I seen the whole interview and yeah i agree when i purchased slipknots iowa fear factory and some other albums the roadrunner records logo was a badge of honor like you were going to get the best production value and the most raw sounding heavy stuff you can think of Then starting in 2012 things started to seem way off base with the bands that were getting that logo on their albums Nothing against those bands as corey said but a lot of them did not fit with the image of what the roadrunner logo represented for us fans
I don't really follow them much, but Finale from their last album seemed to hint at them needing to leave something behind. Good to know its only the record label and not the band, as their last two albums have beem great. 'Solway Firth' 'Chapeltown Rag' and 'The Hive' are my favouite songs.
Slipknot seriously just needs to start their own Record Label. Call it IOWA Records or Studio NO.9 or something like that. Carry the brand of Slipknot into a natural next stage of existence.

I appreciate that that wouldn't be what's best for them career-wise, but I personally feel that - at this stage of the game - that's what would be best for them artistically.

I would’ve loved going last year when they were with Crown the Empire and Ice Nine Kills but due to family, high school (I’m no longer in school because I graduated) and the concert being in somewhere else, I couldn’t go. Slipknot and Arch Enemy are the biggest ones I want to see next.
Early 2000s Roadrunner's band roster was unparalleled. Slipknot, Stone Sour, Fear Factory, Soulfy, Nailbomb, Biohazard, Ill Niño, I could go on. I gave that label so much of my money back then. I hate that it fizzled out the way Corey tells it. Such a shame. Looking forward to the 'Knot's future now though. 🤘💀

@@robink4849 Wanyk got me into the band in 2019, I went back and listened to all their other albums (including mfkr) and I gotta say that self titled, iowa, and volume 3 are definitely my favorite albums by them but wanyk is still really good in my eyes. The only album that wholeheartedly disappointed me was their newest one.

Roadrunners very first Gold and Later Platinum album was Type O Negatives Bloody Kisses in 1993. Long before Slipknot was a thing for Roadrunner. But it is true that Slipknot became a force that sold millions for said record company after they came onto the scene. Just wanted to put that out there. Stay Metal my friends!! :)
Not at all. It's a GREAT album. Everyone's got their own appeal. A lot has to do with comparisons to previous albums, but I found 'The End, So Far' to be extremely good. The album that might've been a slight derailment was 'All Hope Is Gone'. But even that album has amazing tracks.

They utilize the sounds that make them so unique and immediately recognizable, yet adding a new ingredient to upcoming albums.

Unfortunately, all I really got out of this interview, and Clown’s previous statements, is that they’re going to piecemeal out material. I feel the death of the Slipknot “album” is now. We may get an EP here or there but not a collection of songs from a period of time. 😢
I get where you’re coming from. I just don’t see it as a negative so much as a positive for the artists. I think the entire industry is going to go this direction over time, because when bands aren’t being forced to crank out full albums where half the material is filler, they can work at their best capacities (not saying any Slipknot is filler, just that a lot of albums in general these days have maybe 1 or 2 peak songs and the rest is only there because the label demanded a full package.)
In 2011 staind released an album that (up for debate) could be considered their heaviest since dysfunction... those dudes were well in their 40s...slipknot makes heavy music man but it's been soo watered down since all hope is gone...I wish these dudes would rip out an album truly in the same spirit as Iowa.... I would love to see how it would play out...the stone sour vibes just really urk me with slipknot material and that's what I feel I've been getting from these dudes...heavy stone sour....

So happy for slipknot. They've been my favorite band for over a decade now. I don't listen nearly as much as I used to but this is an interesting twist that may tune me back in. I'm glad they're free though.

The world has changed. I have an entire media studio in my house - certainly Corey Taylor and Slipknot do not need the corporate world micromanaging anymore. Cameras, music gear, etc... it's all accessible they don't need anybody.

Please to god do some collaborations… i know doing anything is probably a huge undertaking considering how many people are in the band, but it would be crazy for music to have slipknot do some cross genre projects with other artists… always had this crazy idea of hearing XXXTENTACION and Corey together (obviously not gonna happen, but maybe with Uzi?)

It really sounds like so many other stories, once a bunch of suits take over a company and the people with passion are removed it turns to 💩. I grew up loving so many of the bands on that label that it was a huge part of my youth. We all know slipknot will be better doing it alone and I can’t wait 👍
Not to restart the gang wars, but I STRONGLY believe, they were pushed aside because Roadrunner didn’t want Slipknot to begin with, they wanted Mushroomhead, but they weren’t willing to give up their creative freedom, by going mainstream, so Slipknot who was formed about a year or 2 apart from Mushroomhead, who also wore masks, I think were looked at, like a guy trying to “get back” at his ex, by dating her sister or someone who looks very similar. That’s my honest belief, regardless of who was founded first.
Seeing Slipknot live is honestly, definitely one of the best moments one can experience. Really wish to do it again. I hope they keep going, forever a maggot!
They must include in their next albums much more guitar solos at least for more than 15 second or more. That's is the passion that makes the song a hit . Mick Thomson I hope he do that job.

i mean considering how big they are, and obvious project would be to create their own label. i always felt like that was going to be what they were building towards with knotfest. a lot of them have done their own projects and they already know every one and the business.
Slipknot is down to 5 original members. The limps have come away from the body. It would take the heaviest, gnarliest, fists in the air metal anthem to bring the beast back together...and I'm optimistic that will happen. I'm looking forward to this next chapter.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Type O Negative was the first Platinum selling artist on Roadrunner Records, with their album "Bloody Kisses" I am a huge fan of Type O Negative and Slipknot, but just want to put that out there. Roadrunner Records in the 90's into the 2000's had such a roster.
Yup, something that was mentioned in the RoadRunner United: The All Star Sessions DVD. Corey just can't help himself though, the guy is nothing more than an ego. Growing up, I used to idolise the whole band, since then, I've come to realise that Corey and Shawn's ego were far bigger than Slipknot could ever wish to be. They destroyed everything they'd created in the pursuit of greed and self-service, the very things early Slipknot spoke so vehemently against.
I love Slipknot and Corey so much. I’m not sure if it’s just the particular day, but Corey looks exhausted in this video, which I completely understand. I’ve seen at least a half dozen shows and gives every bit of his energy up until the last note is played. Although it would (selfishly) be a bummer if he retired from Slipknot, I would totally get it. I would be more than happy if he decided to write books from now moving forward. If anyone hasn’t read You’re Making Me Hate You, I highly recommend it. It’s so honest and so funny. His other books are quite entertaining as well.
Slipknot probably didnt mind the Mask Mandates much😂. In part due to their fondness of masks, in addition to the fact they swallowed that Rainbow Pill pretty hard.
2012 is pretty much when I started accepting that the monoculture that alternative music pushed into and took over was pretty much ending. Wonder if roadrunner was reading the room, or if their new priorities are part of what moved everyone out.
I haven't seen Slipknot since the AHIG era. Missed opportunities in recent years but so lucky to have experience the original Knot. Hoping for a 2024 North American Tour. Just one more time; man.🤘🤞
Saw them play for the first time at the first ever Australian knotfest at 30 years old, musically they were awesome like cannot complain - though you could tell age is catching up with them (which is fine) no crazy stunts or as much running around doing crazy shit, imo the only thing they are or will slow down on is the young man’s physical stuff on stage. (Which is fine it’s a part of life)
I feel like the next step should be starting their own label. They have so much reach in metal/rock to be able to help small bands come up. Help out the next generation of bands, and who knows maybe they’ll have a band on their label that reaches slipknot levels of success
These dudes are tired and have lost their touch. Getting rid of key members over greed. Their original bass player made there sound better. Metallica and the Rolling stones, you all should retire as well. There has to be a celebrity golf tournament somewhere for you all to disappear, too.
Corey and then have always done their own thing and not give into popular trends, they understand what they are and what they want with the music they create. And I know people have some doubts but I know they are gonna make more great music and push the boundaries of their craft
Saw these guys in Springfield, MO a year ago. Couldn't move for 4 days afterwards! Great time!! 1st time I saw Slipknot was the Ozzfest tour in 1999. They opened the 2nd stage. And oh what an open it was!!! Destroyed it!

So happy for slipknot. They've been my favorite band for over a decade now. I don't listen nearly as much as I used to but this is an interesting twist that may tune me back in. I'm glad they're free though.

Please to god do some collaborations… i know doing anything is probably a huge undertaking considering how many people are in the band, but it would be crazy for music to have slipknot do some cross genre projects with other artists… always had this crazy idea of hearing XXXTENTACION and Corey together (obviously not gonna happen, but maybe with Uzi?)

It really sounds like so many other stories, once a bunch of suits take over a company and the people with passion are removed it turns to 💩. I grew up loving so many of the bands on that label that it was a huge part of my youth.

Not to restart the gang wars, but I STRONGLY believe, they were pushed aside because Roadrunner didn’t want Slipknot to begin with, they wanted Mushroomhead, but they weren’t willing to give up their creative freedom, by going mainstream, so Slipknot who was formed about a year or 2 apart from Mushroomhead, who also wore masks, I think were looked at, like a guy trying to “get back” at his ex, by dating her sister or someone who looks very similar. That’s my honest belief, regardless of who was founded first.

i mean considering how big they are, and obvious project would be to create their own label. i always felt like that was going to be what they were building towards with knotfest. a lot of them have done their own projects and they already know every one and the business.
Slipknot is down to 5 original members. The limps have come away from the body. It would take the heaviest, gnarliest, fists in the air metal anthem to bring the beast back together...and I'm optimistic that will happen. I'm looking forward to this next chapter.

I stopped following slipknot long ago but I'm pleased to see Corey looking and sounding really good.
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Type O Negative was the first Platinum selling artist on Roadrunner Records, with their album "Bloody Kisses" I am a huge fan of Type O Negative and Slipknot, but just want to put that out there. Roadrunner Records in the 90's into the 2000's had such a roster.

Yup, something that was mentioned in the RoadRunner United: The All Star Sessions DVD. Corey just can't help himself though, the guy is nothing more than an ego. Growing up, I used to idolise the whole band, since then, I've come to realise that Corey and Shawn's ego were far bigger than Slipknot could ever wish to be. They destroyed everything they'd created in the pursuit of greed and self-service, the very things early Slipknot spoke so vehemently against.
Been waiting for a Slipknot yacht rock album for 20 years. Maybe some collaboration with 311 doing reggae remixes.

I love Slipknot and Corey so much. I’m not sure if it’s just the particular day, but Corey looks exhausted in this video, which I completely understand. I’ve seen at least a half dozen shows and gives every bit of his energy up until the last note is played. Although it would (selfishly) be a bummer if he retired from Slipknot, I would totally get it. I would be more than happy if he decided to write books from now moving forward. If anyone hasn’t read You’re Making Me Hate You, I highly recommend it. It’s so honest and so funny. His other books are quite entertaining as well.

2012 is pretty much when I started accepting that the monoculture that alternative music pushed into and took over was pretty much ending. Wonder if roadrunner was reading the room, or if their new priorities are part of what moved everyone out.
I haven't seen Slipknot since the AHIG era. Missed opportunities in recent years but so lucky to have experience the original Knot. Hoping for a 2024 North American Tour. Just one more time; man.🤘🤞

Saw them play for the first time at the first ever Australian knotfest at 30 years old, musically they were awesome like cannot complain - though you could tell age is catching up with them (which is fine) no crazy stunts or as much running around doing crazy shit, imo the only thing they are or will slow down on is the young man’s physical stuff on stage.

I feel like the next step should be starting their own label. They have so much reach in metal/rock to be able to help small bands come up. Help out the next generation of bands, and who knows maybe they’ll have a band on their label that reaches slipknot levels of success

Corey and then have always done their own thing and not give into popular trends, they understand what they are and what they want with the music they create. And I know people have some doubts but I know they are gonna make more great music and push the boundaries of their craft

1st time I saw Slipknot was the Ozzfest tour in 1999. They opened the 2nd stage. And oh what an open it was!!! Destroyed it!
Would have loved to see them back in those days.. First time I saw them was their Grey Chapter tour in 2014 or 2015? I think.
