    I am very much considering this boat. Thanks so much for the super honest review

    Those brackets for the tower are for transport only..not need just to store it down

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My dealer said to use the brackets if the tower was going to be down for more than a few days so who knows!? Something about potentially stretching the cables

    The small metal bar on the window you mentioned. I first noticed the bar is bent which indicates something or someone landed on the windshield and broke the plastic enough that it bent the bar too. Just being fair can’t blame Yamaha on that one. I am not saying plastic is the answer but my hemi has a composite intake manifold that gets 350-plus degrees and doesn’t brake. That windshield was hit by something brother. If it were a used boat probably was the last person.

    You figured out at the end what I was yelling in my head... just jiggle the tongue a bit it will drop in. All the rest I agree are irritating issues. I have the same boat.

      Crazy that the dealer couldn't tell me that when I asked them about it, they told me to hit it with a hammer

  • @mustangracer5124

    Vacuum plugs .. about $2 for 10 for the bolts.. pipe insulation for the cooler and the pin is better off too tight.. if too loose it will wander when backing..
    I had one too loose and it drove me nuts.

    Thanks for the video Mike. Those long bolts are the worst! The non ratcheting winch also sucks. I tried to buy an AR195 this year but my order was canceled. Hoping for a 2022 and I'll be sure to look close at the places you've had issues. Get us an update with what the dealer repairs and what you decide to do on your own.

      Sure thing. And best of luck on getting your boat! Which of the new colors do you like the most?

  • @Bdoodee

    Trailer roller and swing out, trim piece, a little bit of carpet slop and a bracket. If these are the reasons you “hate” your boat then I dunno know man…. Maybe you got other bigger issues that may need tending to.

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Admittedly it was just clickbait. We love the boat and those are things that should have been better on a new boat IMO. Any new boat is going to have random things wrong with it. We plan to keep this boat for a very long time

  • @Nestbirdllc

    Yamaha should send you a test unit every time they roll out a new boat

      I wouldn't mind that haha. I just would have thought they would have better internal QA

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was Dick's boats in Clearfield but I honestly don't blame them. Seems like most of these issues should have been taken care of at the Yamaha plant and shorelander plant

    Hello, your list is like a clean slate compared to another boat I've been considering. I found issues about that boat in the Hull Truth. This punch list was posted last August for a boat that costs ( Last time I checked yesterday) new for around $60+K: "Bought a 2021 (Chaparral) SSi, POS! let me list all the problems thus far after only 21 hrs:
    1 - They forgot to install the engine cowl latch...really! It would be an additional 3 weeks to get it installed, I asked for them to send to me and I installed it.
    2- Blemishes all over the gelcoat, bubbling, fade marks, porous spots. One spot you could see the fiberglass sheet.
    3. Loose helm trim requiring adjustment
    4. Snap straps of alignment by allot...
    5. Engine leaks oil after 19 hrs
    6. Cables are starting to get exposed after 12 hrs (below Helm)
    7. Cables are coming loose. Radio turns off intermittently. I can see the cable dangling underneath
    8. Trailer won't brake.
    Impossible to get a dealer to work on it, overwhelmed with workmanship problems
    If you call customer service, be ready to leave a voice mail and never hear from them."
    Whew! Now that is a gripe list!
    My dilemma: Chaparral dealer is on my lake, Yamaha dealer is a 40+ mile trailer ride to another city. And I'll never buy another Sea Ray as Brunswick has closed their Flagler, Phoneix and (just announced) Knoxville Sea Ray plants and moved Sea Ray production to Reynosa, Mexico, announcing expansion there with an increase in production capacity in Mexico by 60%.
    Only Yamaha treats it's entry level customers with the same quality and attention to detail now that you have to spend twice as much or more with another maker to receive (or not!)

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My list is a little nitpicky but we really do love the boat. It's perfect for our family! Did you get subs of your issues worked out?

  • @stusrt
    @stusrt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got the Yamaha 195S this summer. My #1 issue is the tower. It's great when it's up. But I keep my boat in the garage, which means the tower has to come down. So I couldn't take the boat in/out the garage solo. And WTF with the cooler? It's like a $15 cooler (I bought a YETI, same size). And I have no idea how I'm supposed to secure it to the boat with those straps.

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really wish the tower was a one-man setup and takedown. I saw someone tie a rope to the tower and hook it to the lower tow rope connection. It was pretty genius I thought to do that when you tighten everything up but I won't be trying that because too much could go wrong if the rope slipped or broke!

  • @stusrt
    @stusrt ปีที่แล้ว

    Update to my comment below... I did buy a Third Arm tool. It's what dry wallers use to hold up drywall against a wall when working alone. It has worked perfectly for dealing with the tower by myself. Just wish Yamaha thought of something instead of me.

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you just keep it in your garage or something? Now a bad idea. Right now I just have one of my kids hold the tower up

  • @Flyingaceful
    @Flyingaceful 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Paying attention to small details does count! I hope yamaha will adress those issues.

    When you put your pin in at the top, lift the tongue up just a tad . Make sure to use your legs not your back . Goes in super easy . Also magic eraser works real well on the scratches. Good video tho , just some tips that work

      One of the plates to connect the tower has slid over just enough that the tower won't screw in. I have to tap it over with a piece of a 2x4 and hammer. One of the cushions broke. We've been waiting months for the cushion replacement from yamaha, still hasn't arrived. The dealer said that they would try to adjust the tower connection if we bring the boat in.

    • @BingoBabyO

      @@MikeMurphyinc yea Im waiting for a bow cushion they never gave me and carpet… seems like Yamaha factory making these has some issues.

  • @GOATbro_Australia
    @GOATbro_Australia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting! I have done several reviews (see my channel GOATbro) on my 2019 AR195, and raised a couple of issues, none of which are the same as yours. I have also noted a couple of later Yamaha Jet Boat models with pinched cooling hoses, which I have not experienced, but am going to have a look at all of mine before the first trip to the lake this year. Your right! What the heck Yamaha!

      Yeah, What the heck Yamaha! :) We love ours. We have four kids 12 and under and it's a great size for us. I think we will end up with a 25 footer when the kids get older and/or when we start getting grandkids (one day!)

  • @craigroberts4923
    @craigroberts4923 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why are you using the aluminum brackets when the tower is lowered. Those are only required when trailering with the tower down

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, I did not know that. One of the reasons is because I don't want to accidentally back the tower into the garage :) For that reason we lower the tower and use the aluminum brackets every time we come out of the water. Sometimes, after a long day of heat and exertion, I make dumb mistakes haha

  • @YAMR1000
    @YAMR1000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those pins have to go in with a hammer because they're designed that way. That's not a point in your trailer that you want any slack because we'll feel it while towing. All in all everything that you're complaining about is very nitpicky, if you don't enjoy every process of owning a boat you'll never enjoy boating.

    • @MikeMurphyinc
      @MikeMurphyinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว
