Welcome back to my channel! In this video, things get pretty interesting when I forget I’ve got a cruise to board that day…! How did I do this? Well, let me explain!
I’m currently onboard Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas as part of spending this year living mostly on cruise ships. Between most of my ships, I’ve got a night or two ‘on land’, often due to ship schedules. This time, I thought I had one night in the city of Barcelona to look forward to, and so had planned fully for this. However, when I went a walk after breakfast at the Windjammer (Royal’s buffet), I realised I’d got my dates completely mixed up, and Costa Toscana was docked in Barcelona TODAY.
In this video, I’m going to show you what it’s like to disembark from Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships on the planet, and also embark Costa Toscana, the new flagship from Costa Cruises.
I’ve previously cruised on Costa (in my last vlog series) onboard Costa Diadema, but Costa Toscana is apparently very different, so let’s get onboard and see for ourselves…!

It's a lucky, good thing that you could see your next ship... what if there were multiple ports, is that a potentiality? A different ship terminal across town... yum... hope the Italian food is fabulous.. the shower/sea view is interesting, giving the customet every opportunity to see the ocean view...
Oh, I know. Luckily, Barcelona only has cruises out of the terminals here - they’re all in a line, so all from the same place. As ships want you off quickly though, it’s difficult to see who else is docked with you, as they’re all in a straight line!

Your attitude about it all should be a lesson to everyone! "I'm really just relaxed about the whole thing and not stressing because what good is stressing going to do?" Bravo! You went to guest services for help, then on the other website, then to the costa terminal to have them help you (I haven't finished watching the video yet...am I speaking too soon?? LOL). I'm jealous of your attitude, and I'm old enough to know better about the stressing ;-)
Ahh, thanks so much! I learned pretty quickly that me being stressed wouldn’t help anyone - if I was going to be left in Barcelona, I’d be way happier if I wasn’t stressing, haha! Thanks for continuing to watch my channel!!

I am SO glad you saw the ship in port to make you wonder about the date and jog your memory. Had you not, you may have missed the cruise completely. I look forward to hearing more about this Italian cruise line and how you enjoy it as a "minority" language guest. Happy sailing!

Good catch ! An easy challenge to fix 😀. I have a high bar now. Ma’ and I was dumped of a Cruise ship in Civitavecchia, Italy. Our 3rd party transfer to Rome was a no show.
I then felt for the 1st time the large imposing cold Steel ship lurking behind us. We were on our own - time to squeeze lemonade 😀
Long story short I put to use my amazing pocket machine and found a wonderful boutique hotel in central Rome -
The owner and amenities were wonderful and in a great location. A free transfer to the airport was afforded also 😅.
It shaped into a great experience. You are correct ! Didn’t get worked up. Just focused on all the options I could come up with to overcome the challenge 😀.
Ahh, that sounds stressful, but also sounds like it worked out really well!
Agree re the stress point - getting worked up helps nobody - just need to breathe and avoid disaster, haha!

@@FraserAtSea I have a heart / - to be fair the cruise line Princess has always looked out for us. That’s why we cruse exclusively with Princess. There’s exceptions of course. Far and few in between. Virgin offered a free cruise due to qualified employment status. It was wonderful !
Regarding transfers, I will only go with the cruise line for assurance.. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way 😀
Hi Fraser. Still going strong. Good job you had your wits about you when spotting the Toscana, lol. I’m guessing that meant a cancelled overnight hotel booking? Just curious, but did your cruise vlogs start back on the Azura? If so, when does your year of cruising come to an end - Dec/Jan? Regardless, keep ‘em coming in the meantime. 👍🏼
Hey Ade! So I actually had this on my itinerary all along - the hotel wasn’t even booked, haha! My vlogs for this year started on World Europa in March!
My final ‘series’ covering this year will be recorded mid December, but my content’s going to be running waaaaaayy into next year at this rate, so don’t worry - plenty more to come, haha!
Hi Fraser, I know you are not a big drinker, but is it true the main (maybe only) beer they have is Heineken?? I looked at Costa cruises after your last video… seem to remember not a great drinks selection!! Maybe why the drinks package was so cheap….. nobody drinks Heineken do they??
Don’t worry - they’ve got plenty of other options! Even at the Heineken sponsored venue, you can order different beers. The basic drinks package doesn’t have many other options included though, so worth thinking about upgrading if you prefer different.
