I'm kinda surprised the DKC2 Kaptain K. Rool fight wasn't in the best fights. It's pretty darn difficult.
Looking back, I think its better than King K Rool 1, such a great fight

NT MT To me King K. Rools theme from DKC 1 doesn't feel like boss music to me, Its too happy-go-lucky or something. They could have switched it with the music from the first stage which even fits better. Plus you just start the fight there's no build up beforehand. K. Rool barely does anything and is really easy as well lol. DKC2 ftw.

And it even has a secret revenge fight where he becomes extremely difficult but only takes a single hit to kill him
It's interesting that you repeatedly pointed out "waiting =/= excitement."
The original King K. Rool boss fight was nothing but waiting. You dodged the cannon balls, and then waited for KKR to throw his crown. And then waited while he jumped around the stage. And then waited for the cannon balls to pass you again.
You know that is a really good point. Now that I really think about it...A LOT of the bosses in DKC are about waiting. Like the majority of them. I guess it's just about how much fun they are in comparison to each other haha
The original King K Rool is also one of my favorite bosses, though. I just think it's from the sheer nostalgia of it. Beating that boss was one of the most satisfying things I'd ever done at that point in my childhood. Haha
Yeah. I thought KKR was great. Liked Klubba too. I guest waiting can build excitement. I thought he made a really good point about using the mechanics that you had learned, and that's why I came Carol was such a good fight. I'm just putting on my retrospective glasses though oh, honestly I just liked it because I liked it without thinking about why I liked it LOL

I may be alone on this but... I loved King Kut Out. Yes, you had to hit him the exact same way all the time but so what? that laugh was worth it. even if you died from getting inside the cannon too late... or too early.
I did actually enjoy the fight. It was creative, and meant to be silly. a very tongue in cheek kind of boss. It was on the "bad" bosses in a tongue in cheek way too :) hehe thanks for watching!
Actually... I love King Kut Out too. I always love the challenging bosses/levels, and that's the one thing that's better about donkey kong country and 64 than mario (even though mario's my favorite series). But anyway, King Kut Out is definitely awesome!
King Kut Out is funny and a fun boss to play for the camp factor, but a bit of a letdown considering Creepy Castle had so much potential for a spooky final boss, like the mine cart demon who tries to take your coins.
He's also supposed to represent the fact that at this point the kremlings are SO down bad at the moment in the game. they had all their bosses beat and ran out of bosses to throw at the kongs. so in order to buy K.Rool time they quickly whipped up a makeshift "boss". lol love it.
What? xD King Kut Out was my favorite boss for the humor.

I personally found the Chicken Boss and the red Thugly boss from dkc returns to be incredibly difficult in mirror mode, and beating them were two of the most satisfying moments I've had in games.
My personal favorite boss in Tropical Freeze was Skowl the Startling. I feel like he was a much better giant egg dropping bird boss than Krow from DKC 2 or Stu from DKC Returns. I also really liked Mad Jack from DK64's Frantic Factory level.
Jared RB Garrison My jaw was dropping the entire Skowl fight, as it was honestly one of the best boss fights I've ever played. And it was only the second boss in the game! One of the many reasons Tropical Freeze is the greatest platformer ever created.

I like Tiki Tong from Donkey Kong Country Returns.The music is perfect for Tiki Tong.He's a certain type of hard which gives him a good place in memory.
I feel like Bashmaster didn't get enough credit here, his ice projectiles get really cool towards the end of the fight, especially when he's shooting them extremely quickly, and then fakes you out.

I agree with you on Kudgel, I mean, the dude makes TNT barrels pop out of nowhere for no reason. He literally hands you the thing you need to beat him.

I always had a liking for Stu, the 3rd boss in DKC Returns. This was the first fight in which bombs had a major impact, and I loved the diversity in his different spastic movements. Also, he has a nuke. Just sayin'.

I liked every boss in that game minus that darn crab pirate crew (I can't remember the name specifically XD) and Colonel Pluck, since both of them stumped me so hard as a kid and even now I struggle so hard with Colonel Pluck for whatever reason...
First of all, thanks for doing the Donkey Kong Country series justice with these videos. I grew up with them and love them all.
Secondly, my favorite boss was Kaptain K. Rool from DKC 2. The different ways he would should projectiles at you kept you jumping to avoid damage and got harder as the fight progressed. And the start of the rematch when his gun is full of water was hilarious.

-K Rool (DKC2) Awesome music, fun kind of challenging even tho I nearly always die on the last part of the 3rd phase

-Bumble Bee Rumble (DKC) Intimidating like King Zing, and nostalgic

-K Rool (DKC3) Kinda anticlimactic, feels like an easy puzzle platformer boss
-Mole Train (DKCR) Combining mine cart antics with whack-a-mole, and being a marathon boss

-Second K Rool fight (DKC2) Anticlimactic, takes only one hit after a long gauntlet of attacks
The second K Rool fight from DKC2 was so awesome just because he only had one hp. Think of it like Sans from Undertale. He was practically untouchable until the very end, which made it pretty cool.

Surprisingly, Colonel Pluck was my favourite because of how different I felt while playing it. Most other bosses didn't really amp up my courage while watching a cutscene, but Colonel Pluck really did. +His theme is my favourite out of all of DKC:R.

I love the part were he adjusts his goggles in the cutscene. He kinda grew on me! After I defeated him I literally screamed OMG I KILLED HIM!?
I disagree for colonel cluck. He was one of the best bosses in the game. I mean sure, the first phase could get a little tedious, but the rest of it was awesome. Look at his moves while he's flying!

Wouldn’t say he’s one of the best, but definitely not one of the worst either. Personal best for me is Thugly without a doubt, the music was intense, the fight was intense, and the fact that he’s so similar yet so different to Mugly makes it the best of the best. Worst would probably be the Scurvy Crew, as it really just felt like fighting normal enemies rather than a boss. Mangoruby also sucked, but at least it’s an actual boss. As for Pluck, the first phase was a bit on the boring side, but the second phase definitely improved the fight. It’s also a really challenging fight which is good considering he’s the boss of the semifinal world.

Clearly the most fascinating and hard of all was Captain K. Rool at the secret world (DKC2). It started with a funny animation of Captain firing a fish, then madness. Also the scenario is awesome and meaningful: its the very industry that generates Kremlings. I miss him in the list!

I fully agree with your top 5 worst, and I like your picks for top 5 best, although I detected some salt towards King Snowmad, but I honestly loved that fight. The music is badass, and the fight is obnoxiously difficult, which I enjoyed.

I haven't played the Donkey Kong Country games for myself, but looking at that fight, the biggest kick I get out of it is the fact that some of his projectiles are shaped like ice dragons, which is... umm... cool... because I like dragons a lot
I've played all of the games featured in that video except donkey kong country: tropical freeze (but I really want to). Anyway, you did miss KAOS. He was an awesome boss, and my dad always had jokes for him. But anyways, that video was your opinion, and even though I don't agree with it, excellent job! I'll be liking it!

No, I praise Belcha because its a freaking barrel that burps, and the only way to kill it is move it to the right while it tries to move you to the left and kill you. It's one of the most creative bosses I've ever seen, Kudgel is a simple little dude with a club that just jumps.

I remember battling Dumb Boss Drum for the first time and thinking " Wow! This guy could've been the first or even second boss of this WHOLE game." He's pretty bad. Belcha was pretty fun to play against. Thanks for the memories 😊

To be fair, Bleak pretty much puts your Swanky's Sideshow skills to the test. If you haven't visited the sideshow hut even once, then you will die quite a bit before figuring out the pattern.
And Kudgel's fight wasn't that bad imo. He pretty much enforces that the ground isn't always a safe spot anywhere.
The others I can kind of get around on, but those two at least have some kind of merit.
In Dumb Drum they test your ability to look up for falling objects which it will happen at King K. Rools battle drop cannonballs attacks
I have t played every Donkey Kong game. But I’ve never disliked any level or boss level. They all have their own challenges and sometimes being patient is the challenge and that’s cool with me because the different challenges is why I play the games.

I didn't, for all the reasons the OP explained. Plus the difficulty was outrageous for beginners. I had to use a super item to beat him the first time.

@@Kfowlkes09 this game was one of the first I ever completed and colonel pluck is still my favorite boss fight. It was tough and I died a fair bit of times but good god was it fun. Also it was the second to last boss so by then I'd become good enough at the game to where it was just challenging enough to be fun. Also that theme tho, feather fiend is hype as fuck!

I loved Colonel Pluck. He was one of my most favorite bosses because of the theme and the mech he was in
Dumb Drum is my favorite boss in Donkey Kong Country. I don't think of it as they ran out of ideas (especially because almost all the other bosses are just larger recolored versions of regular enemies), I think of it as the most creative boss fight in the game. I never expected to fight an oil drum as a boss, and that's what makes it fun. It's a hilarious boss fight. Also I played the game on GBA, and in that version you throw TNT barrels at Dumb Drum, along with avoiding enemies. I actually like the boss fight more than the final boss because it's so different from the others.
King k rool was the best to you? Srsly his patterns are so easy to track.
I loved the music of it, but if I made this list again, I think I would have put DKC2 K Rool instead

We'd probably give the best slot to Kaptain K. Rool (K. Rool Duel) in DKC2. The worst would probably be Colonel Pluck, because fuck that guy.
Oh, and in our opinion, Bleak's laugh is precisely what makes him one of the most memorable bosses. In fact, we want an entire spinoff series based on him and his wacky family.

DKCR Final Boss: Gets harder each time you attack him, and his third phase is really hard, but this boss is fun.

DKC 2 Final Boss: Awsome music, good gameplay, and an amazing plot.
DKCR Mole Train: You have to fight some moles on a train. The entire mole crew helps Max the Mole to get his train moving faster so the kong's do not ruin their dinner.

DKCR Thugly: Can barely get past his first phase. Is much much much more harder than Mugly. Just the cousin of Mugly, who is smarter.

Dogadon had the darkest battle and death of any dk character. You legit kill his child and burn him alive. Which honestly traumatized me as a kid. It looks pretty real too when he burns.
King Kut Out was actually one of my favorite DK64 bosses. Sure, it can be repetitive, but it keeps me on me on the edge of my seat each time. And it does get more hard and intense as it goes on
dkc3 robot it was fun and gave me nightmares but it was long
I'd hardly say you had to play each level 5 times in Donkey Kong 64.
It was more like one time and then you just collected everything.

I went back to it on VC too and it was still as great as I remember.
In DKC for Game Boy Advance everytime you defeated the enemies Dumb Drum spat out you would have to thorw a TNT barrel at him making the fight a little bit better. Great list though
I like Kudgel, I thought it was cool how, instead of a regular big animal as a boss, you had a gigantic hulking Kremling instead. I'd also suggest that Klubba is a palette swap of the boss, not vice versa.
Easily my least favourite Donkey Kong Boss has to be the fight with K. Rool in DKC 3. That game was pretty amazing right up until the end, which is too bad because all of the other bosses were challanging, and if not that, at least creative.
As a Donkey Kong afficianado, this is a pretty good list! VZed is totally right thow, K. Rool from DKC2 is the penultimate boss. So good! So challenging! SO HYPE

Baron K. Roolenstein did have pretty mediocre fights in DKC3. They were slow and very...stupid. It was all very stupid. K. Rool had a stupid way of fighting the Kongs...he just floated around minding his own business while he let the Kongs digure out how to get past his electric traps and grab a barrel.
I can't be too hard on the fight though because that's the gist of a lot of DKC boss fights (from the first 3 DKC games)...they're stupid and forced and sometimes slow but in the end the SNES doesn't allow for much ingenuity with boss fights. The bosses can't really be programmed much beyond having a basic pattern and a basic way to damage them. Well...that's probably the case.

DKC2 Kaptain K. Rool fight was the best and very challenging. Specially the 2nd time after beating the lost worlds.
KKR from DK64 is also an awesome fight, you mentioned it in another video, it is great to see the cohesive strength of the Kongs, and their respective abilities to accomplish it. I was so excited to see the full ending when completing with 101%, more so when I left the final fight until I finished the collect-athon.
That waterfall boss at 5:59 made me quit playing DKC3 as a child. I played the GBA version and I could not for the life of me figure out how to shoot water using the elephant.

K. Rool on DK64 is one of the best bosses in video games in general. Even if you dislike the game for the backtracking you'll still
love how they incorporate all 5 characters in a single epic boss battle, each harnessing their unique abilities in creative waves.
Snowman was so cool man ! I think the most exciting boss fight of the serie is the first K.Rool of DKC2, really hard, with attacks which gave you special effects like reverse your controller etc...

Jarl Anarch its one of my favorite 64 games, but I can accept that it isn't perfect and they could have executed things better.
It's my favorite Donkey Kong game. What he said was bad in his Bad Game Design video never really bothered me. The only thing I hated about it was the difficulty. Especially that "So-Help-Me-God" beetle race thing in Angry Aztec,

In the worst bosses section, I personally would have almost all of the places filled with a boss from the first DKC. One of the worst aspects of the first game is its bosses.

You failed to mention the most annoying part about King Kut Out, what makes him difficult.
For those of you who are unaware, King Kut Out is not the ONLY King Kut Out. There are FOUR of them. And only one, which moves around during the fight, is actually the boss. The others are phonies and spend less time active as the real one. So if a clone is active for 2 seconds, the real one is active for 4 or so.
Why is this important? You saw how a successful impact stranded you next to the edge of the playing field? If you hit the wrong one the momentum will carry that Kong over the playing field REMOVING THEM FROM THE FIGHT PERMANENTLY.
You get five chances not to fuck up. Don't waste them. Heed my advice and take your time with this boss, and learn how long each cut out stands up.
I remember when I first got this game in Kindergarten and I was so panic stricken fighting Mad Jack I failed to notice how you beat him and just thought the electricity was random.
To be fair, he wasn't that hard. I will admit the first time I played against him I lost but that because I couldn't figure out what to do in round 3 when he kept rotating around the stage really fast, but afterwards I realized what to do and it wasn't that bad. I will agree tough Mad jack was the toughest in my opinion out of all the bosses, close second would have been dodongo round 2 in Fungi Forest that was mention in this video.

I liked King Kut Out to be honest. I thought it was a really unique idea. I actually thought it added to the ambiance of K. Rool's very essence for the game. I do not really know how to explain it, but it made him more intimidating, because they made a boss, that was actually one of the more difficult bosses in the game, based off of the final boss, and it was merely made of cardboard. It kind of added to the mystery of the K. Rool fight, because I was just sitting there like, "Jeez, if a mere cardboard cut out is this hard, imagine how hard K. Rool himself must be." Also, it promoted K. Rool more, because it gave you a taste of not only how powerful he was, but how beloved and somewhat obsessed his minions must be with him. It gave K. Rool a stronger more intimidating presence for the game and showed the strong devotion his followers had for him, which was also somewhat intimidating, because you know if they were worshipping a guy, he must be something truly special, and truly be something to fear. I know that may have sounded a bit repetitive in spots, but I think that was the best way to explain it. Also, you cannot deny the snowman's laugh was funny.
My favorite was the King K. Rool fight in Donkey Kong 64. So many phases and you had to use all the Kongs. It took me many tries as a kid, but it sticks in my brain to this day.

IMO DK64 was fun, because you had to go through the game as 5 unique characters, but I digress.
A favorite boss was Kapitan K. Roll, because it keeps you on your toes.
Least favorite boss was the Cardboard cut out from DK64 mostly because you had to be two steps ahead with up to 5 Kong's, because if you missed you lost a Kong to use for that "fight"

It even had that charm of you coming back for more.
Men the K. Rool showdown of DK2 is the greatest! Nice boss music (one of my favourites, not as memorable as Gankplank Galleon but more badass and sounds better in my opinion) and also the bossfight is hard enough to make you feel into a true final boss.

I'm sorry but dod you just say Donkey Kong 64 was quote on quote, a "BAD" game? That game is quite litteraly my favorite Donkey Kong game.
Bleak was so much fun in dkc3. It was such a unique way to fight a boss in my opinion.
My favorite is by far the mole train from DKCR on the Wii. I dont care you have to wait so much. The environment, music, and constant action makes it really fun.
Srsly dude? Dumb Drum is the BEST boss in DKC.
I never expected they would make a boss like that and he fits the world the best in all the bosses in DKC.
And I also liked the Snowman in DKC3, its just originally thought out so that not any boss battle would look/be the same.
And I liked the way how you slide down out of the world after you beaten the Snowman.
And where the fuçk is Kleever (the sword from world 2-DKC2) He was AWSOME, and I liked how you could get Banana Coins in the boss battle!

I don't know if this qualifies him as best or worst, but after nearly three full games of DK even when playing as good old reliable Enguarde the Swordfish, I could not imagine a meaner or more dastardly boss to face than BARBOS!!! Seriously, this ruthless giant Lurchin has driven me crazy for years, and he's by far the toughest area boss in DKC3. His defense barbs are nearly impossible to knock away, either with the small lurchins you shoot back at him or the homing shells you must lead around just right. And the three times he shoots spines when you're trying to get in stabbing position? YIKES!
DK 3's final boss is pretty awful.
ugh... DK64 isn't a bad game just because you don't like a mechanic in it... and why pick the dragon boss from it? have you even played the game?

Its a good game, but 101% is annoying to get and i wish they did boss fights in a more interesting way, utilizing the kongs more like they did with the final boss. The K Rool fight in 64 is amazing, and one of my all time favorite boss fights.

It's not bad, but that bad mechanic was one of the game's biggest. In the haunted castle level, it wasn't so bad. The way the level was structured made it less annoying to collect all the bananas. The other levels? It got very annoying and took up most of the game. It's basically why collect-a-thons are incredibly rare nowadays.
I like those kinds of bosses in the last one. Fighting wave after wave of enemies is a whole new experience for me.
I liked Colonel Pluck and his accordion theme.
5B: Pretty surprising addition, but it is a very well done first boss though.
4B: I like this one as well. It's surprisingly harder than it looks, which is what a late-game boss should be.
3B: Best bear ever. I'm pretty disappointed you didn't mention the godly soundtrack of him though...
2B: Most of the time I hate repeat bosses, but I do agree that this is one of the best exceptions.
1B: Then again, who wouldn't like this one? It may look very simple when compared to today's standards, but it works nonetheless.
5W: I personally don't have a lot of issues with this one, although it does feel like it goes on forever. By the way, that running attack you claimed to be nearly un-telegraphable actually can be telegraphed. Before it starts running fast it will always move its last leg in a noticeably different way. I don't know how best to describe it other than to advise you to look at it yourself. Before it starts running you'll be able to see the difference in its last leg.
4W: I agree, this is the most boring thing this game had. Hell, whenever I watch any video of DKC2 boss battles, this is the one I just skip over. It's really that dull.
3W: Yeah, it's a pretty strange way to program a boss battle. That last laugh he does before he explodes is the most hilarious thing ever though.
2W: This one's actually much worse than you think. It's not just that it's boring, it's that it keeps getting annoyingly faster, even fooling you by turning invisible at some points. The worst part is that if you miss him, the current kong you launched at it gets lost and once all kongs flung out of the castle, you lose... just like that.
1W: I will admit that I find this boss kinda hilarious. I don't know, something about it is just oddly interesting. The way its "battle" is styled is indeed pretty dumb, particularly for a late-game boss, but I just don't nearly hate it as much as you do.
Klubba was originally planned as a boss, and I there was not time to design a new sprite for a boss so they decided to use Kudgel in his place.
His saying that he doesnt like the way Captain K Rool treats him makes it seems hes getting even with him for placing him to guard a bridge instead of fighting the Kongs

My favorite boss fight from D.K. was fighting Kaptain K. Rool. The music was awesome and beating him felt super satisfying.
One many people won't mention? Lord Fredrik from Tropical Freeze. To many, he's just a Diet King K. Rool with a crappy pattern. I loved him. His design, his laugh, and imo the ice horn wasn't that much of a copy of Kaptain's blunderbuss. I ALSO LOVE LOVE LOVE how he mocks and taunts you when you miss him when throwing Tucks his way. He even dances on his tippytoes! He's fun, funny AND badass.
He gets a lot of undeserved hate. I think it's mostly because K. Rool fans wanted the real thing back after a long absence, and Fredrik pushed that impatience over the top. A real shame. He COULD have done with maybe a few more diverse attacks too. With those things in mind, he'd have been darn-near perfect as a stand in for Best Kremling, instead of just awesome.

Dum Drum explodes because it slammed on the floor one too many times. I thought it was obvious. As for King Cut Out, he's prefect. After going through Creepy Castle the 1st time, kids were dreading the boss, specially after a boss like Mad Jack. So having this boss at the end made the entire experience all better. Like, "this is your reward for toughing it out in Ceepy Castle, have a laugh"
