  • This is the process to add a generic ONVIF Camera to Surveillance Station on a Synology NAS.
I am using a Synology DiskStation DS218+ running DSM version 7.1.1
The process is covered in five steps:
    1. Determine where you want to store recordings and how much space you have to work with
    2. Set up the recording location in Surveillance Station, along with a limit on the total space to use
    3. Find the current IP address of the camera you want to set up
    4. Make some changes in the camera itself
    5. Add the camera in Surveillance Station and configure the basic settings.
There are many more settings which you can change in the future if you'd like, and these settings may not work for all environments. However, it will at least get your camera up and running and Surveillance Station should start recording footage for you as well.
