True, but then every single game that sells at 60 dollars has to face the fact that it costs as much as The Witcher 3 :) Say what you like about CDPR, but they set the benchmark ridiculously high.
@@GophersVids That wasn't my argument though. All three games are targeting a similar demographic of open world RPG with lots of play time. Then you can look at the quality within and judge from there, as well as who made these games (e.g. indie vs AAA). Lots of games out there I'd recommend over Starfield while being much smaller budget and shorter, and I'd value them as higher quality overall. As for CDPR setting that benchmark really high, I'd like to argue that Bethesda were benchmark setters a long time ago when they didn't have such competition. Now that they do have such competition, I hold Bethesda to those new high standards, which they do not meet when compared to even an almost decade old game (Witcher 3). It's fair game to compare them and their value proposition as a customer who's trying to make an informed purchase. EDIT: Heck I don't even need to compare to other studios. I can compare Shattered Space to Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC, and I don't think it comes even close to either of them. Many of the reasons were listed by you in the video too, such as vistas variety. Dawnguard had smaller places like Dayspring Canyon, but also big barren land in the Soul Cairn, which is offset by the beautiful, interconnected landscapes of Forgotten Vale. It also presented more choices in the RPG aspect (choosing Dawnguard or Volkihar) and more gameplay toys to play with (crossbows, vampire lord, werewolf expansion, etc).
@@MuraCasardis I would argue that Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 do not target an entirely similar demographic as Bethesda RPGs. What makes Betheda RPGs special (for me at least) is the freedom of character development. In Cyberpunk and The Witcher, the player plays the role of a pre-defined character. It doesn't matter how you make your character in Cyberpunk/Witcher, you are V/Geralt. This is why I only played through Cyberpunk (and the Witcher 3) once, while I've played through nearly all the Bethesda RPG games multiple times. (Fallout 4 is the one exception; I only finished FO4 once... Likely due to always feeling that I was playing as Nate/Nora whenever I tried to play through again. I was not a fan of the FO4 protagonists.) That said, I agree that Phantom Liberty and The Witcher 3's expansions provide a greater value than Shattered Space.

I was not trying to argue with you. You just happened to pick the CDPR expansion packs which pretty much put 99% of similar expansion packs to shame with their quality. I mean even Dragonborn and Dawnguard don't come close. And those are way better than Shattered Space.
@@GophersVids very true but shouldn't that be the expectation? if you buy a 30.000$ car you would expect it to perform like most 30k$ cars. Phantom liberty and the witcher 3 wine dlc are top tier from maybe better companies/devs but bgs said themselves it would be like far harbor which was an excellent dlc too (if you can believe the majority of the internet). So they set these expectations and i don't want modern AAA gaming going the way hollywood is going since a couple of years where even the slightest ciritcal thought is racist or whatever so with all that rambling i'm all for telling big companies when they shit the bed :). Good day to you good sir.
My biggest complaint is that the DLC didn't add enough toys to play around outside the DLC. No new perks, ship parts, new system, the new gears are disappointing both in quality and quantity, etc. I was initially running a new character for the DLC, but along the way, I realized not enough was changed to make the experience feel fresh again, so I went back to my old character.
For me this was also a pretty big letdown, particularly the "new" energy weapons. They are functionally reskins of the existing ones, the EditorIDs for them are even things like "VaruunOrion" for the Longfang.
Where are people getting all these expectations that there should be so much new stuff like ship parts? Why would they add new systems when there's already a thousand planets?
@SkintSNIPER262 Because the base game is deparately in need of improvements in many departments. Take melee weapons, for example, which is suffering from serious lack of variety. Also, by systems, I meant game systems, not star systems. Lastly, this was their big DLC debut, and a chance to clear some of the bad names, and costed $30. I definitely expected more.
That will be in the other drip fed, price gouged MTXs packs rebranded as "expansions." End of an era after Zenimax (BGS) started chasing nickel and diming monetizing to increase their valuation so MS would buy them up. Glad I got to enjoy their older games when they cared, before they got too old and rich and lost their passion. Its over for these now snake oil salesmen.
I am one of those people that didn’t like Starfield base game, but liked Shattered Space. More than anything, I wanted to join house Va’ruun. Easily, imo, the coolest group in Starfield. With this DLC, I finally get the do what I wanted to do most in the universe for roleplay. The writing was alright, better than Freestar, Pirates, or Corporate. I liked some of the creepy aspects they tried, and some of the npc interactions were really good(pretty much the side content). It has its flaws for sure, the city layout is bad, not a lot of new equipment, lackluster rewards, suffers from no consequences of actions like the base game. Like you said, going on this quest feels like joining a faction quest line. You are doing the Va’ruun quest line, and that feels weird as a DLC. Should have been base game or a cheaper price at least. I’ve completely finished the DLC now, and I don’t want to leave Dazra. The rest of the universe feels so boring in comparison to them.
@@GophersVids generally speaking, you may be correct in your claim. I might be the anomaly here. I think the fact the dlc takes place on a singular planet helped a lot for me.
I am on the same boat more or less, i did not dislike the game, i disliked the wasted potential that became more and more apparent the deeper you get into the game, from the background traits that get nowhere and even gopher seems to have tossed asside (i remember vaguely he picked the fan and then imediatly told him to go away, had the game more interesting writting maybe he would have met him again over the jorney , but instead is a, oh you did not want the perk, alright, bye), the fact they went out of their way to write a backstory 100 times more interesting that the actual game, where are the bloody mechs? is the player supposed to believe than even the pirates, in a universe where there is a planet filled to the guills with mech parts, would not use mechs cause "its ilegal!" same for using alien animals. I finished the story, don't plan on redoing it, and find it surprising that even Gopher has not abandoned the game by this point. Then again the man has a long story of managing to take bethesda's lack of effort and making good content out of barebones base
In 2012 we got Dawnguard. Sure you can justify the price, but out of that we got a couple of new areas and a bigger faction questline than any in the base game, which you could approach from two different allegiances. It was still criticised at the time for not offering enough value. For my part, I needed Shattered Space to properly address the criticisms of the base game and offer me some flavour. but swapping dull blue space vistas for dull pink ones isn't the answer.
I bought the Starfield premium edition which came with the DLC, so I checked it out when it released. Played it as I normally would (doing most side quests, listening to most dialogue, looting). Took me about 15-20hrs. Overall it was just ok. Gameplay felt the same as base game. Story was alright, cool to learn more about Va'ruun lore. Graphics/art style was actually good, took many photos. But I agree, it's just more Starfield. Doesn't really compare to DLCs like Dragonborn or Far Harbor. Hope they can now move on to ES6 and focus on their strengths (world/exploration, roleplay, replayability)
So you blew £100 on SF, as I did? Do you feel your money was well spent? I never imagined it could replace Elite Dangerous for me, but it did. In being a game I never play, but just boot up for 10mins every update or two... I've not played it all year. My MQ broke, I waited months for a fix, none came, and that was that. The most expensive game I've ever bought, by default making it one of the biggest disappointments. And I started on Morrowind. To be fair, I lost faith or hope in BGS with Oblivion, but by Skyrim I'd accepted what they became and enjoyed them for it - toymakers, not artists. Even as a toy, SF is poor. Fallout 4 genuinely seems so much more accomplished and, crucially, cohesive. SF made better structural decisions for a role-player, but executed on them poorly. Whereas F4 didn't even both to pretend to be a proper RPer, and at least committed to its fixed linearity. Shattered Space should never have demanded the player join that bunch of cartoon clowns. £30 is *expansion* pricing - not niche faction pricing. Such content should not require any RP commitment in that sense. As Gopher touched upon, Far Harbour should be the model for such expensive post-launch content. And Emil thinks this is their "best" game yet? He is an unfathomably deluded person, and I just hope - against all likelihood - he leaves the company before he can help ruin TESVI.
@@SkintSNIPER262 It was a joke. Did you actually read on? It's explained in the very next sentence. Elite died a slow, lingering death as its potential just never got realised. Now SF is my boot-on-updates-then-turn-off game.
@@SabiJD Got to say played it on Gamepass because I was unsure about a lot of the prerelease hype for Starfield. When I first played Starfield I was trying to play it like a BGS game and it varied from annoying to frustrating. When I started playing it by going from quest objective to quest objective with no real RPing involved it was a fun enough waste of time. However during my third NG+ the feeling of annoying to frustrating was back as the default experience. Since it was on Gamepass I think I had a better impression of the game then I would have had if I bought the game. It's strange because it was on Gamepass Starfield was a fine enough toy to borrow your metaphor but it's more like a dollar store toy my parents gave me to shut me up. Once the initial fun is done it went in the toy box never to come back out and I'm okay with that.
@@SabiJD I’m a PS guy, but I bought $100 Starfield on Steam and I even paid the $34 on gamepass, so I have about 180 hours in the game. Haven’t played the DLC but I guess Starfield filled a gap in space games (I Own both ED and NMS) but every time I go back I end up falling asleep playing. It’s disappointing hearing the non excitement behind Shattered Space.
You know what the best part of Dawnguard was? Serana. It was great DLC, but that's one of the best NPCs ever. So what does Bethesda do for Starfield? No new companions. The thing that is their strength, they ignore. They're just mailing it in at this point.
*"They're just mailing it in at this point."* - I don't always agree with criticisms like this, but honestly, that just rings a little true with this DLC.
Personally, I feel FO4's Nick Valentine is not only Bethesda's best companion, but that he even holds his own even with the likes of BG3 companions.. which is saying a lot. However, I get what you're saying, and by the standards of vanilla Skyrim companions (though not a high bar, admittedly), Serana was definitely a very high cut above the rest.
@@sonjaR2 Good call with Nick! Yeah, my point was Bethesda used to have a higher bar with DLC than what we just got with this new DLC for Starfield. It feels really low effort in comparison.
People aren't complaining because the DLC is bad, they are complaining that should be industry masters at this by now, that for a game of this size and scope with a studio of this pedigree, it should be a top hitter of the industry but instead they can barely attain even the barest of expectations, where it can achieve no better praise then "more of the same".
It's crazy to think that Bethesda released an open world space game and people stopped talking about it a week after release. Like imagining saying that to someone in 2011.
They lost their pedigree a long time ago. And,people ARE complaining that it's a bad game AND DLC. I watched a video the other day where the poor guy was just about in tears by Bethesda's lack of heart in this DLC. So,yeah,it's horrible and people ARE saying so.
Honestly, they've fallen off since FO4. It honestly seems like they haven't evolved since skyrim, and in some regards they seem to have gotten worse after skyrim
@@iomar90 People never stopped talking about it. Most people were hating it like you, but there is a sizeable crowd that still likes, talks and plays it - if there wasn't, they wouldn't have commited to a second expansion for next year
As many have speculated, i think its fair to say this DLC was one that was supposed to be part of the main game but they chose to expand on it a bit more and probably change elements about it then release it after launch. Makes even more sense then why they would include it as part of the deluxe edition. That said it also means whatever the next DLC is that is of larger scale will need to be a make or break moment whether or not it's going to capture the audience that was disenfranchised by starfield. I don't have NO hope for it, but I'm certainly not counting down the days before we hear about it
@@demistr7435 a valid point. Interest will be far less, and player counts will drop. I do think this DLC needed a much stronger push out the gate as far as reception...but I think Bethesda may also have the takeaway that they CAN fix games after launch with the likes of 76 and eso becoming relative successes long after release
@@demistr7435People said no one would care about Starfield this year too. I think some people let their own opinions of the game cloud the reality that there are actually people who play the game.
@@demistr7435 The many people who don´t like Starfield will not stop posting comments on this game so there will be kind of interest enough. But seriously - I see many flaws, not so many as others but what´s more important - Starfield has really big potential IF (yes, that´s a big if) the modding scene sees the potential as well. I´m playing the current Star Wars Genesis modlist and as a big Star Wars fan, this might be one of the greatest experiences when you like that franchise. The Bethesda style gameplay fits perfect to that universe. This modlist will grow bigger and bigger and that´s a good sign, even if you don´t like Star Wars or think it´s a silly idea to more or less completely change the base of a game. The reason why it´s a good sign - more people will notice the success of that modlist and maybe that will inspire others to think about other mods for the base game. The Alien franchise could fit perfectly, too. While I really get that Starfield is a disappointment for many, it´s by far not as bad as the loudest people want the world to believe. But to the original comment: I have doubts about further big sized DLCs. Maybe Bethesda gets a last chance, maybe they are so deep in the development of it, that it wouldn´t make sense to stop it, but Starfield clearly isn´t a big thing for Microsoft or the bigger audience. It´s not a cool game and outing yourself as someone who likes it is like speaking about your job at the tax office. Everyone I know who play games has an opinion on Starfield - not one has played it, even with a gamepass account.I don´t need more content, there is enough space in the game and we have enough tools to make endless more. I only want that Bethesda fixes the last bugs the game might have and - ok - that would be a cool thing - do some cool melee animations because they cannot be modded by now. We need them for lightsabers...
Seemed like a faction quest that was RIPPED out of the base game then rebranded as an expansion. Another missed opportunity for properly meaty writing, exploration/rewarding discovery and well thought out level designed dungeons/side areas/those damn soulless caves/POIs/etc. This faction quest being ripped out of the base game like we're all fools easily explains why the Varuun were oddly everywhere the Direct advertising but hardly anywhere in the base game. What a damn shame. End of an era when MS bought them up.
Seeems like we had very similar experiences, Gopher! The Soul Cairn comparison is spot on by the way - by the time I was almost 100% done with everything I was beginning to irrationally dislike the colour red and longed for the bright, sun soaked beaches of Paradiso. Yes, I needed an in-game holiday after the DLC... not sure if that says more about me or the game!
I think it's just the place. It's one of the reasons I feel Starfield falls a little flat compared to Skyrim. It's TOO alien for too much of the time. Even Morrowind, as alien as it might have seemed, was more 'normal'. Sure there were giant mushrooms instead of trees in some places, but even they felt oddly familiar. I think a lot of it comes down to lighting and colour as well. I found myself longing for browns and greens.
It was fine, I didn't think it was anything special but to be honest it was just sticking in my throat this feeling that it was cut content from the base game and they were charging half the price of the base game for it. I just couldnt get past that. If it had been half the price and something you bought from the creation club, okay I would have still been grumbling a bit about it feeling like cut content but I probably would have enjoyed it more. For that price, with the lack of any real significant changes to the core experience , not good enough bethesda, just not good enough!
This is how I felt, too. I honestly was hoping for at least a little more than this. Especially for $30.. from everything I have seen almost feels like this was cut from the base game early on, so they could have something to make their premium edition make sense.
@@arcadeportal32 yea I think after ‘Shadow of the Erd tree’ and ‘Phantom liberty’ this just isn’t what people expect from a AAA game studio DLC anymore.
Shattered space gave me FNV Dead money vibes in a way. Strange mysterious radio call for help to bring you in, city or world filled with ghost willing to destroy you, need to do 3 main objectives to get into the scaled tower. Then find out when you get in, ghost people tech or entities to be used to conquer the galaxy
It's fascinating to compare SS to something that is generally well loved like Dragonborn/Dawnguard / Far Harbor and seeing just how much work did not go into shattered space in comparison and then wondering "What the right snot went wrong during the development of this?"
This review right here exemplifies why I've been a subscriber for years, and trust Gopher regardless of the game he's looking at. Honest, legit positive/negative review of the content and ways to fix problems. Mad respect Gopher.
Andreja had a LOT to say to me at the end of the main quest but maybe that’s because we are married. Part of her dialogue was “I didn’t need another reason to love you, but I’ll always remember what you did for my people.”
@@randomthings1293What makes it worse is that for the daft price of £30, it should never have been locked to one [stupid cartoon... ] faction arc. It's too expensive for what it is, by most accounts (comparing it to, say, Phantom Liberty is just humiliating for BGS), but to be house-specific is awful. It does bring back memories of the atrociously misjudged and tone deaf Nuka World DLC; premium content you couldn't really go through unless you don't RP, or don't mind your Survivor suddenly developing a split personality disorder. Any high price *expansion* should provide an experience that's readily available to any type of RP.
Far Harbor, Nuka World, Automatron. Those are actually adding new content to Fallout 4, entirely new faction to the base game. Shattered space feels more like, if using Fallout 4 as comparison, the whole Commonwealth got attacked by synth and Institute lackeys, but we never see the actual Institute in the game. Then later, the Institute content got added to the game, parading as a DLC. This is, in my opinion, what you call "paid mod" being an incentive for the developer to be lazy, deliver a "just enough" base game, then sell all the cut content that should be there from the start as DLC.
@@GophersVids With all due respect what you might need to do is take a step back and reconsider the whole game from not a "Can i make a story out of this bland canvas" and more from a "Is this game and dlc, actualy interesting, for someone that did not spend the last 10 years learning how to ignore the faults and instead enjoy making stories" I like your videos, but i feel you might have Starfield being shown through some slightly tinted glasses, bethesda should not be applauded for taking about 2 steps foward while selling what might has well be cut content from the main game. I didn't. I just played this one for myself. Just sort of blasted through it in silence. Not sure what this has to do with Andreja actually having a new line. *" i feel you might have Starfield being shown through some slightly tinted glasses, bethesda should not be applauded for taking about 2 steps foward while selling what might has well be cut content from the main game."* - OK ...this seems to have nothing to do with this comment, nor does it seem to apply to the video or even myself. Are you mixing me up with someone else? Because I pointed out that this sort of content should NOT be made into a DLC.
I think the storyline forcing you to join the faction is reflective of the bigger issue with Starfield as a roleplaying game in that it's really more of a themepark with separate rides that don't really tie together into a cohesive experience. You have the different rides (quest lines) you can get on but once you're on, the quests more or less dictate how you can approach the problems and often even your attitude towards things. They usually completely fail to acknowledge any past interactions with the same characters. It can still be fun (and was for me), when the expectation matches reality, but it makes for a really poor roleplaying experience.
Speaking of Prey Gopher, did you ever end up playing the Mooncrash DLC? If not I highly recommend picking it up if you don't already own it, and playing it just for yourself when you have the time, as considering your opinion of Prey I think you would really enjoy it.
If you enjoy *watching* Prey, I highly recommend About Oliver's playthrough. He's kind of a master detective and able to deduce a lot of the connections in the lore. Blind, and goes nightmare difficulty with all survival options, and does a pretty good job at staying alive. I've watched lots of Prey, but I wasn't aware of everything he found.
@@gottagowork Thanks for the recommendation. My comment was not because I wanted Gopher to do a let's play of it (although I wouldn't say no), but because I asked him sometime ago on a live stream if he had played Mooncrash, and he said he hadn't, I think he would enjoy it, and this video reminded me.
>can't finish the whole game before launch EVEN AFTER 8 YEARS >decide to sell the last unfinished chunk 1 year later as a DLC costing half the original game, therefore making the original game cost 90 space bucks instead of 60 Maybe it wasn't this way. Maybe. But regardless this DLC just seems lazy compared to the story-based DLC's of FO4. Similar character choice vibes to Nuka World, though less enjoyable. Big fail compared to Far Harbour.
I've been pretty indifferent about Starfield and wanted to try the DLC just to learn more about House Va'Ruun and their cool planet, maybe play some dress up and take dramatic screenshots. And for that reason, I think the DLC is okay. A few quests were fun and interesting... but I'm not exactly eager to finish it. I don't regret buying it, but Starfield isn't saved.
Notice how when Gopher says there is tons of new dialogue, he follows with that there is a lot of lore to learn more about and things like that. As usual with Bethesda, they don’t actually write dialogue, there are no true conversations. There is one character who is an interviewer and servant, then there is the other, who is there to provide exposition and tasks. This is not at all a dig at Gopher or anything, I’m a massive fan, and I understand that our analysis of dialogue will depend on the standards Bethesda has set for themselves. The dialogue in Bethesda games work well if you do not care about roleplaying, but if you are actually trying to play a character, you quickly realize that not a single character in their games treat you like one. There are a few, very rare exceptions.
I played this with a new character who had just reached level 35 and was not yet starborn. I had Andreja with me but we hadn't yet reached the romance stage--during the end quest of the DLC she finally told me about her two friends we need to track down. She did have a lot to say, which was cool, and the quests were interesting enough, but yes, disappointing that there isn't enough new and different weapons or other things. Might play this another time as a starborn just to see if that's different, but to be honest I don't really enjoy the NG+ mechanic of Starfield.
For those of us who bought the Deluxe edition of Starfield at launch (or the pricier Constellation version), Shattered Space costs nothing additional. So, in that regard, you already paid for it (at a lower price, too, the Deluxe upgrade was only a $20 price-point difference). From an RP perspective, I did create a new character and selected the Serpent's Embrace trait (though not the House Va'runn background).
That "Missing Something" that you detail in the video is exactly how I've felt about EVERY SINGLE AREA in Starfield, when its good its fantastic but those moments where its like " okay. Where is..anything? Theres..nothing." Like when you go to London on Earth and the only thing is the shard? like..really? reaallly really? this is a fantasy game we can pretend that some other bits and bobs and explorables are still visible, wheres the trench that the Thames once filled, where are the weird Britishisms, because if the NASA Building over in Houston survived to have SO MUCH just for story purposes, then why not other places? Its literally one of the most "historically important planets" in the game and ..yet its just..Dust which seems like such a waste? and Other planets also lack that "SOMETHING" at times , even the ones with trees. I did actually by in large ENJOY the game but I wouldn't put it on my highest priority to play the DLC as compared to playing the new Zelda game or even Assassins creed (Grumble grumble Ubisoft...)
I think regarding the price, Bethesda / Microsoft should really overthink how they will sell the next DLC. Because Shattered Space really wasn't worth the money it costs. If it was 15 or 20 €/$, I think it would be okay, but definitely not 30. If the next DLC is of similar quality and pricing as Shattered Space, I don't think I'll buy that. I think for the sake of getting some goodwill from their customers, they should rebrand the Premium Edition and the Shattered Space Expansion as a season pass that gets you at the very least the next DLC as well. Only then would I consider it my money well spent. And the next DLC needs to actually deliver and be of Far Harbor quality, instead of being somewhere between Automatron and Nuka World in terms of quality like Shattered Space is, otherwise I am not seeing a bright future ahead for this game's future.
I spent £100 at launch, drifted away after my MQ broke, and haven't touched it all year, bar brief checks of updates (the vehicle is a joke. that control method on joypad is hideous). This faction-specific DLC just kinda makes me angrier. Unless their next premium add-on is, as you say, on par with Far Harbour, or Point Lookout (or Shivering Isles, though I never personally liked that), then they should not charge a single space dime. They're grifting off of the community via the """Creations""" tab already - they do not need another boost to revenue. I was waiting for mods to save/fix SF. BGS seem completely detached from reality, based on that muppet Emil's remarks, so they cannot be trusted to do it. But SF's flaws of design are so fundamental and technically structural that such hopes seem countered by all evidence up to this point. I so hope Emil leaves BGS before he can help ruin the next TES. I never really cared about Fallout. SF is a new [bland] IP. But Elder Scrolls? C'mon, they can't completely drop the ball on that, too... That's the IP that truly matters for Bethesda.
The whole join them to do it is what I was expecting and why I didn't buy it. Bethesda didn't learn from people complaining about Nuka World when they had no interest in becoming a raider and the huge letdown that main quest was when taking out the raiders... kill the leaders and turn the power on compared to dozens of quests letdown. Now this is worse, join a religious cult based on something one man said he saw and used to gain control to do anything but the start... Leaves a disgusting taste in my mouth. Bethesda didn't even give an alternative.
Welcome to modern bethesda, trying to milk their players dry and not learning a single thing from it cause they already have your money so if you don't send the extra you are not the type of people they are making their content for
People did have an interest in becoming a raider. People wanted to be evil, so they let them join the bad guys. You can reject the raiders and end the quest prematurely too. It's not like they don't give you a choice.
@@alexandrewildfire6405 Well, I think it'd be bit unrealistic for them to address the problem in the base game retrospectively. The best they could do is add onto it retroactively using DLC gameplay mechanics. If you tamper with the core of the story, it's gonna break the game. Nuka World is inherently an evil DLC and rejecting it outright is a choice and one that's even acknowledged by the game itself. Like Phantom Liberty, you can miss out on the main quest if you do something "wrong", but it'll still let you engage with most of the content including some sidequests.
@@StoneAgeWarfare Did you read what I said? People =/= everyone, in the case of what I said it is the people that had no interest in joining the raiders and they spent all that money for a 1 hour long quest that was underwhelming for a 1 hour long quest. Nothing I said had anything to do with people that wanted to join the raiders, those people got their moneys worth and maybe complained that it wasn't long enough. And now it is pay for DLC that forces you to join a cult when you don't want to and no letdown 1 hour long quest. This is worse than Nuka world for those that have no desire to join a cult and it's even worse for atheists. That is a valid complaint regardless of the people that are fine with joining or wanted to join from the start but couldn't. My complaint about Nuka World is just as valid. Again, People =/= Everyone.
There is a known bug that prevents some or all dialogue from companions during shattered space. Iv'e heard that Starfield community patch fixes that bug, but i don't know for sure.
My review, marked informational, on Steam was: “It's more Starfield. If you enjoyed the base game, you'll likely enjoy this. If you didn't, they didn't add much, if anything, to improve the base game.” Basically the same as what you just said. :P
Do you have any examples? Cause I doubt Bethesda would go through the trouble of adding voices to npcs outside of the scope of the dlc. Given the fact the lever action from far Harbor is still broken to this day I don’t give Bethesda much of my hope anymore.
My character is a fence sitting borderline sociopathic chameleon. I even have him pretending to love andreja (in my head canon.) So thankfully this will be easy lol.
If you enjoy the base game there's practically no reason for you not to get the DLC, just beware that it is a story DLC, and it basically doesn't bring any additions to the base game besides a few weapons and armor.
Yet its people who enjoyed the base game that are its biggest critics on Steam. A lot of Bethesda Fanbois are feeling extremely ripped off by that $30 price tag. Its more expensive than Blood and Wine and the same price as Phantom Liberty-both of which offered much bigger gaming experiences than Shattered Space.
@@TheMarcHicksBethesda fans are just in an abusive relationship. We know we're paying for effectively somewhat polished mods as DLC. We will cry about it later. Yet we continue to buy...
Yes it does. What are you talking about? Plenty of choices that affect the base game. Just say you don't know what you are talking about. Start the second crusade or side with the speaker spreading the phantoms. Two separate choices among the others.
If you are older quests in Starfield (I was playing at Level 86, NG+1) The player and Andreja have new dialogue options that were not in the base game. Unfortunately, some of those options don't help the side quest stories and, in some cases, feel out of place.
to me starfield failed on 3 fronts and how to fix it fast: 1. writing, it's just bland and boring, perfect example is 3 terrormorphs attacking new atlantis?... totally underwelming, they where sleeping waiting for me one by one, they died in seconds... writing at this point is unfixable but can be improved with gameplay, making it exciting... insted of 3 terrormx... do like, build defenses, arm guards... prepare, and confront waves more and more difficult (yes you would have to delete old corpses so the engine can handle it) but boring story can be improved with gameplay (just an example, apply it to all quests). 2. space is empty and boring, mainly it's just a fast travel hub with some lame or easy random encounters, fix: fill it with different things to do and strong and good gameplay loops, i don't know, spacewalks to fix the ship after a battle, fix a space station, build space stations, conquers sectors, better bounty hunting, mining, fuel usage, space trucking, space horrors in derelict ships, in system travel with better random encounters and POI between, space dungeons, whatever, buff the hell out of space activities and ways to deal with it. 3. procedural generation, i don't think it's a bad system (for things outside of the handcrafted quests and locations), just make it work with the above systems, like, these more fleshed out gameplay loops and activities, sends you to a procedural generated POI or dungeon, but is fully a new POI, mix and match the dungeon rooms, or space POIs, enemies, ships, traps, asteroids... all the stuff, so almost every one feels new... right now i just make the cryo facility over and over again.... so procedural content, serves the main game like a background. (and as a bonus please add some more diverse, complex and deep companions, almost all the main ones are just one sided good guys) i just runed with like the russian chick, she's not judging me all the time.
I wonder if it was actually cut content from the base game. It's odd that the faction was referred to and you have a companion from them but there's no further mention.
I never finished Starfield, hell I never even really started the main questline. I did sidequests first to try to get money for gear and help kit out my ship so I could have my 'home base' with all the crap I'd store for crafting and stuff. Course I had to keep making it bigger or otherwise expanding my cargo capacity. And I hit some fun questlines. But things just, well, never felt good. Gun wise or gameplay wise after you gotta clear out another abandoned base taken over by raiders/smugglers/pirates/ect. And I tried actual base building, got very bored cause I couldn't get the materials to actually build the things I need/wanted. So, here comes the DLC and it's a faction questline (which is odd, you'd think they'd want all that in the main game, or at least have ways around it or make it more interesting). Don't get me wrong, DLC has done faction questlines before... but they've typically been NEW factions that they added with the DLC, like Dawnguard giving the titular Dawnguard and the Vampires. Va'ruun is very much mentioned and part of the main game, so having a 30 dollar DLC to handle them feels weird and bad. Maybe if it was half that at most. Either way, more Starfield doesn't really excite me. Maybe I should restart the game, and just do MSQ.
I recommend you getting to know all the companions, by taking them to all the faction quests, then get their individual quests. For example start the uc quest with sarah, make sure you please her. Etc Then continue to the constellation main quest, trust your most beloved companion to remain behind in the lodge when you hear Vladimir at The Eye station make a distress call. Then you have to continue onwards, getting all powers till they level to X (10). You do the first game all nice and pleasing your companions. Then in newgame+, you let all your experience and feelings decide on whether you want to remain always being the same good, or seeing where you fall.
There is no shame in not playing it more, the game has a few good points, but they get drowned in the sea of bladness, exploration is boring, the universe does not make sense, the companions are generic and mostly boring, the factions are boring and most are covoluted so you don't finish it too quickly, and the story is a mess that gives you no reason to play it more than once, choices don't change a thing other than the ending, all planets not part of the main story are just procedural generation. Some people can enjoy it, but its, if not a lost cause, one that would require the lead writer to go away or get off his high horse
I really liked the final mission. The climactic nature and sheer enemy density reminded me a lot of the Skyrim civil war. Bethesda should put more of that in their future content.
5:45 "take andreja with you she's got tons of dialogue, i mean a lot to say...." So many players are reporting the exact opposite. They took Andreja expecting a lot, but found little if any special interaction from her! Edit: ah, you addressed this. I will have to play it for myself to find out.
When I saw this video come up, I started Shattered Space. I had been waiting for it to stabilize a bit first. In the meantime, I avoided any videos about it, wanting to experience it fresh. I am glad I did. Yes, it took me a lot longer than six hours being the kind of player who likes to explore and smell the roses. What I came away with is an enchantment with this very strange culture. I met a lot of interesting NPCs with stories that helped flesh out the culture and politics. Overall, I love Starfield. I love exploring the planets. I love the music. I like the NPCs. Is it repetitive? Of course it is, but so is every game with all the repeatable content. Look at how many people hate Preston. He doesn't deserve that hate. He's an interesting character if you ignore the repeatable stuff. All the complainers and naysayers depress me. I look forward to replaying Shattered Space in the next iteration of my character, maybe trying new things and ways to push my character.
I enjoyed it, & was happy with the additions, exploration & extra lore. The unique landscape, atmosphere & mechanics were fun & interesting to interact with. Overall if you enjoy Starfield it's an excellent addition to the game. My only gripes were story wise, I didn't like being the center of the story, but you are put into this 'hero' role like the majority of the other major questlines which is getting a bit old, the story also feels like it comes to a very sudden & abrupt end. It felt very jarring at the end, like you were going 100mph then suddenly it's over, characters didn't really seem to react to the end event, it was just finished & I really feel like there needs to be a break at the end, more dialogue wrapping everything up. As it stands it felt really awkward at the end, and I was just left standing in an empty house, in Andreja who had nothing to say.. I'll look forward to some more exploration tonight & wrapping up a couple of side-quests and next time playing it has a proper & zealous believer in the great serpent! 😂
I agree with this. This is my biggest issue with the expansion. The main story just grinds to a halt and ends all of a sudden. If at least 1-2 more hours was added to the main story, then I feel the expansion would've been stronger.
People may still be complaining but this DLC addressed several issues that people criticised the base game for. Its all contained hand curated content with unique POIs. The Lost and Found and follow up quest although short were very poignant and probably the most memorable side quests. The new equipment is really great looking even if some of them are reskins or mashups. The new armor is probably my favourite in the game so far besides UC Sys Def which is really hard to find.
The reason I tried it was hope. It didn't help much. After about 30 minutes I was tired of it. Reminds on Event Horizon. At least the start. I find it quite fascinating that you have so much fun with this game. I'm guessing we are almost the same age so we both have seen a lot games. But I can't find no fun in this game. The lack of exploration, which always was the key for their games is not good in this game. Typical writing, Typical bugs and AI behavior and on top of that all the loading screens. After all these years, Starfield was the first Bethesda game which got un-installed after a few weeks. A few weeks ago I tried it again. I needed to force myself to finish it and I guess I'm done with it now. Starfield misses all key features that kept me playing all other games before. They must create at least 100 more random assets to avoid running into the same location again and again. That was the point where I lost it. I was exploring a listening station for fun and after that I decided to follow a quest. It took me lightyears away on a planet. Just to find the same station, which all the same enemies and loot at the same place. Like totally brainfuck. After discovering the totally low number on assets it was quite clear that I will run into this moment almost on every planet. And this sucks. And so I lost the interest on this game. Like many I guess.
I think it makes some sense. An actual extreme, fundamentalist group would adopt a "with us or against us" approach. And considering their isolationism, they wouldn't like dealing with outsiders.
I enjoyed the Base game and now playing though Shatered Space And in short I will say game has a potential and heart so do speak. But it's packaged badly if ya get what I mean
The way the dialogue is delivered, and the lack of cinematography (different angles, cuts, perspectives) during conversations is what's lacking in Starfield tbh. Too...'flat'.
Honestly, this DLC felt like part of the main game. I have to remind myself every once and awhile that it's not. But if your a Dragaon Age origins fan, it's basically Orzammar (dwarf city) and then the rest of Starfield is basically the non dlc version of that. Though bounty hunter stuff hasn't released part 3 yet. (nor do I think it will.)
Having finally gotten to play Starfield, I couldn't disagree more. Someone else has already said "Shattered Space is for people who hated Starfield" and it is a perfect summary. Everything great about the base game: the planet-hopping exploration; starship combat; interesting NPCs with meaningful interactions; interfaction conflict, is all quite literally parked at the spaceport and unused for the entire DLC. House Va'Ruun is a joke of a faction that did not need expansion on, unless it received the Crimson Fleet treatment so you could wipe them out. If future DLC takes place outside the Settled Systems, it should be centered around the core of the game: Constellation and space exploration. Otherwise, stay in the Settled Systems and expand on the factions that actually matter.
Yeah, apparently there is a companion bug. Supposedly the companions should be commenting on a lot of the "main" questlines. That's what I've seen people say anyway. They all said sweet FA after any quest in my playthrough, even main story quests... Never mind anything else. So, I just stopped using them because they seemed just boring and never talked. Actually, if anyone reads this and knows how to fix that feel free to explain please. I started a new character for the DLC and barely got past the Constellation intro quest so... That'd probably improve my experience somewhat. lol
Gopher a lot of us have been where you are, clinging onto past glories from a studio who once could deliver a game that was fun. The tone deaf response from Emil all but confirms the Bethesda we loved is long gone. It's sad.
I appreciate you playing through the DLC Gopher. I didn't really like the base game, and was really bummed that the seemingly most interesting faction wasn't even in the game aside from their lovely constellation member. I figured they'd be shown off more in the DLC but by the time I finished the game I was too burnt out to care and don't expect I'll be buying it anytime soon. It saddens me that Bethesda is no longer the company I once loved, but it breaks my heart that they seem to show few to no signs of returning to what they once were.
I will say I'm on my second playthrough start it out unmodded now on my modded playthrough and on my modded playthrough I have not finished her quest.... It even affects her quests in a minor way but still affects it and I thought it was pretty cool that they took into account the full scope of her. And as for the dialogue at the end she does make a comment before the initial decision....
Thanks for the balanced response. Too many reviewers just sound insulting or condescending to those of us who actually like Starfield. This dlc and the main game depend on, like you said, what you want from the game. There is no way that any game will please everyone. To use your example about Far Harbor vs Nuka-World, I very much preferred the latter. I play games for enjoyment, and I watch TH-cam videos for the same reason. I have unsubscribed from several channels for insulting content regarding Starfield. Keep up the good work, even if we disagree 😊
I finished the Shattered Space main quest a couple of days ago. I still have 2 side quests to complete & more locations to find. Overall, it’s a good DLC. 8/10 for me. I wanted more lore on va’arun & I definitely got that. The convoluted political structure of this cult and the slow reveal of the speakers sinister plans was well done. Plus some of the side quests and other locations had me hooked. My main nitpicks: we needed more unique weapons/armor, Andreja needed to say more, this DLC should be $15, and I wish we had a cool spaceship battle. Also yeah I joined this crazy cult but I didn’t fully commit to it. Actually I mocked it lol 😂.
I didn't expect Shattered Space to change the game in a significant way but still wanted to hear your thoughts on the DLC. Go play Prey people, heavily underrated game that deserves way more love than it got!
I have 168 hours put into Starfield, 1 character, level 75. Now how do I have no idea what gun his character is using the majority of these clips?! 🤦🏼♂️😅
The DLC has crazy amounts of particle effects (way above what was needed). Enough for even my near top tier system. If you have studders, especially in the tower. Turn down the particle effects to resolve. You can raise it afterwards. As far as the DLC goes, overall, I feel that the Natural Disaster gives you a feeling that you MUST focus on it at the cost of the rest of the content, unlike the "Fog" in Far Harbor giving you a feeling that you can take your time. I feel that this backfired and created all the "Not enough content" complaints.
yep "It's more Stafield" does sums it up pretty well. Personally i'm convinced they had too many ideas for this one, like we needed either "unnatural disaster" horror story OR the house Va'ruun cultural exploration and political infighting story, they try to do both and neither of them was as good as they could had been.
Played it for about an hour. While I enjoyed getting to the new planet and the opening narrative, I ended up getting bored rather quickly. There's a particular mini quest that triggers after walking out of the gate, it was one of those "automatic" quest that you pick up from overhearing a conversion. Those particular types qusts, were the reason I installed the mod Take Your Own Time. It "blocks" those types of qusts, but only in the Bade Game. I did have fun with the Rev-8 while exploring but then again I can drive that anywhere. Oh and there are new Melee weapons you must have missed. They looked fun, but I didn't get a chance to try them. I did try one of the new rifles, but only briefly. I went back to my Legendary SMG. By the way, I used my level 100+ Character that I beat the game with (NG+ 10). Oh and I bought the Premium Edition, when SF first released. Cheers. Edit Base* Game
I prefer DLCs that expands and makes the whole game richer, and extra mission / story elements are cool but every aspect of the game gets better. But i guess this will be the modding communities job.
I just had to ask myself, "Is it worth 6 dozen of eggs?" 16:27 Gopher is so right, Prey (even though not the sequel we wanted), was a great game. For me I liked it better than BioShock and I thought that was a SytemShock perfected.
I bought the Fallout 4 season pass for the introductory price of $25, so even if you you throw out the workshop items, that's less than $10 per expansion. Easily worth the price. This one is a much tougher sell.
I've been playing Shattered Space since day one and have not had a single crash. This seems to be how things are for me quite frequently. Lucky, I guess.
Yeah, premium edition here. Haven't started the dlc yet since it isn't something my character would do. I'll wait till I start a new Ve'run/Andreja focus character.
@@mysteriousfox88 Yeah, am nearing the end of the MQ, so that was my plan. Just honestly not very motivated to finish it. I think the Starborn are the worst Bethesda antagonist so far and I was let down by their reveal.
I think a quick synopsies of the plot. Would be way funnier to be like?Yes, this is it, and it is cause.Do it seriously, just do it.Just try it, do it and then compress it as smaller as you can.Get it and you you'll be like how
Weird. I really want to like Starfield. I played like 100 hours with a good mod setup. I enjoyed it. Really did. And then I switched to an entirely new PC, couldn’t bother to re-create that same mod setup, that was about a year ago and never played it since. New DLC, expected it to bring me back, watched this, not getting the vibes. I guess I’ll just keep being hooked to Baldur’s Gate.
Andreja is a little bugged, i Think 4 hours after ending the main quest going from my ship to varuun Kai she had conversation about what she Thought of the choices and then 1 hour later the other companions had stuff to say , so seems a little bugged

i hated starfield at launch and all the issues and like the hubris of bethesda refusing to have brightness or hdr settings or even city maps, but im enjoying it now because i got all the mods to fix all the broken garbage and tweak everything, and the rev 8 makes planets 100x more tolerable than running in a straight line for 1000 meters . im enjoying it and playing main story, not endlessly grinding procgen content but doing some space bounty missions is fun. a lot of the stuff is still poorly designed but its way more tolerable now
Full disclosure I am not a fan of starfield (if I'm honest I kind of hate it), but the trailer for this made it look sooo awesome. It looked dark and cool. The gameplay and details I've seen since it released just doesnt look like that trailer. It looks lame, which is my greatest gripe with SF in general. No teeth or guts just, here it is.
It seems interesting that you're reporting tons of dialogue from Andreja while others are reporting barely any at all; makes my wonder if she's heavily bugged for many
I'd be interested to see their sales figures for this, say, one month after release. To see, how many people would agree with me, that this is just not worth it for the money, just as Starfield wasn't really worth it for full price. Most of those, who are interested in it, but have an embarrassment of riches of games to play, can very comfortably wait until a complete edition of Starfield costs itself 30 dollars or less. There are games, that put us in a rush to play them: when they're very highly praised or are played by our friends or we're a fan of the franchise or developer or we're suddenly nostalgic for games from the past Starfield just isn't one of these (for me).
Damn that's crazy. A guy who made his career playing Bethesda games basically saying go play Prey, it's better. How the mighty have fallen. They better really innovate with ES6, or everyone is gonna be so pissed.
I regret paying extra to get early access and shattered space from the very beginning. Sadly once I realized that it's garbage I couldn't refund it anymore.
I did not care for Starfield, but I'm on the fence about the DLC. in my case, though, I didn't get far into the main Starfield quest and haven't played it since early on, so a lot has probably changed. with mod support being a bigger thing now, it might be worth reinstalling the game and seeing if I can fix my complaints with the base game. I just have one question- have they fixed the bug where your ship interior takes off without the rest of the ship and the only way to unfuck that is to get rid of the ship? because that was the thing that made me finally quit the game originally
Reminder that this costs as much as Phantom Liberty, and as much as Witcher 3's two expansion combined.
I was not a fan of the FO4 protagonists.)
That said, I agree that Phantom Liberty and The Witcher 3's expansions provide a greater value than Shattered Space.
@@MuraCasardis *"That wasn't my argument though. All three games are targeting a similar demographic of open world RPG with lots of play time.
I wouldn't have the minerals to make that kind of comment
@@General-Doge I agree
Thanks for that info. It's nice to know that me second guessing my own claim was the right thing to do :)
That’s exactly what this was. A faction line. Arguably should’ve just came with the base game.
I'm glad somebody enjoyed it, at least.
3:38 "These people should be focused on what is important... and then I remembered real life" 😂😂😂
In 2012 we got Dawnguard.
@@SabiJD Really comparing apples and oranges when bringing up Elite Dangerous.
It’s disappointing hearing the non excitement behind Shattered Space.
tldr: Emil is a hack lol.
You can recruit Sahima as a companion.
@@GophersVidsyou’re right about disliking the criticisms because most of them are wrong and wouldn’t even be seen if the game was doing well
Nice, I'm never here for the short version.
@@iomar90people were trying to talk about it but Bugthesda eaters were shouting at everyone trying to warn others not to waste money.
I don't have NO hope for it, but I'm certainly not counting down the days before we hear about it
The next DLC wont likely come out for about a year. No one will care about Starfield at that point. People barely care now.
But to the original comment:
I have doubts about further big sized DLCs.
Very good comparison I agree it felt that way too, to an extent.
I got a lot of Old World Blues vibes from the color palette.
Starfield is an example of a studio not understanding their audience and what makes their games special.
This DLC should have had a 14.99 price tag. 30 was just too much for what we got.
This single quest mod ripped off the base game should have had 4.99 price tag. 14.99 is way too much for what we got.
Compared to the $10 single bounty hunter mission it's a steal.
It's not a single quest mod. Not sure what made you think that. There is an entire main questline with 8 seperate quests PLUS at least 11 side quests.
@@GophersVids Sorry, single quest- _line_ . I stand by what I said.
Andreja does have ending dialogue but it doesnt pop up for a little while after finishing
OH! OK, so I need to go back and play some more.
@@GophersVids With all due respect what you might need to do is take a step back and reconsider the whole game from not a "Can i make a story out of this bland canvas" and more from a "Is this game and dlc, actualy interesting, for someone that did not spend the last 10 years learning how to ignore the faults and instead enjoy making stories"
I like your videos, but i feel you might have Starfield being shown through some slightly tinted glasses, bethesda should not be applauded for taking about 2 steps foward while selling what might has well be cut content from the main game. A small improvement does not negate the many negatives with the game and dlc

My comment was not because I wanted Gopher to do a let's play of it (although I wouldn't say no), but because I asked him sometime ago on a live stream if he had played Mooncrash, and he said he hadn't, I think he would enjoy it, and this video reminded me.
>can't finish the whole game before launch EVEN AFTER 8 YEARS
>decide to sell the last unfinished chunk 1 year later as a DLC costing half the original game, therefore making the original game cost 90 space bucks instead of 60
Maybe it wasn't this way. Maybe. But regardless this DLC just seems lazy compared to the story-based DLC's of FO4. Similar character choice vibes to Nuka World, though less enjoyable. Big fail compared to Far Harbour.
As always, so appreciative of your balanced and honest takes.
Thank you Gopher, I really appreciate the honesty as always.
This DLC just felt like the 5th faction quest that they didn't finish in time for release
I did actually by in large ENJOY the game but I wouldn't put it on my highest priority to play the DLC as compared to playing the new Zelda game or even Assassins creed (Grumble grumble Ubisoft...)
this is the review i have been waiting for too many bash or praise. good to see an honest review.
Seems like an indication this was a cut faction quest that they turned into a paid DLC...
As a guy who loveS the base game, and the DLC, this is accurate
@@manolobridgante6095 same
The whole join them to do it is what I was expecting and why I didn't buy it.
@@StoneAgeWarfare i think the point is unless your choices being, become a raider or ignore nuka world. The lack of alternatives is the problem there
@@alexandrewildfire6405 Well, I think it'd be bit unrealistic for them to address the problem in the base game retrospectively.
I totally agree with your recommendation of Prey, it really doesn't get enough love.
There is a known bug that prevents some or all dialogue from companions during shattered space. Iv'e heard that Starfield community patch fixes that bug, but i don't know for sure.
Thanks Gopher for a very balanced and reasonable take.
My review, marked informational, on Steam was: “It's more Starfield. If you enjoyed the base game, you'll likely enjoy this. If you didn't, they didn't add much, if anything, to improve the base game.” Basically the same as what you just said. :P
The Dialogue in the rest of the universe can be affected by your House Varuun experience
Do you have any examples? Cause I doubt Bethesda would go through the trouble of adding voices to npcs outside of the scope of the dlc. Given the fact the lever action from far Harbor is still broken to this day I don’t give Bethesda much of my hope anymore.
since there are nearly no new lines for the varuun follower i doubt that highly
Ummm.... really? Any videos on that?
Lol. Still utterly pointless.
"No reason"? What about paying 30$ for a *single **-quest-** questline* that doesn't even have an evil ending?
Yes it does. What are you talking about? Plenty of choices that affect the base game. Just say you don't know what you are talking about. Start the second crusade or side with the speaker spreading the phantoms. Two separate choices among the others.
@@TheMarcHicksdunno about that. Looks more like those unhappy with base didn't like dlc either. Many people who enjoy Starfield like the dlc too
If you are older quests in Starfield (I was playing at Level 86, NG+1) The player and Andreja have new dialogue options that were not in the base game. Unfortunately, some of those options don't help the side quest stories and, in some cases, feel out of place.
to me starfield failed on 3 fronts and how to fix it fast:
1. writing, it's just bland and boring, perfect example is 3 terrormorphs attacking new atlantis?... totally underwelming, they where sleeping waiting for me one by one, they died in seconds... writing at this point is unfixable but can be improved with gameplay, making it exciting... insted of 3 terrormx... do like, build defenses, arm guards... prepare, and confront waves more and more difficult (yes you would have to delete old corpses so the engine can handle it) but boring story can be improved with gameplay (just an example, apply it to all quests).
2. space is empty and boring, mainly it's just a fast travel hub with some lame or easy random encounters, fix: fill it with different things to do and strong and good gameplay loops, i don't know, spacewalks to fix the ship after a battle, fix a space station, build space stations, conquers sectors, better bounty hunting, mining, fuel usage, space trucking, space horrors in derelict ships, in system travel with better random encounters and POI between, space dungeons, whatever, buff the hell out of space activities and ways to deal with it.
3. procedural generation, i don't think it's a bad system (for things outside of the handcrafted quests and locations), just make it work with the above systems, like, these more fleshed out gameplay loops and activities, sends you to a procedural generated POI or dungeon, but is fully a new POI, mix and match the dungeon rooms, or space POIs, enemies, ships, traps, asteroids... all the stuff, so almost every one feels new... right now i just make the cryo facility over and over again.... so procedural content, serves the main game like a background.
(and as a bonus please add some more diverse, complex and deep companions, almost all the main ones are just one sided good guys) i just runed with like the russian chick, she's not judging me all the time.
I wonder if it was actually cut content from the base game. It's odd that the faction was referred to and you have a companion from them but there's no further mention.
they have lots of mention and a full embassy in the main city of the game.
Etc
Then continue to the constellation main quest, trust your most beloved companion to remain behind in the lodge when you hear Vladimir at The Eye station make a distress call.
5:45 "take andreja with you she's got tons of dialogue, i mean a lot to say...."
So many players are reporting the exact opposite. They took Andreja expecting a lot, but found little if any special interaction from her!
Edit: ah, you addressed this. I will have to play it for myself to find out.
btw @Gopher Andreja did have dialogue for the ending but its currently bugged Community patch has made a patch for it
When I saw this video come up, I started Shattered Space.
You know gopher is bethesda veteran because he brags about only getting 4 crashes in this tiny dlc after verifying the files and updating his drivers
I absolutely agree 1000% about the "forced to join" or you can't help view!! That was my biggest gripe about this DLC!
I think it makes some sense. An actual extreme, fundamentalist group would adopt a "with us or against us" approach. And considering their isolationism, they wouldn't like dealing with outsiders.
I enjoyed the Base game and now playing though Shatered Space
And in short I will say game has a potential and heart so do speak.
“I’m afraid it’s more complicated and you won’t be getting a short version”
Do we ever? This a gopher vid after all
Having finally gotten to play Starfield, I couldn't disagree more.
Yeah, but not on the decision you actually make. That feels odd to be honest.
Not brilliant but not catastrophic is basically Starfield in a nutshell for me. I don’t hate it, but I don’t think it’s particularly impressive.
A great man dressed as a giant cat once said “you can tap it with a hammer, it ain’t gonna change.”
Cheers.
Edit
Base* Game
I prefer DLCs that expands and makes the whole game richer, and extra mission / story elements are cool but every aspect of the game gets better.
But i guess this will be the modding communities job.
I just had to ask myself, "Is it worth 6 dozen of eggs?"
16:27 Gopher is so right, Prey (even though not the sequel we wanted), was a great game. For me I liked it better than BioShock and I thought that was a SytemShock perfected.
Soul Cairn is a SUPER valid comparison.
I love when you praise Prey because it deserve that and more
I wonder if the reason this feels like more starfield is because this was meant to be base game, but they didn't finish it in time so they made it dlc
Yeah, premium edition here.
Haven't started the dlc yet since it isn't something my character would do. I'll wait till I start a new Ve'run/Andreja focus character.
just cross the unity, nothing matters in the multiverse
@@mysteriousfox88 Yeah, am nearing the end of the MQ, so that was my plan.
Just honestly not very motivated to finish it. I think the Starborn are the worst Bethesda antagonist so far and I was let down by their reveal.
Content is content, already paid for it so better than nothing (if I have new areas to loot and NPC's to have dialogue with, I'm relatively happy)
Yeah. Chances are good if people play a roleplaying game, they will roleplay. :)
It seems interesting that you're reporting tons of dialogue from Andreja while others are reporting barely any at all; makes my wonder if she's heavily bugged for many
I'm sorry Mr. Todd Howard, I don't think mods can fix this...
2:00 ......is it wrong to want to play a game that has 0 crashes?
8:28 The place's hue is very limited and thus gets boring to the eye. got it
It's not wrong to want a crash free experience at all.
4:43 Finger rifle!
👉😎🫴
Thanks, Gopher
Damn that's crazy. A guy who made his career playing Bethesda games basically saying go play Prey, it's better. How the mighty have fallen. They better really innovate with ES6, or everyone is gonna be so pissed.
I regret paying extra to get early access and shattered space from the very beginning. Sadly once I realized that it's garbage I couldn't refund it anymore.
Internet goldfish? Now I want a tee-shirt
