Hey Mick, I'm curious as to how you secured the crane to your alloy tray?

@Horny Toad I feel like if he was going to, it would have happened in the last few years lol.
But I bought a crane anyway and fitted it to an alloy tray just behind the passenger seat on a Falcon ute. And it's a bit tricky because not all trays are the same.. But I took one look at mine and decided straight away it just wouldn't be fair to expect it to handle the angles of load on it's own. So I hit up a local engineering firm. Had them throw together basically a triangle shaped bracket. It has a nice 1/2" plate on top that sandwiches the tray with the base of the crane, then 2x4 RHS connects @ 45deg down to the chassis rail itself, where it bolts into existing holes.
I never did get a clear answer from anyone as to how to correctly mount a crane like this. But I'm satisfied that my bracket is way better than nothing, and the guy who welded it up was 100% confident it would lift 400kg.. And not much more.. I've only really tested it to around 2-300kg, lifting engines,, heavy shop tools, generators etc.. But I've been completely happy with it at those weights.. Really not even a moment of concern. GL with your install.
