against selling land to outsiders, which also rings true. While generalizations can be misleading, Dr. Albati's quote from someone else adds weight to his argument. Interestingly, he also praised Igbos, saying that if you don't find an Igbo person in a place, it's likely not lucrative. Although this statement lacks basis, it was well-received. However, when he made a comment that was perceived as negative, people demanded an apology. It's surprising how people react differently to praise versus criticism.
@@abdulmomoh9791 What Ruben Abati said was made out of ignorance. There are umunna lands, there are community lands. That of community lands they sell to anybody, the highest bidder. If any igbo man come to buy land from u don't sell to them no matter any amount of money dey come with. Someone can't sell its property to u cos u need it while d person don't see any need of him selling it. Simple.
The answer is how many non -igbos in SE have the money to buy land here. Three weeks ago, my uncle wanted to sale a land here in Awka , Anambra State. The land was going for 15M naira an Hausa man who based here in Awka was connected to buy the land, he came and said that he can not pay more than 10M naira. Another buyer came and paid 15M naira. The person who paid for land is an igbo man.
Dr. Abati, thank you for speaking up. Of course, there are exceptions. You will not find a law that says Igbos should not sell land to others, but as an unspoken rule, they don't sell land to others. The furious reaction everywhere shows that you hit a nerve. Continue to hit that nerve. No gree for anybody...if you have to stand alone, so be it.
Marginalisation makes it impossible for any of the non indegeous to buy land because no federal presence in the whole Eastern part of Nigeria. Nothing going on except private businesses.

@@aniokeogochukwu9994they didn't because they had choice, Yoruba will rather buy house than build house while an Igbo man will drive motorcycle but own an estate.
The answer is "False" A SIMPLE BREAKDOWN 👇 1. A person can sell their 'own' land to anyone if, when, and how they choose to. 2. You have no right to sell a family land. It could be in 'dispute'. 3. A community land can be offered to the State / Foreign Investors for development. To build Schools, Hospitals, Roads, Industries, Universities, Shopping Centers, Recreational Centers, etc.
The Onitsha mega markets, The Nnewi industries, the Aba industries, The Owerri industries, The numerous higher institutions and the vibrancy of the southeast economy, the natural landscapes to say the least... is more than enough to sustain the real estate Market.

STOP deceiving yourself. Gully erosion has not been fixed since 1960, insecurity, poverty, kidnapping, have been problems for decades. The escape route for Igbos have been to run to Yorubas in Lagos/south west, where many remain for years without returning to the south east
STOP flexing online. Go and fix south east and stay there. Stop running to Yorubas in Lagos south west. Your grandparents, parents, all ran to south west, during the civil war and they are still there 50 years after.

Nobody can buy land in Igbo land where her economy is being frequently sabotaged and paralyzed and making it ungovernable with endless insecurity. So this question is very laughable and a big mockery to Igbo land.Period.
Even igbos find it difficult to buy lands i their own land cos of communial ownership, is complicsted, and have other two wzys, calked kindred land, and individual selling ,so it makes selling land complicated even for indegines, cos when you are nagotiating for land with a community or kindred, it takes for ever and complicated,so as for wether land can be bought openly in ig o land ,yes, but it can be complicated and daunting but if you are buying from individual is easier.
My late brother-in-law used to reside in Igboland and was planning to purchase land to build on when they informed him that they don't sell to outsiders. I'm not saying anything to disparage anyone, but Dr. Abati is speaking the truth about the Igbo people. I adore Igbo people; my brother married an Igbo woman, and it's a truth that Igbo people don't sell their lands to outsiders. No hatred, we are one Nigeria and we have the right to live in anywhere as one Nigeria.
Get the knowledge that Igbo do sell land to anyone. Money has no colour for the Igbo. Having said this, get further knowledge that rather than sell land to an inlaw, Igbo give him land FREE of charge to do what he likes with it. TOS Benson wanted to buy land from his Mbieri inlaws and was refused; he was rather given land Free of charge and this was in 1961 and he built a Post Office on the land and that Post Office still stands till today. Abati or his source of information abridged the TOS Benson story to suit whatever they wanted but that effort has crashed into their faces.
If you really have a brother who married an Igbo woman, ask your in-law whether it’s true. Be assured that they will show you lands to buy. Igbos buy land anywhere because they want to settle there. How many of you people want to settle in Igbo land. Go around Igbo land and you will discover whom we are.
I disagree with the notion that Federal money is being spent in Lagos, Kano etc than the Ibo land. I am not even particular about the issue of selling or not selling in Ibo land but the attempt by Ibos to want to take over everything even governance in the States other than there own. Example is seen recently by the Ibos wanting to take over Lagos by saying that "Lagos is no man's land". We are trying to cover up the truth by these various counter arguments of what Abati has said.
Do Igbo does?. The answer is No. They want to buy your land , but they let others. When Biafra is, then shouldn't forger to carry the lands they buy Baggars
Please leave Igbo Land Alone, .... Mr. Man !!! We, Igbos don't sell our Ancestral Lands to any "Non-Igbos" !!! .... NEVER !! ..... EVER !!! ....... SO, LEAVE IGBO LAND ALONE, ..... Mr. Man !!!! ...... Go to Yoruba, and They will Sell Their Lands to you !!!

The simple truth is that the Igbo will buy and build anywhere in the world that they live and work in and treat it like home. They build magnificent mansions in their villages. How many Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, or other none Igbo people from outside of the East and mid west region go out of their way to Igbo land to buy and build just as the Igbo do in Yoruba land? How is that the fault of the Igbo? It would appear that discrimination and dislike of the Igbo in Nigeria knows no bounds. If you don’t want the Igbo in Nigeria let all none Yoruba and none Igbos people leave Nigeria with their resources and watch Nigeria collapse without the oil. Doctor Abatti was wrong to utter that comment as a journalist if he did so for real with conviction. I have never heard of any modern estate anywhere in Igbo land or in the Niger Delta area that rejects money from their fellow Nigerians who aren’t from that region. Dr Abatti should know better.
The simple answer is ibo lands have limited land space Ibo land is not of values to others The community are not as welcoming as other communities in Nigeria And finally there are alternatives lands available to buy elsewhere Whenever ibos talk about marginalization or hatred in the country it’s for lack of intellectual capacity to state your point and opinion Very shameful and disgusting these people summed up every to think everyone just hate them yet ibos are all over the country doing their business

But umunna lands is not for sell. So he should have said it like this not generalizing that Igbos don't sell lands to non Igbos which is wrong. Hausa people are living in communities at lokpanta towards Abia state, some part of Nsukka and Ebonyi state. Who then sold lands that they are occupying to them.

How difficult it's for outsider to get land in Lagos and other places outsider South East always play victim game. This is seriously bad to play this rethorics against yourself. The day you take up this kind of challenge and address thie core issue the better for you.
U didn't make any sense. No body force u to sell ur land. U did so cos u needed d money n being a lazy person that want free money. If any igbo man come to buy land from u don't sell to them no matter any amount of money dey come with. Someone can't sell its property to u cos u need it while d person don't see any need of him selling it. Simple.
Please come and buy land from me o.
Well spoken by Ozo
Abati thank you,
Most none ibo don't normally go for land in the eastern region. If some try at all, they don't go beyond Rivers state.
The truth is that the Igbos can't take any criticism, this explain the lynching of Dr Abati. Question is that how many non-Igbo have lands in SE?
No presence or your ppl style the money for roads

A SIMPLE BREAKDOWN 👇
The issue of residential estates going on in eastern Nigeria is a bubble. If not backed up by formidable economic drivers will eventually bust.
