Never realized until just today that the title comes from a discussion about Hell in Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov". Intelligent artists are the bomb.
It's a shame (to me) that David didn't do more of this great, dark insanity stuff. The folk style music is cool, but my favorite C93 stuff is definitely the early stuff.
Zachary Hallquist David himself only "sings", screams or talks on these old recordings. The dark mood was largely composed by the individuals involved at the time like John Murphy, Steven Stapleton or John Balance.
I agree with you, I love both but man... the early dark stuff is some of the most unmatched poetic atmospheric perfection ever to grace my ears. This is definitely 1 of my favs too. 🖤
@@zachhallquist2499 even later now! The folk stuff is good. I recently got way more into the Aleph at Hallucinatory Mtn years, and Birth Canal Blues, which I liked when they came out and all... but they aged quite well to me

got me on that one! I love Dost'y but I don't remember shadows of hooks.
One of the best songs of Current93. Gripping, stunning and narcotic. Amazing song.
the poignant sound of a thousand fallen angels weeping and wailing in constant agony.super.
This is truly one of the darkest songs I've heard in a long time. Just excellent.
One of my all time favorite songs. Completely transports me. I could listen to this atmospheric Current 93 track until the end of time.
u got it, man
