Nice job.I have converted 3 engines so far.An MDS 58,SC 52 four stroke and a little OS 25. The MDS runs perfectly on the petroil mix and is a lot better than running on glow fuel as it was too intermittent.I lowered the compression on both the 2 strokes but as the SC four stroke was already low compression I left it as it was. I don't use glow fuel anymore due to the silly price of it here in the UK Vince
I plan to convert a 180 this very way. The reason is it will be for scale competition in Europe, and I do not know what kind of fuel I will have available. Plus, I was planning on setting it up with an on board glow anyway, so this just makes that easier, and radio controlled kill. It is stated that you can run down to 0% nitro, and also see a 25% increase in duration as it requires to be run leaner than normal. Looking forward to doing this conversion, and nice to find a video specific to what I am up to.
CH-Ignition sells the electronic ignition unit for 1,2,3,5,7 pistons, and the Hall sensor that fits on a number of the Saito 4-stroke engines. You can convert to ignition, and continue to run methanol based fuel (for more power), or run on just 95% methanol and 5% oil, using the stock nitro carburetor. Or, you can get the gas conversion kit that includes a gas carburetor, and then run gas/petrol and 5% oil (with less power than when running methanol based fuel). These conversion options should be considered by fliers who want higher quality 20-30cc fuel engines, and 4-cycle sound, but don't want to take the drop in power from running 4-cycle gas/petrol engines. In some hot rod shops, you can buy $4/gallon methanol, and nitromethane, and racing oil, to mix your own $6/gallon methanol fuel. And you can buy the big Saito single piston engines NIB for about $200 now.
You did a great job has your conversion. I converted my Saito 180 with a CH Ignition and hall sensor. I use a 17x8 Xoar Sword prop. I have a steady slow idle and no flame outs with perfect transition. I use Cool Power Pro Pattern 20% fuel. I love my engine. I am about 4 gallons of fuel in and running the same spark plugs. It runs great.
Yes I set my advance at 28 degrees advance. That gets rid of the nasty kick back that the big block saitos have. The digital advance setup then advances the timing automatically as the rpm picks up.
So if youre running alcohol ignition what kind of timing will it be running?? Is it still going to be like 28 degrees before top dead center like one would do in a gas two stroke?

could you share some specs of your modification? or have a viedeo?? regards *

I like the look of the old-time spark ignition engines, but wondered if I can use a glow plug & nitro fuel in them for simplicity sake ?
No Modifications to the engine or carb. Still running glow fuel.
Will this work for the Saito 150
Does the spark ignition increase or decrease full efficiency? Does it cause power loss or more power?
Where did you get those shorts ???

Hello, good job. Did you make any modification on the carbu?
Was it a kit or did you just buy the part
I want to convert a saito fa 56 to spark but I have no idea which thing to buy?
Didn't you have to put on a carburetor for gasoline -vs- the carb that was on there for nitro?
This isn't running on gas, it's still running on nitro
Nice! Is that cool power fuel?
What kind of fuel mix?
what about lubrication in the fuel?
it's already mixed in.
Sweet ~
