I love to hear Operator Starsky explain that the people need to control their government and not the other way around. This is a lesson that I feel western democracies are beginning to forget. Maintenance of democracy is the maintenance the democratic spirit in the people. People who know that they are not there to support the objectives of their government and do know that their government is there to support them.
I am from the United States (Washington, DC) and I follow the Ukrainian conflict on a daily basis. It is fantastic to watch and listen to Starsky and Anna, two of the most important sources of information and contributors to the worldwide support for Ukraine. 👍 Nice to watch a celebrity interview that wasn't about them promoting their latest film/book/whatever... although hopefully 'Fluffy the Vatnik Slayer' is in development as a multimedia franchise, with plans for a set of Happy Meal toys at McDonald's. By way of feedback on Anna's first go at interviewing a guest, I think the conversational parts worked very well and it suited her to be actively talking with Starsky and sharing experiences, thoughts and feelings (rather than self-effacingly asking questions 'on behalf of the audience' and passively listening to his replies). 🙂

Hey Anna. Loved your interview with Starsky, another TH-camr I follow. Your nation is so beautiful I hope to be able to afford a visit one day soon. War or not. Russia has so many issues. There are several Russian TH-camrs I follow as well but they have all had to flee their country because they have issues with the war or their lifestyle. The best and brightest of that nation are either in jail or in exile. That will make the effort to turn that nation around and make it the positive force for good it could be that much harder. I remember watching the transition from Gorbachev to Yeltsin and the early days and I was worried then that the west wasn't doing enough to support and guide them to democracy. We didn't do enough for Ukraine either until the Orange Revolution. As Starsky commented Russia has no tradition of "self rule" all they have known for 100s of years is Tzars, Communist Overlords, Secret Police, Oligarchs, Pogroms, etc. The ones that don't emigrate never learn. I know many Russian emigrants and their kids, even the kids raised here in Canada seem to have trouble with " freedom " . They toe the government line or they go completely opposite, no nuance.
We, as your supporters, are tired - we're tired that the populace of Orcnation sit on their hands and support this heinous invasion. We're tired of not enough stuff being supplied at once to liberate your beautiful country. We will never tire of supporting Ukraine, it's beautiful people and stunning cities. As a Canadian watching in horror from afar I feel the world order is not doing enough to help you. There should be no discussion and no hesitation to supplying you with the things needed for great victory. Planes, bombers, bombs, soldiers. All of it.
NATO is extending this war because NATO fears that if they give Ukraine everything they need to win the war in a month then that would be a collapse of the russian ragime and that it might effect NATO badly. Yes this is kinding of juggling the lives of Ukraines people and I wish they would just give it at a higher rate at least. Truth is NATO is likely in this to see the failure of Russia and not to protect Ukraine whatever the truth is I just want ukraine to be free again.
Starting at about 9:39 this interview really grabbed me. Very inspiring. Starsky is a powerful rallying voice for Ukrainian people and his honesty and insight come with so much clarity. Anna is right when she says people like him are “holding up the sky”. It’s a fact. Heroes never like being called heroes, but here are two of them in the same video. My own trips to Ukraine began before the Revolution of Dignity. I remember difficulties, and cynicism among very young people about the country. I greatly hope to visit again soon, with the victory, and to register the many changes and the civic pride. I watched the revolution in amazement from a distance. I watch the war and your resistance from afar. In complete sincerity, Ukraine's civil society is the envy of the free world. You are beautiful. As an American I feel jealous of you. We in the "democratic West" have very much to learn from Ukrainians. Slava Ukraini!

Anna, you are a good interviewer. You were well prepared, no notes, smart questions, and a relaxed atmosphere made for a compelling interview. Having Starsky as your first interview probably helped make it easier. He’s smart and entertaining. Yesterday you were concerned about how you looked but you looked great. Shooting on location is difficult. To make it look subjectively perfect , you have to drag a lot of equipment ( lighting, scrims, etc.)along. And that may not be possible. This is the first time and as you do more you’ll get better. As you do more, you can focus on the interviewee and not what’s going on behind the camera. I think the symbolism was great. Two very popular Ukrainian TH-camrs outside in the middle of Kyiv with McDonald’s cups, people walking around in the background enjoying a beautiful day, and a shot of the Ukrainian and American flag together. A powerful message if you ask me. A+ on that. This will get a lot of views because a lot of people were looking forward to this happening. I am truly looking forward to more of these from you. Now I’m going to watch it again. Slava Ukraine!

Thanks for telling that the Ukrainian civil society is the best guarantee against corruption any investor could get. It reminded me of the protests in Romania some years ago. They just couldn't stand the openness of the corruption any more. Some of my colleagues are living in Romania. One of them said, a thieve ought to have to work in the darkness of the night. If we can't prevent the corruption completely, we want to at least deprieve them from the joy of doing it openly.

As a Canadian watching in horror from afar I feel the world order is not doing enough to help you. There should be no discussion and no hesitation to supplying you with the things needed for great victory. Planes, bombers, bombs, soldiers. All of it.

NATO is extending this war because NATO fears that if they give Ukraine everything they need to win the war in a month then that would be a collapse of the russian ragime and that it might effect NATO badly. Yes this is kinding of juggling the lives of Ukraines people and I wish they would just give it at a higher rate at least. Truth is NATO is likely in this to see the failure of Russia and not to protect Ukraine whatever the truth is I just want ukraine to be free again.
Are you ready to go there? Or you are all for it only while other are sent to die there?

Starting at about 9:39 this interview really grabbed me. Very inspiring. Starsky is a powerful rallying voice for Ukrainian people and his honesty and insight come with so much clarity. Anna is right when she says people like him are “holding up the sky”. It’s a fact. Heroes never like being called heroes, but here are two of them in the same video. Anna did a great job with her first interview and Starsky made it really easy and natural while delivering many salient and concise points. Well done. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦

My own trips to Ukraine began before the Revolution of Dignity. I remember difficulties, and cynicism among very young people about the country. I greatly hope to visit again soon, with the victory, and to register the many changes and the civic pride. I watched the revolution in amazement from a distance. I watch the war and your resistance from afar. In complete sincerity, Ukraine's civil society is the envy of the free world. You are beautiful. As an American I feel jealous of you. We in the "democratic West" have very much to learn from Ukrainians. Slava Ukraini!

Anna, you are a good interviewer. You were well prepared, no notes, smart questions, and a relaxed atmosphere made for a compelling interview. Having Starsky as your first interview probably helped make it easier. He’s smart and entertaining.
Yesterday you were concerned about how you looked but you looked great. Shooting on location is difficult. To make it look subjectively perfect , you have to drag a lot of equipment ( lighting, scrims, etc.)along. And that may not be possible. This is the first time and as you do more you’ll get better. As you do more, you can focus on the interviewee and not what’s going on behind the camera.
I think the symbolism was great. Two very popular Ukrainian TH-camrs outside in the middle of Kyiv with McDonald’s cups, people walking around in the background enjoying a beautiful day, and a shot of the Ukrainian and American flag together. A powerful message if you ask me. A+ on that.
This will get a lot of views because a lot of people were looking forward to this happening. I am truly looking forward to more of these from you. Now I’m going to watch it again.

Thanks for telling that the Ukrainian civil society is the best guarantee against corruption any investor could get. It reminded me of the protests in Romania some years ago. They just couldn't stand the openness of the corruption any more. Some of my colleagues are living in Romania. One of them said, a thieve ought to have to work in the darkness of the night. If we can't prevent the corruption completely, we want to at least deprieve them from the joy of doing it openly.
