Great discussion, the momentum part really makes sense. It's quite a common theme in video game deckbuilders, it's nice to see it arrive in board games as well. You need to keep getting upgrades otherwise you'll end up falling behind and be unable to keep up! I really hope the final game will have more than what's been shown so far, 3 bosses seems a bit low? Even Aeon's end had 4 bosses and 8 heroes! I don't know how many heroes are in this box but it's unlikely to have more than 8 and even then, only 3 cards are different for each so all the playthroughs I've watched with different heroes haven't felt all that different (apart from the boss of course).
