Few characters get under my skin and this mf is one of them. They wrote him so unlikable and disgusting. So well done.

This is great analysis and I agree with most part, but there is on more important aspect of Sengoku. It's that he is victim of bullying in the past. He could be the future of victim bullied by Hayama.
That's why Sengoku is the best person for Hayama to face for his growth.
Hayama can't change past, and one of victim of his violence and abuse could be like Sengoku one day in the future. He can't do anything about it. Even apologizing to them would not solve issues. Damages are already done.
The only thing Hayama can do, is helping others from now on so he can save more people than he hurt. Just like he did with Komori.

Just watched it. Thanks for the analysis. I thought you covered everything that captured Sengoku's unpleasant yet important role in the series as whole. I think the original creator written him in a realistic light intentionally because his character showed the aspect of how some people view others in black and white lens instead of a morally grey perspective. In my opinion, Sengoku is my 6th favorite character after Akito, Sana, Tsuyoshi, Masako and Mr. Hayama. He's so unlikable and irredeemable yet I like controversial and divisive characters like him.

I feel like the manga had a missed opportunity on Sengoku's fate: In his final scene when Sana calls him out for his mistreatment of Akito and that he doesn't deserve to be a teacher, he nonchalantly tells her he was considering quitting anyway, but he has to wait until he can find another job. This was in Volume 8, then in Volume 10 (the final volume), Akito submits his transfer paper to what is presumably his homeroom teacher but we never see if it's Sengoku. Given that in the anime, Sengoku hints that he looks forward to receiving Akito's transfer paper, and the fact that we never never see the homeroom teacher's reaction to Akito's transfer, this could hint that Sengoku had already quit his job by then, but it was never confirmed.

Honestly I think I like the fact that obana slowly made him disappear from the story, cause he was done with his purpose and also showed the harsh reality about how even though there is a good point in everyone, there are just some people that can't change no matter what the circumstance is.
Also, Obana did a really good job at making him be the most hated charecter cause each time I see his face, especially in the manga, my blood starts boiling-

To be honest, characters like Sengoku ain't gonna change because of the path they have taken so set that they are not able to change anything about his outlook on life.
Thus the reason why Akito came to a realization that Sana was the only reason why he didn't go down the same path that Sengoku did.
Season 3 or even Season 4 if Kodocha went further would have been interesting to see if Sengoku ever returned.

Haven't gotten to this part of Kodocha yet, but I'm glad you touched on the irredeemable angle at the end, cuz a traditionally satisfying arc didn't seem called for to me.
I believe nearly all people deserve redemption, but at the end of the day, sometimes your seniors in life are immature psychopaths, and the level of emotional legwork it would take for Sengoku to step out of the victim box and grow as a person is not something life's taught him how to do. His abuse has left his spirit mangled in a way that these mere kids with their good intentions can't assuage.
His resignation plays into this perfectly too, he gets called out for his obviously terrible behavior, a lecture from a child with infinitely more emotional clarity and control than him, one who doesn't fit cleanly into his victim complex, and he just nopes out, his fragile ego broken.

Well said, thank you for watching! I completely agree. I think when we ourselves reach adulthood, it's a hard pill to swallow that our parents and other adults in our life can be stuck in these negative patterns.

With their creepy internalized coping mechanism and it's underlying issues left unaddressed for decades, such a pathetic example of a person truly shows the extent of Akito's growth in contrast, it's a beautiful thing.
