Lucky I listen to this very carefully because this lesson is so important for knowing when to bend. I haven't seen another teacher explaining it in such a precise detail with the 3 thinist strings . 😳 love the lesson. Thank you
I appreciate. I'm still in prehistory...I freak out when I try = stupidly afraid to break a string. Thanks for your lesson. You've taught me so much...I got through this. 👍🎶🎶🎶
Light bulb moment! String bending minor scales & pentatonics great for blues & rock, but not so much for country. I heard your first few bends & bam, it sounded country to me. Just some quick research & sure enough, country mixes major & minor with that twang coming from major bends \o/ Guitar is such a mythical creature sometimes :D I just need to stop being lazy & use my electric more cuz string bending G major scale on my acoustic isn't all that fun :)
At the 7:48 mark Justin shows a PDF with all five of the major scale patterns and the entire thing mapped out on the neck. For the life of me, I cannot find that on the website. Can anyone tell me how to get that?
Did you see guys Justin performing a metal riff in that blonde guy with beard's channel? I'm sorry can't remember his name, he's a charming guy that gives advice on guitar related stuff. He asked other TH-cam guitarists to compose a metal riff and everybody was impressed by Justin's, including myself cause it's hard to see him involved in that kind of style. He cracked me, it was like "let's see how this folky guy kicks their ass" 🎃
Great video. Finally got properly motivated to look at major scales and bending. So far I've tried to milk the pentanic minor or blues scale for Improv. You just made major look fun 2. And I've always thought major scale was a drag. Btw. You r last sequence video, I find it hard to do sequences. Fingers and ears seems to wanna play chromatic notes/movements. Tips to stop that madness?
I seem to be making some progress with bending in terms of hitting the right pitch. But I'm struggling with the strings above the one that is being bent. They just get stuck under my finger tip, and when I release a bend they go bzinnng, making a ton of noise. I try to mute them with my right hand but it's still a challenge .
I try to mute them with the index finger of the fretting hand instead. Push the string with middle/ring fingers and use the index for muting the unwanted sounds.
I’m wondering about the string bending you noted in position 1 and how it overlaps pattern 2. Specifically, for example, you mapped from string 3, fret 5 going into pattern 2 in order to derive a full tone bend. Why did you not derive it from string 2, fret 3?
how do you convert string bends to semitones and tones on a piano so that i can do the exact same melody from the guitar on the piano ? as i need to convert lead guitar solos to piano solos so that i can play my piano ?

Pre-bends are what I had to work on the most, as in the song "Something." Cheers, Justin!! :)

You can use a regular guitar tuner to check whether your bendings are right. Will help to those with underdeveloped music ear like myself.
Great refresher lesson, been lazy with my bends recently
Just recorded a great solo with a TERRIBLY out of tune bend at the last note

I love your guitar Justin. What is it? Does anyone know?
great video Justin! Just thought I should mention that you misspelled your name in your second card (the one where you linked to your backing tracks)
Really enjoyed this module, but I'm also curious about the next one. Any hint when it's going to be released? :)
Sorry but I can't find the pdf anywhere on the site, maybe I'm just blind but could anyone guide me to it please. Thank you :)

@@krematorak thank you for the advice. I'll definitely try it
Setting my action a little higher helped me a ton with bending too

The bend to the opening of Oasis Morning Glory doesn't sound right to me on a steel string acoustic guitar. Is it just me?
please tell me about the guitar. Looks great!

Can you please teach us
ramones i don't wanna go down to the basement
Tag Justin good to hear you changed the Strings on your guitar. In your last Video, Strings D A E wher buzzing like crazy.
We Kick Butt Everyday, Yeah
Nice but beyond my capabilities...eek, can't even get a whole song almost 2yrs of trying. But nice lesson
I wish I had thin fingers :)
As ridiculous as it is .. resolving the confusion about the fact that that the bend should be to a scale degree ... took me YEARS to clarify.
I didn't understand shit
