      Also, these aren't even close to the best saves, slapshots or jukes in the last 5 years, let alone last couple of decades. Datsuk alone had a career of highlights like the ones shown. Even though the pitcher catching the return ball is *crazy* impressive; it could've been more of other sports, including the ones that are excluded for some reason...

    • @RaventhortheWarrior
      @RaventhortheWarrior 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong, dirt is to help you run, it's not the basepath. Basepath is 3 feet to the side determined by when a tag is attempted. Because the tag was attempted near the grass, the new basepath can cut into the grass.
      Edit: look up a highschool game where a kid took a lead off first into the outfield. Because no tag is attempted he can go wherever he pleases. Once a tag is attempted he THEN has a 3 foot wide line to make it to second. Yes, the rule is the same in MLB.

    • @jey.1024
      @jey.1024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not too familiar either, but according to Google, this is what's happening:
      *Context:*
      The way baseball works (in VERY simple terms) is that a player (let's call him Player 1) from Team A is at home base and has to bat (aka hit the ball far into the field) in 3 tries. If he successfully hits it, the players from Team B in the outfield have to catch the ball and throw it to the 1st baseman (aka the player from Team B that guards first base). If the 1st baseman catches the ball and touches the base before Player 1 gets to 1st base, then Player 1 is out. If Player 1 gets to first base before the 1st baseman catches the ball or touches the base, then he is safe. If there are other players on the bases, they can risk getting out and run to the next base if Player 1 hits the ball. Usually, they can only run to the next base, like from base 2 to 3, because there is a player behind them who is running from base 1 to 2.
      *What's happening at **6:20**:*
      In the clip from the video, a player (let's call him Player 2) from Team A (black uniforms) is on base 2 when Player 1 hits the ball. He takes the risk of getting an out and decides to run to base 3, but since there is no one behind him (running from base 1 to 2), he can either go back to where he was initially (base 2) or go to the next base (base 3). In this case, players on Team B (white uniforms) can tag him while holding the ball and it will count as an out, meaning that they don't have to touch a base to get Player 2 out like usually. Player 2 manages to dodge them and makes it to base 3.
      You might be wondering why the 3rd baseman didn't just tag him to get Player 2 out. Well, he doesn't have the ball so he can't get him out. That's why you see the players on Team B (in white uniforms) throwing the balls to each other when they try to tag him.
      Like I said before, I'm not too familiar with baseball so if any baseball fans out there have any corrections/additions to what I said, it will be very much appreciated :)

    • @solo18343
      @solo18343 ปีที่แล้ว

      I play baseball, so here is basically what happened.
      The batter hit the ball and the ball bounced. Due to the ball bouncing the batter (running to 1st base) and the runner (running to 3rd base) are able to attempt to run to the next base.
      The pitcher caught the ball, and is trying to tag out the runner. They throw it to different positions, such as shortstop but they still can’t tag him out. The runner makes it to 3rd base and the 3rd base man can’t tag him out because he doesn’t have the ball. The runner and the batter are both safe. Once you make it to a base, you can’t be tagged out unless you leave the base. That’s what safe means. The 1st and 3rd bases have a runner on them.

    The baseball pitchers are simply insane. How can you catch that? That must be top tier human reflexes.

    Kerryon Johnson had ALL the potential to be our next franchise RB and one of the best in the NFL, he was awesome. But he was plagued with injuries. I also believe he kind of got used up in college. He was Auburn's workhorse... loved to watch him play. Such a bummer

    6:25 When the pitcher catches the grounder and starts going for the runner why doesn't he just reach down and tag him? he is like 3 feet away but he throws it to the guy at 2B to start the rundown. Is there something i'm not understanding? something happen off camera i didnt see with the runner at 1st? or just a poor judgement call by the pitcher to get rid of the ball?

    • @isaidwtfover
      @isaidwtfover 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't take a chance on the pitcher getting hurt. They throw it to each other to tire the runner out and not get tired themselves by chasing him.

    I better see Wes Welker's Superbowl 51 catch vs Atlanta, where he readjusted and grabbed it just before it hit the ground.
    Edit: Didn't see it but I did get the Tim Thomas save in the Stanley Cup Finals vs Vancouver I was hoping for. You can't get them all but Welker was a big one, at a big moment. And it does fit. Great video. Thanks.
