*Scott,* We do recommend that method from time to time. Where we completely submerged the air filter element in the air filter oil, we feel it was sufficient enough to make a tight seal. A little bit of grease on the mating surface of the filter never hurts. Thanks for watching.

Where is the snorkel and how do I remove it to improve performance?
You should be able to take off your seat and see a snorkel piece on top of the airbox that can be removed.
