You do know that any Operator can cut through any Tanky Enemy if you use Pramanix right? If Melentha can, a 3*, can outperform Flamebringer, a 5*, then doesn’t that say he is fact inherently worse then a 3*? Even if its only one 3* thats better then him, thats still saying something is inherently wrong with how he is made to do damage even if he was free.

Dipa by the time Flamebringer activates his S2 at least half of the totals enemies are possibly already dead, so you really don’t get the best possible use out if theres no longer any enemies to kill. His S2 is only at it’s best potential if there are still a lot enemies to kill, which means he is good for Annihilation. If Melentha can outperform Flamebringer, a 5*, it doesn’t make him bad but it does show us why he is needs some reworks to how he is built because the point is if a lower rarity Operator can do the sane Job as a Higher Rarity at the same pace then there is something wrong with that because isn’t the purpose of a 5* to outperform everything a lower rarity can do by miles?

Flamebringer is one of the handful of niche duelists I personally dubbed 'lockdown' in that they have decent ATK and stupid large HP, but usually garbage defense. The three operators I'd put in that category are Matoimaru, Franka and our Flamebringer here. The issue with ginourmous HP but poor defense is that most medics have trouble keeping up, but someone like Wafarin who can heal based off a % of the target's max HP can heal them for huge amounts at a time. Niche as heck? Sure is, but I'd say he has situations in which lockdown can help thin the herd and deal with high damage enemies when supported appropriately.
I only use Flamebringer because I don't have any other units that can do his job besides Melantha. Those two are my only high DPS Guards, so I don't really have a choice when it comes to high damage ground operators.
Essentially not worth the investment. There is a six star that outperforms him by miles, and a 3 star that performs his role adequately until you get the 6 star. He is cool though, so it's a shame.
I can think of a way to buff him. Make him block 2 enemies then his talent should let him hit all the blocked units so that he can proc his e1 skill faster

For melantha. Of course im talking about if you invested on melantha. Why switch on flame bringer. Even if you have franka or indra. And SP is not a problem if you have sp batteries like liskarm,warfrain,saria and ptilopsis. I get it flamebringer is good if you invest on him but its not that really worth it. Cause you can always use melantha. Much more easier to invest and dp cost is low. Instead on investing flamebringer invest on other dps survival guards like indra or franka. Well if you dont have those well go for flamebringer.
