Even in the recordings it doesn't seem like he's striving to be a great singer, cause I don't think that's the point, his singing is a unique part of what makes this band perfect
I prefer him over stu. I realize most people feel the opposite but I think this line up here is peak. His vocals aren't as abrasive got me like Stu. His were often a little too up and down for more. I feel like these are more natural and just feel better. Eveyone is different. Both are fantastic but love this dude.

Is Tim using a spider capo?? Or like a third hand kind of capo?? If so that is goddamn amazing I have yet to see a band utilize one, aside from solo acoustic percussion guitarists on like Candyrat and such. Mad respect for these guys, they are amazing, and Henry with that bass too, damn.
+Bryan Yazzie Yep, thats a spider capo :) It kinda stinks though, since now I'll have to learn this song in an even weirder tuning :P (Dont have a spider capo)
+Aneesh Sharma haha I wouldn't recommend tuning in those crazy TTNG tunings while trying to emulate a spider capo sound, if you can't really afford a spider (although its one of the better types to use), one thing I recommend is a Third Hand Capo, I bought one for 14 bucks on amazon years ago and I still use it. I bought it to learn Antoine Dufour's Memories of the Future, it's a really good investment to have that kind of capo in general whenever you wanna get creative with songwriting and playing.
Um...is Henry using a guitar with the top strings being bass and the bottom strings being guitar? Because I notice his 2nd guitar part after the chorus and he's playing down there! WTF wow! that's customization
The instrument he's using is a Schecter Hellcat and it's a 6 string bass that kind of occupies a weird space between guitar and bass, it's tuned a whole octave lower than a guitar. :)
It's not a Schecter hellcat. It's a customised Squire Jaguar bass with two extra strings to replicate a Fender Bass VI style guitar (which is pretty much what the hellcat does, but it's a completely different guitar). Although you are right about what it does and its octave :)
ok everyone's talking about these kick-ass time signatures but can we acknowledge how frickin communist these lyrics are? heck yeah, my comradar is going off
@@BigEvan96 Socialist I would say for sure. They have a song called "In Praise of Idleness" which is a reference to an essay of the same name by Bertrand Russell, and the essay strongly criticizes capitalism, and promotes anti capitalism/libertarian socialism. iirc at the very least I've seen that Hank supported Corbyn too though Corbyn could be considered more of a midpoint between social democracy and full on socialism he was about as left as you could get while still being a candidate that could achieve electoral victory in the UK
It's not a five string bass. It's custom made, seems like it's very similar to a fender bass VI but short scale. vimeo.com/108249840 second half of the video
It's a Squier VM Jaguar bass. A standard short scale bass, which he's modified by banging a 6 string bridge on, filling in the headstock and putting 6 machine heads on. Pretty clever!
only live. The 13.0.0.0.0 album was recorded with Jamie when they were 4 still. Hank plays the 6 string after he left to play Jamie's basslines and his guitar lines at the same time (like in this song!)
Marcus Gooda Oh I thought Hank was always win TTNG! That and I thought they became a Three man shortly after Animal was released, a year before 13.0.0.0 was released (Back when Toe played in London) they were a three man back then so I thought Jamie left after Animal and hank covered in for the 13.0.0.0 album (because he's the credited member in the Tab book)
nope the model of the guitar he's playing is called the Fender Bass VI. its a 6 string bass that is the same scale as a guitar. the cure used those as well.

Math rock drumming is an extreme sport.
Wouldn't that require it to be dangerous in some way?

TTNG are literally the best band in existence . So much talent it’s just absurd

Fuck man, the Collis bros are both SO good at their respective instruments.

Red wine and tan lines
Colour our differences
You feel less satisfied
The more that you acquire
Black cabs and bar tabs
To help you get away
And you feel quite justified
To feed your magpie's eyes
You'll be happy
When you're willing
To share
Worn holes in old clothes
Wait for the hand-me-downs
Tethered, tangled, and tied;
The suit that fits too tight
Hide behind the bread line
Hunger howls our pockets dry
And it should cripple your pride
To know others won't survive
We'll be happy
When we're willing
To share
Gather the right minds
And slowly through time
All the right minds
Ignoring patience that we lack
Will inform the new minds
And likely inclined all the new minds
Will in turn replace the old
We will change you easily
Great ideals will be replaced
Red wine and tan lines
Colour our differences
Economic divide
This doesn't suit me fine
Still hits so hard. We WILL change you easily.
Amazing musicians, one of few bands who are entirely worthy of their fame. So. Good.
Anet McClintock they deserve more
So much more
i love how the tambourine switches between the upbeats and the downbeats in that groove
I fucking love that
Bruhh could this band get any better
Hugh Jackman is a pretty solid drummer.

best comment on this video by far
You should see Tom Hanks drum for Rush.
One of the best math rock bands forsure, brings me back to middle school
Those meter changes though!
So nostalgic and classic. A blissful pleasure for the ears and soul.
just noticed some of the composition and meter changes. man i knew this band was awesome, but that was just brilliant in that 7/8 &stuff part.
7/8 --> 3/8 --> 7/8 --> 4/8 --> 7/8 --> 5/8 --> 7/8 --> 6/8 --> repeat
If you're wondering how that one part goes.
happyguyxlii i could count it already, but thanks none the less.
The drummer looks like he's really concentrating on getting everything perfect.

slarbiter He probably just has an octave jump pedal on a 6 string bass with PJ pickups on a jaguar body and neck.
+Christopher Thomas nop. it's a Squier VI.
EduardoPavezGoye
I looked into it more he's playing a squire 4 string jaguar that he added two extra strings to. It also does have PJ pick-ups.
+Christopher Thomas How does one add two extra strings to a neck that's only made to fit 4 strings?
He drilled holes and put in 2 pegs smart ass. He said it in an interview.

Ah, the only guitar like that I've seen is the Hellraiser. thanks for clearing that up for me! :]
oh it's actually thin bass strings with pick up changes to switch between deep enough for bass and trebly enough to do melodies
ShadowCrowX Its a Fender Bass VI, it registers between bass and guitar and when switched into the bridge position is pure bass.
WOW
